I know I just meant that at least the meme lolbertarian party gets some kind of popular appeal / support. Even if the party is ultimately fake and gay.

The PPC is still fairly young but it's been 7 years and nothing.

The way I de-programmed myself about multiculturalism and mass immigration was that I don't like every culture on Earth, and I don't like having to tolerate every culture on Earth.

It's really that simple, tolerance is exhausting, it crushes your soul because you're forced to lie to yourself.

Literally much better to just admit that I don't like a culture, I don't want anything to do with it, and I don't want to see it in the country.

I was lucky enough to be exposed to the Classics when I was younger so I actively ignored much of what my teachers taught me.

The PPC came in at the right time and place to capitalize off covid and Trudeau's incompetence but failed to do so in any meaningful way. They had some legitimate momentum in 2019 but it's just petered out from there and they've fallen into irrelevancy. I think the PPC is the right concept but Bernier is just not the guy to do it. He's trying to be a populist but isn't charming or charismatic enough for it to get any real traction. I feel like the party could work and at least achieve some level of relevancy, like a weird right wing mirror version of the NDP, but Bernier isn't the guy whose gonna do that.

Yeah, supply management is still a thing. Ostensibly it's for maintaining "stable" (read: higher) prices for consumers and a consistent supply of dairy, but the end result is just that dairy farmers make boatloads of cash while also wasting a lot of perfectly good product that could lower costs for consumers or be exported to foreign markets. Which is especially dumb considering we import far more dairy products than we export:

There is one pretty big variable to consider though: Canada does not actually pay direct monetary subsidies to dairy farmers. The supply management system IS the subsidy. Allowing the restriction of supply sort of keeps farming profitable enough that the government doesn't have to prop up the dairy industry with federal money if prices tank or there's a disease outbreak or something. Compare with the US or UK, where their respective feds just throw subsidy checks (read: your tax dollars) at farmers to make sure they keep producing milk or eggs or whatever fucking commodity. That's the whole reason we have this sort of weird milk-based OPEC thing going on.

I don't really know enough about economics to determine if supply management or direct subsidies are the better option for the end consumer, because either way, money comes out of your pocket to prop up an industry.

Yeah you have to milk them, they get infections in their udders and other issues if they aren't milked regularly. He might've got some unexpectedly good cows. This happens sometimes. It's better to have more of your quota, than less. The feds will take your quota, or reduce it. So you have to overestimate. IDK if 30,000 litres is excessive but it doesnt sound ridiculous for a big operation. My assumption is that was 30,000L over the season, so every time he delivered he's dumped some.
IDK anything about dairy though that's just what I gather from hearing the old timer chat. This was the same way tobacco quotas worked, which I know slightly more about.

The big Dairies buy the contracts to produce x numbers of liters per year. Think Farmers, Scottsburn, Dairyland etc. Those companies then subcontract farmers to provide x amount of milk. That is for the ones the dairies don't own outright. I believe it's an auction for the Federal contract every few years. But no one ever bids for it, because no one can compete with established companies.

The quota system is the only thing protecting Canadian farmers from being swallowed up by American milk which would put the majority of Canadian diary farmers out of business.

Any farmer who produces 30,000 liters over there quota is retarded. This propaganda to abolish quota and it'll lead to the destruction of thousand of Canadian jobs. That'll once there gone they will never comeback.

And if we as a country are ever in a real crisis who's going to feed us. America's going to feed itself first. You cant rely on other countries to feed ourselves.
