Yeah, he's too far gone and seeing a transition like that over night would come off as psychotic. He can hardly fake being a positive Phil for 4 hour sponsored streams, and everyone knows he is bullshitting. So any positive change to him wouldn't come off as genuine.

Fuck, that would be such an amazing story arc though. DSP just fires up his stream one day and is behaving like a kind, considerate person. Actually talking with his chat in a fun, engaging manner. Stops the money harpying. Graciously accepts criticism and jocularly addresses his failings and screwups.

I'd be waiting and trying to spot cracks in the facade. Then one day he has a fucking brain aneurysm on-stream from the stress of holding it all in. Comes back as the same ole' disgusting, unapologetic, rampant asshole with a, 'Sorry guys, doctor's orders ACKACKACK Go fuck yourself!'
 
Dave tries to be PHASTIVE for a month, He then has a fit on stream, because his brain literally explodes from the PHASTIVETY and his body used to negative bullshit has no choice but to shut down.

it would take some serious therapy and tbh he thinks he's always right so how would this even happen? If DSP got a million dollars he'd laugh in our faces. If DSP went broke he'd blame detractors. There is no situation where DSP can redeem himself I don't think.

The foundation of his online persona is that he refuses to change out of principle. A man's gotta do wut a man's gotta do. I'll never sell out! Who's side I am on? My own! Etc. So no I don't think he can pull a Redemption Run on his life.

When I say online persona, I mean that I came to the conclusion years ago that "DSP" is Phil Burnell's WWF Attitude era wrestling gimmick. He's only one letter away from Diamond Dallas Page DDP, so he should follow his lead and start teaching Yoga classes on stream or something because he sure is burnt the fuck out on videogames.

Seriously though, "DSP" may have cut his teeth in the FGC but hiding behind a camera is where the gimmick truly took on its true form. He used to shoot his promos standing up in his condo, professional lighting and all. I'm surprised he didn't ask Rambo to stand there with a mic and let Phil shout in his face and sweat all over him. It's where he would also call out all the other locker room chumps who were beneath him like Hutch (who went on to get a proper job with Machinima) , Mitch Dyer and notevunarealgamer Toby Turner. Even got shirts with his own face and catchphrases on them and tried to sell them to those kiddies who now hold up "get a job DSP!" signs in the front row for him.

The Phil we see today is still pretty much DSP but it's kinda like when The Undertaker took on the shitty American Badass gimmick (present day Phil doesn't listen to music but Attitude Era Phil liked listening to Kid Rock - who actually did Taker's AB theme song!) or The Ultimate Warrior taking his entire career and character way too seriously. DSP of the past's style was put across (and still is I suppose, just without the envionmental luck of the youtube wild west) as rebellious. He'll make racist jokes! He'll refuse to edit out the boring bits of his playthroughs cuz fuck you if ya don't like it! He'll tell you the Hateful Truth that no one else got the balls to say! Today's DSP's style is shown up for what it is.. lazy and completely out of touch. Plus moronic of course. Anything he's changed has pretty much been by force. He's meek because he's scared of eating a ban not because real hardcore DSP style isn't still lingering inside him.

The people who used to eat this up have grown up and moved on. Sure some are still around but 90% of them who can't let go have to laugh at him to stay interested. They kind of always did? I'm pretty convinced though that trolls whether out in the open or lurking in the background are the ones keeping "DSP" alive with money. They just can't quit him and while he'd love to quit them, I suspect 10 years of this has him completely addicted
to having the ear of a couple thousand people on a daily basis. Addicted to the hate that fuels him and addicted to gin - nothing he could do.

DSP has grown up and become a bit more Phil Burnell - the same guy doing the same shit and expecting to be rewarded in the same way. With no accounting for time, the changes in the environment he's decaying in and with no interest in self improvement. I'm sure though with regards to how much he actually keeps fleecing
every single month he see's no reason to change at all. Self improvement is blowing money on stuff that they tell him will improve his life.. like $300 headphones!

