I can easily see us rapidly transforming into the UK where people who violate these bullshit laws are prosecuted over actual criminals. The RCMP may be incompetent, but if they only have to focus on otherwise law abiding citizens instead of actual criminals they can arrest a lot of innocent people because it is easy and because it works to silence vocal opposition to what is happening everywhere.

Ironically the places MOST AFFECTED by liberal policies, urban Ontario, urban BC, Quebec and the majority of the Maritimes are usually the places that voted the MOST LIBERAL.

Tbh wouldn't be surprised if there isn't much resistance to this outside of conservative majority areas (and even then most Canadians in general supported the harsh crackdown on the trucker convoy). Canadians are almost comically docile and VERY pro government. Hell, even in places like Russia and China there's people that use vpns to bypass firewalls and protest against the government more than Canadians do despite the consequences being greater.

I just can't see a protest compatible to the size of the current UK protests that are happening outside of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and maybe rural BC or rural Ontario if you're REALLY pushing it.

Like with the Nepal government being recently overthrown for example, if that kinda of protest happened in Canada, a large percentage of the people here would probably flat out calling for the protesters to get Tiananmen Square'd (just like the trucker convoy).

Of course I would LOVE to be proven wrong about this...but always prepare for the worse case scenario.

Also for any non-whites in here, ABSOLUTELY ABUSE the racism card if they come for you.

The problem with people who assume the government is incompetent don't understand its very competent and doing its job well.
The RCMP might be incompetent but if they pass a speech bill I could see diversity hires getting hired to ruin and jail those peolle that canada might actually jail more people than the US.

It's mostly going to be people who are complete morons and just blasting shit on Main Accounts under Real Names, and people who the RCMP want to hit with an easy charge as a way to get them in for the Serious Charges.

The former are the low hanging fruit, the latter are probably going to have it dropped as part of a plea deal, and that's all before getting into how the Canadian Justice System is essentially a "Catch And Release" system. It's going to be a clown show watching this try and get enforced, before inevitably being ignored unless you're already on the RCMP's radar. So Dooming aside, as long as we aren't complete morons, we should be fine, even if a VPN would be recommended.

Fuck, I'd love to be a fly on the wall to watch some RCMP agent try and get the information on everyone in a Warzone lobby - even ignoring how most of them probably aren't Leafs, that's a level of Racism flying around that makes the rest of the Internet look well adjusted.

This is probably it. It will be the catch all to shut down dissent of the government. Something that will require the ceasing of all electronic devices, from which they find your contacts. From there they can dig and dig until they find something serious to pin on you or your associates.

Or it will be another thing your ex can throw at you in a divorce hearing to ruin your life.

Canada doesn't, the talent capable has already left for down south. What remains is not the best. On top of a crashing economy (despite what the news and government says) the ability for the Canadian government to enforce is going to become weaker and weaker. This will go after the "tall poppies" of dissent. The people who become big enough for someone within the government to develop a hate on for.

While I do believe that there are some in the government who wish to create a walled garden internet where only sites they approve of will be allowed. Believing that will give them total control and stamp out dissent. All it will do is cause us to talk to our neighbours out of boredom, with the potential for organization. Not to mention the fatal error of depriving the gooners, fujos and failed men of the porn and circuses that they have been self medicating their loneliness with. Not to mention the Indian tard rage that will sweep the nation when they are deprived of access to digital bobs and vagene.
