It is dumb as fuck, the vast majority of our production goes to the US. Due to the dollar, we don't import a lot because it's expensive, the entire economy is built around it. It is also due to how our economy is set up, not much cheaper to build things in Canada vs the US. With taxes, power, various unions, and regulatory issues.
