You and your party are a group of boyfriend-free girls who are relaxing in your favorite CWCville food court. As you are sucking down Fanta through the standard arm-sized plastic straws, you are approached by a man holding a sign. Giving the sign a once-over, you see that the man has very efficiently communicated his need for 18-23 year old adventurers to clear out some "darn dirty trolls" down at the community college. The man identifies himself as mayor of CWCville and says that as the one who controls the mint, he can reward you handsomely with as many C-quarters as you can carry. You accept the call to action, and as you head off to the campus, he gives you one final warning about a dangerous force known as the "jerkops" who may stand in your way. It's time to go zap to the extreme!

I head to the nearest Macys to acquire high-priced, pre-shredded denim booty shorts and a cleavage-revealing tank top to proclaim my clothes do not purposely attract the eyes of undisciplined heterosexual males who have a history of drug abuse and acting on whims.

It perplexed me for a long time why people still unironically play Dungeons and Dragons after 1990, easily after video games had long taken over and there were many countless either direct versions or carbon copies of the game, ie most any RPG etc. I wondered this for many years until one of my dipshit friends invited me to one of their remote D&D sessions. The reason why D&D is still popular is because it is an easy, accessible, free way for super losers to make people rely on them and make them think they are interesting. Someone has to play all the monsters and describe the dungeon, basically playing out what a videogame does, this is known as the DM or Dungeon Master. So it's basically like creating a little mini-version of a subreddit where you are in total control and everyone relies on you, since everything has to go through you, you control this shitty little world. It's just for losers to pretend they are important.

Warhammer is not far behind, the times when I went to game shops there was always some little smelly corner full of sweaty 40-50 year old fatties who would always try to overhear what fun game we were playing and go HA! THAT AIN'T REAL STRATEGY! And when I look over none of them are playing the game for hours and when I ask them about it, "Warhammer is only good if you have the right people" which means it is a circlejerk they want to control. There is also an entire subsection of NPCs online who think they are fitting into some secret internet club when they paint the figurines. I've never met anyone into D&D or Warhammer unironically who wasn't a massive fucking faggot

If I had to play devil's advocate it would be that there is a lot more narrative freedom in tabletop.
A video game has a set story with a set series of events, and although many RPGs give some freedom in how you go about doing things or might give you a couple of tweaked endings it doesn't really allow you the same freedom as tabletop where your party might decide to just ignore the DMs not very subtle hints at fun and adventure and decide rather just to fuck off to the country side and become dairy farmers (although I guess in practice most people don't really do this).
