I feel like Canada's dissolution is inevitable but who knows, it's all just noise right now. There was a pretty damning poll last year showing about half of all young people in all Canada would be fine joining the US if it meant they would get citizenship and assets converted into USD dollar for dollar.
If the US was actually determined to make Canada, or parts of, the 51st state I think it could happen sooner than later. Might take the boomers dying off and pushing even more people into positions where they have nothing to lose.

Why on Earth would the US ever want to annex a nation where 1/4 people are now Indian, and FOB?

The question is always why would you annex a place with a large population hostile to yoi unless you planned to round them up and dispose of them one way or another.

I can see America taking the Prairie provinces, but honestly that won't be by force but but America offering them an agreement where they get better rights and such as a State. B.C. Will have to make a decision if they end up physically seperated from the rest of Canada, but I think not having g a land connection to Ontario will have much impact as there's very little interprovincial trade

When is that stay in Canada thing coming to Calgary to collect signatures? I want to see if they actually draw a line or get egged out of town.

I would take Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon. Maybe British Columbia for a whole Alaska land connection completion (or just that small sliver that splits Haines, Alaska from Yukon line) and another Pacific port and more Arctic.

If Alberta secedes its unlikely it will honor all the temporary visas Canada issued, and anyone who does not have firm citizenship and lives in Alberta would likely be rejected. Otherwise everyone from Ontario would move to Alberta and cause the infrastructure to implode.

The fact they can do this at all is a terrifying thought I never considered. The government has a literal infinite number of Indians to import to any city any time they want if the numbers aren't enough in their favour. That's horrifying, what the fuck!

One of my lasting memories of Oz was how freaky it was post-9/11 as a North American to have wellwishers be able to clear security with you & say farewell at the gate as you board your flight without a ticket themselves. And in major cities, not some podunk outback terminal.

Do you know if this is still permitted/part of the culture? My experience is pretty dated now.

Canadian tech is hopeless. Every good programmer that can, leaves right after University for a nice big American paycheck.

Hell, even Shopify has mostly left Canada already. They are a "remote-first" company so they don't even bother hiring Canadians now. Just look at their job postings. Almost everything is "Remote - Americas".
