It's not exactly patriotism. They're proud to be Canadian because being Canadian is the opposite of being American, and America is the worst thing ever, so being Canadian and loving Canada is being good and loving good. It's literally just virtue signaling and wanting to be the good guy

Oh Canada was a vibe, it was like Nordic America. I still remember when Brampton was majority White (German/English), and the Greater Toronto Area was relatively quiet, not much traffic, and extremely clean like Japan-level.

Canada could have went for a Scandinavian-style system but the Canadian political elite wanted us to become Arctic California instead, as diverse and ghetto-esque as Los Angeles and home prices as ridiculous as Beverly Hills.

I can't even imagine Toronto holding open-air concerts out on the streets anymore, that used to be normal back then, with barely any security required. That's what we lost.

There was always a certain level of diversity, but the European-majority kept things First World level socially and culturally. We had "Asian" culture but it was heavily filtered.

And yes, when you went into Tim Hortons around Toronto and the staff were still majority White. Lol.

I will say the last breath of this was circa 2015, Canada was already going downhill by then but that was the last time it still resembled "Nordic America."

And that's why I think the future of Canada is probably some kind of Indian (Jeet) oligarchy, there's just no scenario we're getting back Nordic Canada, the fact that we have so much Indian MPs in Parliament was unthinkable back then. The most "diverse" thing we had back then was sushi. Lol.

That's been Canada's thing since 1776. Literally why you guys are a separate nation. Not being part of the US is the defining reason why your country exists as it does today. Not like we didn't try to get you to join in on the fun