Seeing the physical change he's went through from the Nightmare King DSP Tries It is quite startling. Redemption Run in Real Life would be to get the fuck off the internet, out of that house to somewhere he can actually afford and obilterate a lot of self-induced stress from his existence. I actually wish he would. I've always maintained I really don't hate the guy at all. You can't "know" someone for a decade on such a weirdly intimate level as DSP (even if he doesn't share so much of his odd life as he used to) and not take some level of pity on him. Plenty of detractors, even on here seem to always talk like they want to fix him. In the end though he's the only one who can actually do it - and he tried to eat a spoonful of noodles..
 
DSP in 2010-2013, was the rebel who was pretty over, He WAS unique. He had fans. But he's older, and youtube has changed. He's refused to change. The Hateful Truth was my fave series believe it or not, I used to watch DSP religiously back in 2012-2013. But now, he's stale, Boring, and out of touch.
 
No and never. Look at the relationships he had in the past. He burned the bridges very quickly while playing the victim in every scenario. He never admitted to any mistakes, he put the blame on other people.
 
The first step to redeem himself would be admitting that he fucked his life, but this is DSP is never his fault so no, unless something horrible happen to him and i mean very horrible he will never change

That would be true Phil fashion. He'll redeem himself in his turn at 180 and then keep going until he hit where he was comfortable on his fat ass on the gaming loveseat.
 
Can he redeem himself? Sure, anybody can. Does he want to? Nope. Even when Kat leaves him and later he has to sell his house because he can't afford it anymore, he won't change. He's already too set in his ways to change. He's deluded himself into thinking nothing he does that has negative consequences for him is his fault. He's always been like that, so it's not like there's some former Phil he could return to. The only time he ever changes is when somebody in a position of power over him is monitoring him, i.e. a Twitch mod in his chat, and that's only temporary. I think it was the hope of a lot of people here that Kat would keep check on Phil's worst behavior, but if anything he's gotten worse. So no, he won't ever change. Phil is the Pigroach, now and forever.
 
How many notable (ie known people / other you tubers people / online ppl) has he openly and directly insulted for whatever perceived slight his brain invented??

Guess it depends. Darksydephil is too late. Even if he made every positive change people have suggested it would be after a decade of consistent negative publicity. The internet's opinion of Darksydephil is set in stone so even if he turned it all around too few would notice or care.

I'd give Phil Burnell a better chance to turn his personal life around. He could leave the house and get back into society. It would be tough but plenty of antisocial people make friends and live normal lives. Unfortunately for this to happen Phil would have to unplug from the internet completely either by force or by choice. So even if he redeemed himself nobody would ever know.

Phil's too lazy and comfortable to do either by choice in my opinion. He would have to be forced into a corner and even then he may be too stubborn to do it.

He's been making pretty easy money for a decade. No way he can go back to the grind, even if it some cushy office job. He won't get an office job though there is no way he can compete in today's job market. Maybe as a game tester but that is it. He could work at burger king but he's too stubborn to do that.
 
It's not too late but his problems are caused by his stubbornness, laziness and abrasive personality and I really doubt he's ever going to improve in that regard.
If by some miracle he learned to laugh at himself, stopped being a dick and started playing games he enjoys I think he could produce some great content.

I am afraid he has already passed the point of no return. Getting and having a normal job, especially where he is forced to work with other people and customers who can and will talk back to him, is something that would kill him.
Even a video game related job wouldn't be something he'd accept as his fate - DSP as a playtester means games would never leave Q&A because he would find so many imaginary bugs, glitches etc.
 
Will people forgive him? Without question. The reason he is so vilified is that he's just so awful on so many fronts, and for so long. Everyone wants him to be a better person. The issue is he's completely delusional. He's a narcissist with no skills and he will never become a better person. Literally tiny bits of advice are ignored and insultingly dismissed. He's also a complete moron.
