More than 500 days in harsh pre-trial custody was enough punishment for a Mohawk man caught driving around Peterborough with a crack pipe in his lap and a “killing machine” of a rifle in the back seat, along with a flame thrower in the trunk, according to a recent sentence of time served from Ontario’s Court of Justice.

Jesse Garlow, a convicted drug trafficker who was under a firearms prohibition, had been in custody since June 7, 2024 when he was sentenced. Police initially pulled him over because the car he was driving was weaving.

At least it was "harsh" pre trial custody....and not the normal kind everyone else gets. I guess they didn't know he was Indian there?
 
Today is Remembrance Day and I'm thinking about my grandfather, who was an RCAF pilot that served in WWII. This isn't the same Canada he served and I don't know if he would approve of what he'd see now if he were alive and had all of his mental faculties.

Anyone see that viral clip of the 100 year old WW2 veteran saying on British news that it wasn't worth the sacrifice after seeing modern day Britain? Based!

My great grandfather fought in WW1 as a 17 year old and survived. They don't make people like they used to anymore.

First of all, Navy so opinion immediately discarded. I don't listen to men who had a rank that reflects the contents of their stomach. Second of all, the Canadian Navy has not fired a shot in anger since 1944. While you may be a veteran in title, you are not one in deed. Retiring after a decade because you were a giant pussy, and most likely abused the medical system so you never sail does not make you a badass. It makes you the opposite.

Mike the Navy Guy, is what I am going to assume one of those nerdy guys who joined, hated his life, found every single way to get of doing any work, was hated by supervisors and comrades alike. Got out, and now no one cares about his Navy time so he goes on and chest puffs on Twitter. His life is defined forever by the thing that he hated. Mike, is probably still young enough to rejoin, to impart his wisdom and skills upon the new generation of the CAF. However, he won't. The next war that comes up, he will no longer be "Mike The Navy Guy" in fact he will deny ever being a veteran or ever having joined the CAF and talk about all his physical ailments as to why he can't serve. Sort of like noted Canadian lolcow ShortFatOtaku bloviating about going to war in Ukraine, but claiming to be too fat to join, so he would not be going over.

The Navy up until recently had always had the largest members of the CAF I had ever seen. When you see a man who can touch both sides of a hallway without extending his arms, you realize that you have seen something truly horrible.

There's much, much less of this in the combat arms trades where a large majority of the soldiers are still relatively fit, young and male. Non-combat trades, the navy and especially the officers, skewing more female, fat and older, will be a mixed bag with quite a few libcucks like the retard I posted above. You could make any politically incorrect joke you want in a combat unit, while the same joke could literally get you charged and kicked out/thrown into prison if you said it in Ottawa.

Used to be the case that to be a veteran you had to actually serve in a warzone. They changed this back in the 2000s I believe, to simply having to complete basic to be considered a veterans. It had to do with entitlements and that type of thing. Some soldiers who were injured from gun/mortar fire during the UN peace keeping missions weren't, at the time, legally considered veterans due to some technicality about peace keeping not being a war. So to bring everyone under the umbrella they just redefined the term. One of the consequences being you now have to deal with everyone walking around like their time on a ship or as a line cook is the same as being in the Battle of the Somme.

It's disheartening to see fat bodies waddling around in uniform. Young 20-somethings who can't see their toes and we just let them live like that. No self respect, and if you stop them and correct them, they cry harassment. Grown men whom cry at the drop of a hat, dumpy white women who think they are bad bitches, but throw a shit fit if the thermostat is too warm.

The navy is also considered desirable because you pretty much get stationed in either halifax, or vancouver.

I suggest you look at your grandfather’s service records. I did so recently for my grandfather and got a 300 page pfd that opened up the details of his service and pow experience.

I suspect there are more details; as he had been seconded to British forces. I’m investigating, slowly, how to do so as an aside.

It’s easy to do so.

If a soldier from WW2 was teleported to the modern day, they'd probably think the Germans and Japanese won WW2 and they forced us to become gay or something (both figuratively and literally). Or a cold war era person might think the communists won the cold war (and technically they did in some ways like infiltrating our institutions).

The idea that Canadian think the youth will die for liberals and Boomer retirement funds is both funny and sad because of how delusional this belief is. Also a lot of soldiers in Canada are reserves, and would either not be mobilized in time due to the Americans being objectively stronger than us or straight up desert.

Though like another guy said above, morale is a problem for most countries, including the USA, but it would probably be especially bad for Canada.

One of the better descriptions of the US Army that I’ve heard is that it’s the world greatest logistics company - they can set up a military base complete with a Burger King on the opposite side of the planet within 24 Hours, and keep that fucker supplied for almost 2 decades, and the Powers That Be up here in Leafistan think they wouldn’t roll us when there’s how many Interstates that come close to, if not right up to, the border?

Shit, Detroit by itself could probably handle Canada - cities probably better armed than the Canadian Military, just say anyone who takes part gets EBT for life and shit’d get done in less than 48 Hours, with most of that time just being getting to the Northern parts of the country.
