Barring getting yourself into illegal shit, could you really just close your eyes and pretend angry commenters aren't there until they ultimately move onto something more pressing? Aka tylerthecreatortweet.png

For the most part? Probably. The internet loves when people react, it's what makes things like lolcows so much fun.

Sometimes this strategy even works for very, very illegal stuff too.

Depends on how hard the people on the internet are fucking with you. Drachenlord is so regularly fucked with it would probably take years for the majority of his trolls to finally move on from him if he were to disappear from the internet entirely.

Other than those more extreme cases if you're just some goober like Jack Scalfani yeah you can just ignore them most of the time.

More or less, that's why you're going to notice cancel brigades targeted at sites like this usually work by attempting to quickly whip as many people as possible up into a frenzy and pile onto some unsuspecting provider in the hopes that you can get them to cave before the provider can collect its wits or people can lose interest/question your narrative.

Even if we're talking about internet figures, half the time someone's audience doesn't even know something happened until they themselves address it, and even if you have heard that they did something wrong until they confirm it themselves you're never sure how true it is.

But to be fair that didn't come out of the blue, they locked onto him specifically because he's spent years and years freaking out over every single slight.

Nigger, that retard actively provokes it on a regular basis. Its his own fault that its still continuing after 10 years.

Edit: god damnit..scrolled past your second comment..

Yes absolutely, it's the age old adage of don't feed the trolls, if you don't give people a reaction they want from people online that eventually they will get tired and eventually move on, this incredibly simple advice genuinely works most of the time people do it and more people really should follow suite.

Yes and no. Chris was in prison and people were still obsessing over him. People are going to haunt his ass until he dies. There will be kids yelling JULAY in whatever potters field he's buried in 200 hundred years from now.

Depends on what the "Internet problem" is. And the country you live in.

If you're like me, in my country, you can get arrested for the smallest insult you'd make to the president. I don't think you can ignore that.

No.
In many countries, you can get arrested for saying quite innocent shit online that the morons in the government simply decided is illegal.
That's not something you can just ignore.
If you ignored the internet in the first place, that wouldn't happen anyways.
So yes - ignore it, lurk at most.

Honey, almost every problem can be solved if you just ignore it. Humans make so many of their own problems from thin air.
