The process to leave Canada was worked on by all the provinces in the 1990s which was the last time Quebec had a referendum about the issue. The Meech Lake Accord was a failure, nothing really finalized. It ended up in the Supreme Court, in the Secession Reference case.Why hasn't Alberta/Western Canada seceded yet? I though Alberta was a cash cow to pay for Eastern Canadian entitlements.
The Clarity Act is a pain in the ass. Basically, everyone in the country has to agree to let the exiting province go.
