They crammed six apartments in that thing? The old tenement buildings of the mid 19th century were actually considered pretty shit and not a point of pride. Sticking a solar panel on one and saying good job is really putting lipstick on the pig.

Incidentally, I am utterly amazed Canada has a housing crisis. You guys have more free land per person then any nation on earth. Why dont you just do a new round of concession lands and tell enterprising young men its yours if you can build a shack with four walls and a roof on it and live there 10 months out of the year?

Hell, if you did that, you would make actual Americans in America want to move to Canada for reasons other then wanting to dodge responsibility and hatred of the orange man.

The purpose of a thing is what it does. The housing crisis enriches the preexisting elite and generates so much money for the few. When the boomers start to die off, the government would prefer to tear down their homes rather than see the supply of housing increase. Everything is by design.

Most of our politicians have investment portfolios that have a lot of real estate on it. They have a very strong financial incentive to keep house prices as high as possible.

Its the same in the US, just not as bad (yet). Housing prices are set up to be a zero sum game. The wealthy store value in property while boomers want their house's value to be as high as possible for retirement purposes. If you lower housing prices to save zoomers then you hurt boomers, the wealthy, anyone who's retirement investments are tied up in housing. However if you allow the asset owning class to have whatever they want it drives zoomers to become even more mentally ill and sexless thereby destroying society.

To be honest, I unironically think that the propaganda could break their minds enough to try this, even if they are usually pussies. Propaganda can work very, VERY well, we've seen this is the last half decade, not just in Canada, but across the west.
