You wouldn't have to worry about delegating congressional and senatorial seats in Canada.

Just make them into honorary American territory with no voting rights unless living in annexed Canada for 20 years and completed American reeducation.

Exclude certain members of Canadians like people who became a Canadian less than 10 years and Permanent resident must return back home.

Refugees must go back home.

That will remove about 4-5 million from the population.
 
Just got back from several supermarkets (Southern Ontario). The shift between last week and today is shocking and apparent. Many of the shelves have become more uniform with entire shelves being made up of a single product like stuffing mix or bags of rice from the same company (where there used to be many different brands and kinds of rice). Canadian products have been hastily set up in their own displays on the ends of the aisles, also with a lack of variety. Prices are the same as before for now, but I'm assuming that's going to change very soon. Stores are very clearly preparing for a lack of American imports.

Just turn Toronto and its exurbs into its own state, separate from Ontario, and all of the problems with taking Ontario are solved. The level of spite against Toronto in the rest of Ontario isn't quite Alberta-tier but sometimes you'll hear some wild shit. "Go back Toronto" isn't just an outside-of-Ontario thing when people parachute in and start talking about how much the local culture sucks and needs to change. If Ontario were taken as-is, it would be a blue-leaning swing state.

If Toronto and Ontario were both separate states, you'd have a small blue state with a few EC votes that always go Democrat, but the rest of the province would be a purple swing state. Split off Vancouver Island and the southwestern coast of BC from the rest of BC, same thing. I think, contrary to popular belief, you'd have a slight net-gain of red states if you annexed Canada when you account for the fact that some of these "blue states" would in fact be swing states, even without carving them into smaller states.

Plus, you can even make Vivek people happy by just suddenly having the "Silicon Valley" in the Northeast they keep bitching about be its own state.

Worth noting for both Americans and Canadians: healthcare policy is state-level in the US. If Canadian provinces wanted to, they'd be able to have the exact same health systems they currently have in Canada, if they became US states. Whether they would choose to do so, no idea.

Anyway, I can't wait to proudly cast my vote at an Ontario polling station for Donald Trump's third term.

Wishing every Canuck here well, you guys don't deserve to suffer for your retarded establishment. In many ways Britain is an incredibly similar and grim situation, however even Starmer was wise enough to start sucking on Trump's schlong as hard as he possibly could and that's the only way we've avoided the tariff rage (so far). Hopefully in the future there can be greater cooperation between us and the other former dominions, but for now, as I said, I'm praying for you fellers.

With all that being said however - Nuke Toronto and Birmingham.

The actual joke are all of the Canadians saying they'll do guerilla resistance against Cheeto Hitler. Oh yeah, the Geneva Conventions. I remember when the heroic Skinnyfat Cubicle Monkey brigades held the line at Somme, when the I Got PTSD from Selling Weed as a Teenager battalions stormed Normandy, and when the Doughy Stoner brigades laid down their lives at Vimy Ridge.

The simple facts of the matter is, I don't owe Ottawa or Toronto a damn thing. They have done nothing but actively make life worse on purpose, and they have done nothing to earn loyalty from the populace. If other people feel otherwise, they can; it's a free country after all. JFK (whose greatest contribution to Canadian culture was regime-changing Diefenbaker so that Trudeau Sr. could come in a few years later more or less unopposed) was right to a point, but eventually you really should ask "what can my country do for me?"

There is no way that the USA wants all of Canada.....it is incompatible culturally in some spots and politically it makes California look like alt-right.

Logical breakdown would be Alberta+ Saskatchewan+BC = 10 million people (let's call it Buffalo)

Ontario + Manitoba = 16 million (let's call it Laurentia)

Cede Quebec to France and build a 100 metre wall around it - you do not want Quebec (unless you take all the French speakers and hive them off to France)

The Maritimes (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia) as a single state = 2.2 million (call it Maritimes)

The Territories either remain as territories or become part of Alaska

I think there will be a hell of a fight over the indigenous people who basically say that they own all of the country and therefore they should get it back. It would be some delicate maneuvering to work that issue as they are entitled as they come and have no skills as a group.

I would say for the first 10 years that each of states would not get senators as they are too inexperienced to actually understand the workings of the USA. I would say that maybe even pairing up senators (e.g, a bordering existing state provides senate coverage for the "new" state)

So each state gets states rights, a governor and legislature just like any state and have significant education program to train the Canadians in US practice. It may even be best to have the first term or maybe even the first 10 years run by an appointed governor and cabinet - again, likely from a neighbouring state .

Financially, you'd have to take over the Canadian debt but that may well be a relatively minor deal considering the currency is falling like a stone and heavens, who will notice Canada's $1trn in amongst the $30trn or so you already have on the books.

There are some good assets to take over, pension funds are in pretty good shape and you could shut down all manner of departments in government.

Health care would be a sticking point for many, easy way out of that is to allow each of the new states to continue with their existing health care system as a state matter and then let their citizens decide. For me, if I could save $30k on my income tax but had to pay $30k for good health care (I am 68, wife is 54) I would switch in a heartbeat as our experience in Colorado and Texas is that the health care is superior, just very expensive.

Anyway, I have said several times in my newbie posts - I have been here all of 3 days - Canada is a failed state, its collapse is getting closer by the day, but it will take an economic collapse or inspired leadership on both sides of the border to make this happen.
