Is there a point not buying the most basic bitch microwave from a (relatively) trustworthy maker? I've heard some myths on a microwave that actually works uniformly on food rather than make the plater warmer.

Any advice?

Solution
Any microwave will do the technology has not changed in 40 years. The stronger the power (wattage) the faster things cook. At the very least make sure it has a rotating center and the ability to adjust %power. Other then that I wouls say either 1000W or 1100W is good. Cooks quickly but not so fast thing go from warm to volcano in five seconds.
I got mine at the store I work at. It was used but you just have to throw more chemicals at it than a Viennese village and it works fine. Lot cheaper too.

no. just buy the cheapest microwave available. buy one with the turn-able cog settings, not a digital input one. they're the best. you dont get the beepy buttons, with the horrible sound. they just 'ding' when they finish. there's a bell inside them somewhere behind the panel.
