I think most Canadians are obsessed with public image, similar to many East-Asians. Canada must be the most diverse, most tolerant, most kind, and most unified nation on earth, anything short of that is treason. That's why Canadians have such a superiority complex, and why they try and act kind in public even if they're secretly assholes. They're basically obsessed with being "on the right side of history" which is why fake polls work so well in Canada. The funny thing is that this would mean Canadians would've voted for hitler cuz he was winning in the polls and snitch on neighbors that sheltered jews, just like how many of them snitched on COVID mandate breakers.

If Canada ever has a great firewall like China has or what Russia is trying to implement, most Canadians will probably self-censor and refuse to use VPNs, Canadians are somehow more pro-government than people from actual dictatorships. Many of them probably would be fine or even secretly wished they lived under a dictator or absolute monarch. Hell, during the lead up to the elections, I saw someone say that they wanted Canada to be a one party state with controlled opposition so he "didn't have to worry about politics." I bet China and Russia are super jealous of the sheep we have in this country.

Canadians, specifically leftist Canadians want to be American so bad it hurts. They want to be upper class blue state Americans living in gated communities. That's the only culture Canadians are allowed to have. The ultra WASP lifestyle. They want to be an ultra liberal American because of their inferiority complex. They love it when Democrats mention Canada positively. It makes them feel important, as part of the club. Like they are better than those fucking red state rednecks.

I won't give more details about him out of respect for his privacy (shouldn't have in the first place, but I act like an idiot more times than I like), but yeah, I think your theory pans out. Plus, there is the addictive nature of social media that has distorted people's psyches to such an absurd degree.

The pandemic was such a "mask off" moment to me that I have come to absolutely despise Canadians. Half of them don't want dissent or polite disagreement. They want total submission to their will and even when you give it, they will use you as a whipping boy. For all their wailing about Poilievre being "too mean", the left and so-called "centre" had a more agreeable Conservative leader in Erin O'Toole and they relentlessly eviscerated him. What these numb-nuts want is to perpetually rig the game in their favor... Every. Single. Time. What they fail to realize is that power often comes from the barrel of a gun and Ottawa is incredibly feeble. They can't do a damn thing if Quebec or Alberta wants to leave. Neither can the natives because A) they have no organization, and B) their "power" is an illusion created by the federal government. Canadians have no idea of how weak and stupid they truly are. America can walk all over us because we purposely crippled ourselves and our European "allies" are similarly too impotent to even help us. Assuming they even want to.

I remember seeing a video where the liberals portrayed o'toole as a "dangerous" maple MAGA type leader, despite him being the most enlightened centrist conservative ever. Also I unironically think Canada has only been a democracy since the last 20 or so years, when the CPC became the federal conservative party, instead of the ACTUAL controlled opposition party, the federal PCs. You can absolutely criticize the CPC, but they're still leagues better than the PCs imo (a very low bar tbf).

Also that is an interesting thought, if the western european leftist governments collapsed (and imagine for this scenario china doesn't care enough to support canada) we'd be completely alone. We'll pretty much be north america's "hermit kingdom" but there's no way canada would be competent enough to develop nukes to fend off america.

1- Calgary Quarry Park HQ: Sold to Brookfield, monetizing underutilized space. This mirrors Imperial’s real move to donate its former research centre and labs to SAIT, reinforcing a Calgary real estate pullback.

2- Corporate functions: Relocated to Edmonton, aligning headquarters with upstream operations.

3- Employee impact: Calgary staff offered relocation to operational or refinery sites, redeployment packages, or voluntary exits.

4- Cold Lake & Kearl: Continue to run as profitable oil sands assets, with upgrader units ensuring bitumen flows meet refinery specs. Over time, Imperial phases in project-level JVs with partners like Suncor and Cenovus on select expansions — sharing cost, technology, and risk without ceding full control.

6- Downstream operations:

Sarnia refinery & chemical complex anchors the eastern market.
Nanticoke refinery complements Sarnia, strengthening Imperial’s Ontario downstream footprint.

Staff relocations tied into these downstream assets keep talent aligned with refining/chemical demand centers.

I dont agree with (like) street preaching it's a bit cheesy but this channel deserves more attention. It's ran by an Ex-Cop and has a good backlog of videos about the TPS. Im not ACAB except for the parking guys!

Sounds just like how the Big 5 Banks and other large Canadian companies moved their corporate headquarters from Montreal to Toronto because of Quebecois Separatist movement and FLQ crisis.

Before that Toronto was largely a manufacturing city. Literally called Hogtown because of meat processing (similar to Chicago)
