Edmonton will remain NDP, however the UCP has eaten into their lead and a lot of the ridings they picked up in Calgary would flip back to UCP control. The NDP choosing Nenshi has firmly relegated them to the wilderness for a good while longer yet, especially given the height of his popularity was over a decade ago and, unlike Carney, is physically incapable of hiding his arrogance. No one of importance cares about the Calgary flood anymore, especially more recent residents who instead have to deal with the flood mitigation construction.

We can just refuse to recognize naturalized Canadians and immigrants and order them to apply for US citizenship, obtain visas or leave. I would imagine any sort of annexation would have a transition phase, if it ever happens at all. Immediate annexation only happen overnight if a country loses a war, and in which case the victor sets the terms it wants anyway.
