Yes, Trudeau intends to resign upon the election of a new party leader, serving as Interm Leader himself until the election of that new leader. Technically speaking, that's:
Hilarious that Trudeau dodged a non-confidence vote by getting Mark Carney to be immediately subject to a non-confidence vote that Carney will lose (Unless Jagmeet decides to prop up the Carney government till October, likely)
lol holy fuck, Donald Trump made the Day of the Rake meme a reality, based
Your average White Canadian does not need to be raked only the Laurentian Elite / Family Compact class of Financiers and Useless Government Eaters (Bureaucrats) need to be raked.

Unfortunately due to the utter retardation of Public Sector Unions the Government workers will be just fine while the rest of us get Raked.
Is Canada actually gonna suffer its own great depression or is everyone here just doomposting since the country is already shit?
Your average White Old Stock Canadian is already fucked financially, so I'm just hoping the Trump Tariffs rape the Laurentian Elites / Family Compact as much as they raped us financially.

Remember to do your patriotic duty and and petition your local mp to support annexation.

Cisalpine Gaul Canada shall be the republic's once more.

I'm not really sure what Ottawa's end game is in trying to take the Bull by the horns.
The endgame is to boost the party's electoral fortunes by using Trump a boogeyman and paint Poilievre with the same brush to stay in power. Similarly, the push the coronate Mark Carney as the new leader of the Liberal Party/Prime Minister to put a new shade of lipstick on the same pig. All of this is short-term thinking compounded by tunnel vision that afflicts our elites.

At this point, would it be considered the day of the rake, or the day of the flush? There's so many jeets here that I don't know what to call it anymore.

Good luck to our Kiwi Leafs. 🥀

Some snippets that stood out to me:
Speaking from the Oval Office Friday afternoon, Trump confirmed it was full steam ahead on imposing 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports.
Trudeau and Trump have not spoken.
The Bank of Canada also cautioned that a trade war based on 25 per cent tariffs would trigger a recession.
Doug Ford, on the campaign trail to win re-election as Ontario’s premier, delivered his own warning to the U.S. president.
“If President Trump proceeds with these tariffs, Canada can and should make him regret them.”
“Of course,” Trudeau said, “I won’t sugar coat it.”
“Our nation could be facing difficult times in coming days and weeks. I know Canadians might be anxious and worried, but I want them to know the federal government and indeed all orders of government have their backs.”
Chrystia Freeland [...] released a statement through her Liberal leadership campaign that Canada should release a list of potential retaliatory tariffs “on $200 billion worth of American imports.” She also wants to target Tesla, owned by Elon Musk.
The point, she said, is to “hit Trump where it hurts.”
The government has shown no signs of being willing to recall Parliament earlier than March 24.
:lunacy:

The US is our largest trade partner by far, but a lot of what we sell to the US isn't exactly luxury goods (potash, energy, and oil) . There are obviously some industries that the U.S. would prefer to have in-country (like car manufacturing). We will likely see a downturn in the automotive industry, and if these tariffs apply to energy/oil, both the U.S. and Canada will be in for bit of a rough time. We don't really have the infrastructure to sell our energy/oil elsewhere. Similarly, it's not so easy to spin up a brand new power plant.

Just a guess, but I would suspect it would hurt both countries, but Canada more so. No one really knows for sure what the long term effects will be, and anyone who does is lying, either to themselves or to you.
Less trade short term, renewed investment to sell to other countries & make higher value goods internally, hopefully a few years of tough love resulting in lower house prices and less pajeets.

I dunno I'm not really seeing a downside. I guess it sucks if you work in one of those few auto manufacturing plants left in the rusty horseshoe.

The only people who work in those few remaining auto plants are Nepo Union hires. So fuck them.

They really do have Big Fish in a Small Pond syndrome, don't they.

I'm not entirely on board with Trumps plans to just shove Canada right out the gate, but whoever is in charge up there makes it hard to be very sympathetic.
I think the Canada press caught a lot of Americans on their heels. Something must have accelerated this. Maybe a clerk with TDS answered an important call. Either way the current government seems confident that they can hit Trump where it hurts so I guess we see what happens. The only Canadian friends I have are hyper progressive so I suspect they're ready to go down with the ship as well.

Perhaps they are really thinking this will work, but they have to think again. Every person that thinks with their ass end up shitting all over the place. (I refuse to say with their heart, these shitlibs do with their asses). Those who are careful naturally do it and are seeing the mess that will happen.

I’m torn. I’ve got enough of a Love/Hate relationship with this Frozen Shithole that a total collapse would suck, but at the same time becoming States… lets be realistic, 51-55 off sheer land mass, brings enough benefits that a total collapse into annexation (give me Rainbows, but I doubt America would tolerate an actual Failed State sharing as large a border as we do) that I can’t actually feel bad.

Least I have some leftover popcorn supplies from your election night. It’s gonna be fun seeing people actually give a shit about Leaf Politics if the Tariffs start to cause some pain up here.

Its really crazy. Trudeau could go down to DC right now and talk to Trump. The man is so easy to please. I'm not really sure what Ottawa's end game is in trying to take the Bull by the horns.
The end game is for them to act uppity and smug with "democracy is who we are" collective psychosis at all costs, regardless of objective reality.

Neoliberalism is to the dystopian West in the same way the 'Mandate Of Heaven' used to be for the Chinese monarchy. All of these WEF 'Democracy' satrapies derive their unwarranted self-importance from their own "enlightenment" (solipsistic nihilism). Any rejection of that, however minimal it is, is tantamount to an admission that Western liberalism is a miserable failure, and assuming responsibility is the literally the last thing shitlibs will ever do, which is why Castro Jr. behaves in the low-functioning narcissistic way he does all the time.

I mean, if things get bad enough the average Leaf starts Luigi-ing Liberal MP's, Jagoff Singh and price-colluding corpo execs, then it might be a bit of a victory.

We're starting to see shit that you don't even see in the states. How long do you guys think until we start seeing complete anarchy? I'm talking open or conceal carry without regard to the law. I've been considering taking my chances lately since arrests are so rare I figure however I'm not the correct type of minority that gets away with that type of shit.
If you are young you will never get a decent job and will have debt forever. Any business has discovered a cheat code to bring in an infinite amount of young men who have no idea what workers rights or a living wage are.
Do you guys have any stories of how bad safety has gotten? Once I find a wife I am %100 not raising any kids here and it feels like a complete slap in the face to my parents who worked hard to move here.
A lot of Canadians are complete fucking drones however I can't blame them. Have you ever talked to a young person in this country? Nobody has any aspirations.

The stereotype that Canadians are weak is incredibly true now. Everything is a scam. The government robs you, their timmigrants rob you, all institutions rob you.

If Canada starts to collapse Trump will likely be forced to intervene because we have a very big undefended boarder and it would be easier to shoot the Laurentian idiots then build a wall.
