Is Treasure officially dead dead? Every time I look into it, it makes it sound like they still operate even if they haven't released anything I'm aware of in decades.
They still "exist", and they were supposedly making a new game, but absolutely nothing has come of it to my knowledge. As they are now, they only exist to port Ikaruga to every platform until the heat death of the universe.

Ikaruga's director left Treasure for M2 and his new game, Night Striker Gear, is supposed to come out sometime this year.

Ahhhh Bubsy 4D, the one gaming reboot/comeback.... that literally no one asked for.

I don't get the obsession with bringing back Bubsy. He already had two attempted comebacks (one in 2017 and one in 2019) and they both failed miserably of course (because the games were shit and nobody actually likes him) . Far better franchises (with genuine fanbases) were left to rot over far less.

It looks like it has potential, but from-behind on-rails shooter and sprite scaling don't mix well at all imo. Every game I've played in that vein has the same issue of "depth" constantly feeling off.

Why in the name of God would you want any of those?

For example, Spyro's fans are all troon scalies now, apparently. There was a guy somewhere chronicling a fangame's development and it sounds like a disaster.

Problem is, would an official one be any better?

I point out the rainbow we have already seen on this actual licensed Bubsy game. Could you imagine how Spyro would be treated?

Night Striker doesn't have an issue, you have an issue

possibly of the skill variety

There will never be another Tonic Trouble...
There was, it's called Rayman 2. No, really, it was quite literally just a prototype for Ubisoft to test how well they can design a 3D platformer, before they went ahead and made Rayman 2 one(it was originally a 2D platformer just like the first game, prototypes for Jaguar exist).

I want a Rayman 4, and it looks like after the 2022 Christmas leaks on 4chan we might get it thanks to fans recreating it. No point in waiting for Ubisoft to kill him off for good, might as well give the fans a chance(even if a lot of them are troons).

Excuse me, there's someone more important than Ristar that needs the attention right

But yeah all jokes aside. What kinda monkey's paw wish did accolade software make to give this orange bastard 9 lives?

Atari is helpful enough to provide us a power point of all their IP’s. Bubsy is probably among the most recognisable aside from old arcade stuff.
