Buddy... It's ROUGH
KF should have a UK/Canada employee group that suspiciously consists only of relatively pregnant married white women, who need to come to the USA with their families on an L-1 non-immigrant visa.

The pressing corporate need will end when magic soil citizenship does.

One thing I don't really get... in America, the TV likes to say that American tariffs will hurt America and not hurt Canada, but in Canada, the TV likes to say that American tariffs will benefit America and not hurt Canada at all, but also Canadian tariffs against America will be so powerful that they'll make us trillions of dollars per decade and permanently end our deficit. Has Science told us how this works?

It's almost like the TV news exists to misinform people. If you watch CNN there is no word on why Trump is cheesed off at Canada. It's presented as the President just throwing a fit of pique and completely ignores everything from Trudeau calling Americans "Nazis" in the Truck protests to letting Canada become the middle man for shipping the Asian drugs market and all the dregs of the world into the USA.

DNC/WEF/Globohomo agenda vs. reality.

Canada will basically beat itself up under the threat of beating itself up further. America won't notice anything economically. A few states and special interests will miss out on arbitrage but a point will be made to other nations like beating someone half to death in prison on your first day. Canada continues to volunteer itself to be the example.

It all comes down to that time Trudeau talked a bunch of shit about Trump to reporters as Trump was still on the tarmac and didn't have the balls to say it to Trump's face. Legit big mad.

At least we can buy Canadian. 495 bucks for a stainless steel kitchen knife, 59 bucks for a teflon frying pan. 150 bucks for a T-shirt. What a bargain. Take that Trump!

There's some level of coping on my end with what I'm about to say, and I know that trickle-down economics is true (but only in a bad way), but as a lower-middle class guy I really only see these tariffs hurting the Second Family Compact and the other upper class dipshits in Ottawa and Toronto more than anyone else long-term. If America does wind up annexing us, I can't wait for all of our monopolies and oligopolies to go bankrupt as soon as they have to interact with a free market.

I've been on the Farms officially since 2021 with no PFP.

In honoUr of supporting Canadian heritage through this inevitable trade war, I've selected Canadian hero Kim Mitchell to represent my nationalism.

Might as well go for a soda.

Liberals are going to leave the Conservatives holding the bag and smugly saying "told you so" The same way you are seeing liberals in America blaming Trump for not immediately lowering inflation after seven days and for the airport crash that just happened.
Trump should just refuse to meet with Trudeau and the liberal party leadership and just meet with Pierre instead. Say that Justo is an authoritarian for using the War measures act on the trucker protest and for not calling an election

Pierre can't do anything, he's not the government. Danielle Smith is playing that role already anyway.

Money isn't even real. We made it all up.

So, there were whispers of Justin Trudeau resigning in mid-December 2024 and Canadian Conservatives planned to have a motion of no-confidence for January 7th 2025.

On January 6th 2025 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces that he will resign after the Liberal party selects its next leader.

Parliament is immediately prorogued until March 24th 2025. Justin Trudeau is entitled to his pension sometime in March as well.

I hear people saying that Trudeau has resigned (even from Canadians), but all I've seen is an intention to resign after he gets his pension. Has Trudeau actually resigned or has he just expressed his intention to resign later?

Also, I'm a bit unclear on Canadian politics, but from what I gather from the Community Feature thread it seems like Trudeau wanting his pension is a contributing factor to Canadian Parliament being prevented from properly addressing the tariff situation.

All the Canadian news sources are quoting the exact same sources who continue to repeat that it happens on Saturday. There is zero quote or info from anyone that says March 1st instead of tomorrow but all the journos are running a headline saying March but the articles explicitly continue to say Trumps sources say it will happen on Saturday. I hope it does happen tomorrow just to make the media look fucking retarded for running confusing headlines when there is zero source for March.

"The sources, who asked not to be named because they are not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, said they did not have details on a final tariff rate, but noted Trump has consistently said that he plans to impose a 25 per cent tariff on imports from the two countries on Saturday"

A quote from the CBC article with the same headline. I don't know if journos know what month it is.

I would think Justin locked in his pension years ago? He's been an MP much longer than Singh whose pension kicks in in a few weeks.

In any case Justin has declared he's not running at all next election, not just stepping down as PM. There isn't a formal VP type role in Parliament so he's basically just taking up space until the leadership race is concluded.

Yes, Trudeau intends to resign upon the election of a new party leader, serving as Interm Leader himself until the election of that new leader. Technically speaking, that's:

c. If the Leader publicly announces an intention
to resign or if the Leader delivers to the
National President a written resignation or
a written request to call a Leadership Vote,
then the Leader ceases to be the Leader on
the earlier of the appointment of an Interim
Leader and when a new Leader is elected by
Registered Liberals.
d. Upon the occurrence of a Leadership Trigger
Event, or if the Leader publicly announces an
intention to resign or if the Leader delivers to
the National President a written resignation or
a written request to call a Leadership Vote, the
National President must call a meeting of the
National Board of Directors to be held within
27 days, and at that meeting th

The only (realistic) way to avoid losing his (Interm) Leadership of the Party (and stay on as Prime Minister, too), is if Trump's tariffs are implemented before the election of the next Leader, giving him the excuse to invoke the War Emergency Measures Act, either as an International Emergency or as a Public Order Emergency.
international emergency means an emergency involv-
ing Canada and one or more other countries that arises
from acts of intimidation or coercion or the real or immi-
nent use of serious force or violence and that is so serious
as to be a national emergency. (état de crise internatio-
nale)

public order emergency means an emergency that aris-
es from threats to the security of Canada and that is so
serious as to be a national emergency; (état d’urgence)

In that case, he would be dictator, without parliamentary accountability, until either the King fires him or the emergency is over. That would be hilarious if Sparkle Socks played Cheetoh Blumpf into handing him dictatorial powers in Canada. A "tariff war" with the USA would be grounds for War Measures indefinitely.

As for the pension stuff, you're thinking of Jaghmeet Singh, leader of the Democratic Party, who has been keeping Trudeau's minority Liberal government in power with a coalition that's not a coalition because it's called an agreement, or something.
