A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Some good news for once!

Turkey Twizzlers may be coming back.

Jamie Oliver on suicide watch.

That may have been the dumbest proto-woke decision of all time. It seemed like utter insanity at the time for a company to cancel a highly profitable flagship product because some upper class cunt thought it was poor people food, basically. That kind of lunacy became much more common around that time.

On one hand, I applaud Jamie making big fast food chains sweat and bend over backwards to flagillate themselves. (This may also have been assisted by the recent release of blatantly shit documentary "Super Size Me" in which the lead actor failed to notify anyone he basically starved himself before beginning to eat mcdonalds and coaches children to ask if Jesus Christ is George Bush)

On the other hand, none of those places have begun to serve better food because of his whining. He started a panic over sugar which caused tons of products to have it replaced with more harmful chemicals after stupid legislation was put in place to appease this retardedness.

From what I've seen all of his cookbooks are full of the sort of "fusion cuisine" woke people eat.

Fuck him, Ramsey's way better.

Speaking of obesity, I'm actually pleasantly surprised with the Better Health scheme. It looks like they're offering memberships with commercial weight loss brands at reduced prices and discounts (controversial, but I know quite a few people who've lost a lot of weight with things like Slimming World and maintained), online classes and videos, an app and a diabetes prevention programme if you're deemed a high enough risk.

The advert isn't half bad, either:

Credit where credit is due, I'm glad BoJo is taking the link between obesity and covid-19 complications seriously (although I imagine it would be hard not to, given what happened to him).

Self-flagellation does nothing of any use for anyone.
I mean, you're right ...I'm just not a big fan of fast food and found it funny.

A (probably now deleted) quote from an MDE freezeframe or video description comes to mind: "...the same way I feel about fast food. If we really are going to be pigs with no standards we should all just kill ourselves"

Shitty change.org petition: THE S*N MUST APOLOGIZE
The Sun: *apologizes*
Shitty change.org petition: REEEEEEE NOT GOOD ENOUGH

This is what they get for throwing Mark Meechan under the bus.
I've read a lot about Hillsborough, it sounds kind of romantic considering how many people experienced their first crush there.

What does that make the Heysel disaster?.... That little incident Scousers never seem to want to discuss when they're whinging about Hillsborough.

We all know Hillsborough was the fault of moronic scousers who turned up without a ticket and rushed the gates but that's just not PC so we had to have another enquiry and a show trial of the (retired) match commander just to appease the knuckle dragging morons. We all know what football mega fans are like.

I love the sun for how much it pisses of the "right people". The more they make them ree the better.

If you want to see some scouse ree'ing have a look at the talk page on the Heysel disaster.

Unsigned comments about how the wall 'just fell down'...

It's weird because there's a few examples of that typical Scouser thing, of claiming to have been there. If every Scouser that claimed to have been at Hillsborough had actually been there, it would have been like Mecca on a busy day.

Bullshit, even if some of the crowd didn't have tickets that isn't an excuse for what happened, they manage to let in ticketholders and keep others out at all the other football matches without causing people to be crushed to death. At Hillsborough the police fucked up initially, failed to react when the crush was happening and then attempted a cover up afterwards.

The pushback against the smear campaign started by the police and ghoulishly fleshed out by the Sun (supporters pissing on the hero police etc.) was a long struggle. Your idea of the balance of power being on the side of scouse football fans is laughable. Say what you want about a victim mentality but they were shat on by full weight of the establishment and the media and they refused to fuck off quietly and have the memory of their dead defiled.

As for the policeman who was cleared, this is the same county that had high ranking police going to Jimmy Savile's weekly breakfast clubs and more recently covered for Muslim rape gangs in Rotherham so he's probably fortunate they were just investigating the football match.

I know hardly anything about the Heysel disaster but even if Liverpool fans killed all those Italians intentionally it doesn't mean different Liverpool fans hundreds of miles away and years later deserved to be herded to their deaths by Yorkshire police. This is the same logic that demands endless war in the middle east or reparations for modern blacks in America. That's not how responsibility works.

If you get off on Liverpool fans dying and want to celebrate it then go ahead, they still do it about Munich air crash. But admit that's what's going on rather than an honourable appreciation of karmic retribution.

Well, it looks like my attempt at injecting a bit of shit humour didn't work and suddenly everyone's mad at each other.

Can't we settle this in the traditional manner of drinking a few pints of Special Brew and having a drunken brawl in the pub car park? Let's all meet at the Red Lion at about 7 tomorrow.

I'm not interested in defending Yorkshire police. However disasters like Hillsborough never have just one cause. The Police played their part, the obsession with preventing a pitch invasion was moronic, If you're trying to keep two large crowds separate, a large central open space where crowds could be maneuvered might be handy.

Likewise the FA who couldn't maintain standards in the grounds, it wasn't as if there wasn't money there, 1st division football in the 80's wasn't starved of cash.

However if there was going to be a disaster, it was always going to involve Liverpool.

The Two Worst stadium disasters in Europe both involved Liverpool fans (Bradford city was a fire). It's not a fucking coincidence.

Well it used to be a joke but apparently the teachers unions want this to be the new reality.

"The government shouldn't be marking down the results, look how many got adjusted down". Yes lots got adjusted down, it's still another year with the best results ever so can't be that bad. The people who actually are the top performers are the ones who get told to fuck themselves in this system because they have no way to stand out in the "everyone gets an A" system we have now.

If a student can get a school to write a nice recommendation, and massage the UCAS form, then the well connected applicant can leapfrog better students, once everybody hits the A* wall.

It's one of the reason private school students do so well. Not that there's anyone in the UK media that's willing to point this out to the public who have already got their pitchforks out.
