Minimum wage is such a stupid fucking concept if you think about it for more than 2 minutes. Imagine if the minimum wage is $10 an hour and you get paid $20 an hour. Now you wake up to find that the minimum is now $12 an hour. Now, everything is being priced with the expectation that people are making, at minimum, $12 an hour. From here, you have one of two option: you can either have your wages increased or you have to just deal with it. In the former, we're basically back to where we fucking started but now the numbers are bigger. In the latter, you just end up making people poorer as their wage loses value. So, yeah, minimum wage is retarded.

People don't seem to understand that a "minimum wage" is just stamping an arbitrary minimum value on labor. If the minimum hourly wage is $10 an hour, than it just means people who are not able to do $10 worth of labor in an hour are effectively blacklisted from the market. Really, the only people who benefit from wage increases are the people who already have jobs and working for large companies. Even than, increasing the minimum wage ignores that there are people who are paid more than the minimum wage.

Without minimum wage laws, you'd be able to start your own company as you'd be able to hire younger, less experienced people who are willing to take a lesser pay with the possibility of greater reward should it pay off. It would also reduce the amount of people living on welfare and disability as minimum wage make it less likely someone with a mental or physical disability gets hired. Hey, by the way, did you know the biggest supporters of minimum wage increase are Amazon and Walmart? Just a completely random piece of information that has literally nothing to do with what I just siad.

IIRC, and I could be completely wrong here, but one of the unspoken reasons why owners have a tough time with minimum wage increases is due to the costs of employment. Employers usually have to front the cost of things like E.I (Employment Insurance), taxes related to CPP, and other things like that, sometimes having to pay double that. It's not uncommon for an employer to pay something like an extra 10-15 dollars and hour on top of that minimum wage, it can be EXTREMELY expensive to employ a full team.

You know why Singapour is the only successful multicultural country? Because its a benevolent dictatorship with a massive police state apparatus behind it to keep everyone in check, and that as zero tolerance for anything. That and they literally force different groups to live together and have laws that make it so you can only sell your housing development apartment to someone of your race.

In part yes. The big reason is minimum wage positions are primarily in industries with razor thin profit margins - i.e. restaurants, grocers, general retail. Paying a few dollars increase plus all the extraneous costs is enough to bankrupt a lot of them, leading to the layoff/hour reduction waves following them. Rather than people realizing it means we have a glut of these stores (why the fuck does every neighbourhood need 2+ Singh Hortons?) though it's been twisted by boomers and libtard midwits into younger generations being unwilling to work and pull themselves up by their bootstraps - so naturally must have infinite immigration and TFWs to make up for lazy kids.

A $1 increase in your hourly wage is $2,000 more per year (assuming you work 40 hours full time) which means another $2,000/yr needs to be added into their revenue, and that doesn't even take into consideration taxes for that extra revenue. So in reality, it's more than that they need to earn just to afford that pay increase.

It is a bit misleading.

Singapore is a multicultural society. That "Chinese" group was very diverse people from a huge number of regions that did not even speak the same language or even eat the same food (other than rice). The country is also one of the most religiously diverse countries on the planet.

How did Lee Kuan Yew make this work? He made them to become one Singaporean culture. He forced all of the Chinese subgroups, Malay, and Indians to speak English in public life. No tax funded translators - learn English to function here. He enforced a meritocratic colorblind society on the country by refusing any DEI-like programs that would appear unfair. He funded massive public housing projects and used them break ethnic enclaves with race quotas in buildings. He forced people to live together and created public spaces that would be used by everybody. His government passed a law banning foreigners from stirring up religious and cultural division in their country. He forced everybody to dedicate a percentage of their earnings to ownership in state companies and stocks so that they would have ownership of their country and benefit from its success.

He did everything Canada will never do to make multiculturalism work.
