There are way less reserves than reg force. The government seeks to change that, but I doubt they will be successful. The Canadian reserves have always been a basket case filled with retards. They are also not bound by law to show up if called. So if war were declared, they would no show.

As well, dying for a state that hates you, that will take your death to import your enemies who will call you and your memory racist is not the great deal it used to be. As well Canada is notorious for treating veterans like human garbage.

They can ship ice cream to the desert. Keep fleets of aircraft airborne and ready to go at a moments notice. On a whim they can fly across the world and drop bombs. A carrier group can flatten an entire nation. America does not lose wars militarily, they lose them politically. Canada is not Afghanistan, it is cold, very cold. Doughy, soft handed Canadians who spends months inside will not be sitting in the woods at -25 waiting for an ambush.

Americans like to joke about invading Canada, but realistically there is no appetite for it. It would not be "cool". The only reason America does anything is because its "Cool". Go to the moon? Cool. Carpet bomb goat herders in the middle east? Very cool. Blow up narco boats in the carribean? Cool as fuck.

Invading Canada? Not cool. It would be like clubbing a baby seal. Or jokes aside, would be seen as a literal brother war much like the US Civil War, which was definitely NOT COOL, even if we made cool art like paintings, statues and movies about it after the fact.

The "Rule of Cool" is absolute in predicting how America will do anything. It takes extreme circumstances to get America to act against that rule. Which incidentally is why nobody is actually mad about Trump demolishing the east wing of the white house to build a ballroom. Big grandiose architecture is cool.

The last two things directly point to the first. I think most people in Western nations really believe that Communism (or full Socialist regime) wouldn’t ever happen in their countries. The only threat they believe in is “far right.” What happens when the only people who are allowed to use or possess firearms are the bureaucrats firmly entrenched in every facet of government but private citizens are punished for the least amount of resistance to violence? We’ve seen all this before and it has never ended well.

History is long and liberals in particular have zero interest in understanding the sacrifices made to allow Western democracies to thrive. It’s so successful they now have to make up problems to struggle against because their lives are so goddamn comfortable.

As an aside, the only reason Canada probably couldn’t go full CCP is the U.S. would not be able to allow that kind of threat sitting on our border. But it would be a very bad time for both countries if it came to that.

I mentioned this before, but the west's "never again" mentality with the "far right" is very similar to the "never another war" mentality Britain and France had during the interwar period, even during Hitler's rise to power. As we saw in 1939, this mentality usually does nothing or even accomplishes the opposite. You're honestly so fucking right with the whole "communism will never take root in the west" mentality also being common, basically "it can't happen here!" Also, the amount of Cucknadians who genuinely want communism in Canada is also pretty insane, especially since I'm actually from a communist country (mainland China).

Luckily for the rest of the world, Canada would operate just as poorly as it does right now as it would as a one party state. I was looking at joining the reserves when I went back to school but honestly there's no way I'm serving for anything due to the state the country is. The upper brass in the Canadian Armed Forces are the most retarded people in uniform are are partially responsible for why the military is a shell of its former self. No housing, shitty pay, outdated and poorly maintained equipment that is always in short supply, poor training and and a command structure that ends up getting people needlessly injured or killed. I would honestly be more interested in joining the US Army or Marines than serve fat bureaucrats who ruined the country.
