Well, I'm autistic, and I don't understand it. Maybe I'm not autistic enough, so can someone with more autisms than me explain this?

I'd accept that explanation if the original text wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

But you're right. The people that actually peddle this shit want everyone to uncritically accept it. And "getting it" requires more thought than is "politically correct".

It's basically autists and """"autists"""" (aka socially awkward idiots who think that means they have autism) saying that autism makes them too stupid to understand things like gender so they have a completely different one. It's not really that popular and I have only seen chronically online children ever use it seriously so its not worth trying to humor.

Many autistic people have the tendency to want to categorize things into rigid boxes. Men do abc, and women do xyz. Autistic women (a huge demographic on Tumblr) in particular tend to be gender non-conforming, often because adhering to the female gender role involves a lot of difficult social shit and uncomfortable clothes and makeup. I think autistic girls on Tumblr were trying to convey the feeling they had that they don’t quite fit into the “woman” box because they’re autistic.

All this gender stuff is nonsense, obviously you’re a woman whether you adhere to your gender role or not, but that’s not what gender ideology peddles.

ETA: I know that’s a random.txt, but it came from a Tumblr “list of genders” that went around the site back in the day. My husband actually had a sociology professor print that post out and hand it out when he was in college.

Absolutely horrifying. Was the sociology professor a male or female? I get the impression that this is something a woman would do (though maybe I am just assuming since its sociology and involves Tumblr).

The professor was a man, surprisingly. He said his teenage daughter showed him the list though, which makes a bit more sense, but he still bought into it.
