A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

It's a good documentary. It introduced me to the Trojan Horse Scandal, which turned out to be completely, 100% true. Boy, that got memory holed fast. It also had quite a few non-whites in it who basically said "yep, the East End is complete shit now".

Why do you Brits have so many blacks on your telies
Because they all live in London and all the entertainment industry is in London.

This creates other problems. For example blacks are only like 3% of the UK but 13% of London. The BBC tries to equally represent them and gives them 3% of roles but blacks complain because 3% still seems under representative compared to their London ghettos. So they give them extra roles which makes the rest of the country complain.

Please be in London.
Also, there are way more than 13% black people in Brit shows.

Yes, exactly. Because they live in London ghettos that are like 50-100% black and complain that anything less shown on TV is under representative.

Meanwhile in most of the UK you can go days or weeks without seeing a black person.

As though we need even more evidence to reinforce the fact that there isn't a single ruling politician in the British Isles with the ability to find their own assholes whilst squatting over a mirror

Credit card, premium SMS, etc has always been available. Probably everyone over 40 has always expected to pay for porn so they don't care about those things. The cornershop token is the only new thing.

In the 90s/00s most sites had censored previews and required you to "verify your age" which just so happened to require like a $1 charge to your card. Piracy killed off that model but the porn industry tried its hardest to prevent it so it's no surprise that they're happy to go back to it.

I tried to remember some of the old services and found AVSecure. They claim to be some blockchain crap founded in 2017 but the Wayback Machine reveals they're one of those old "age verification" services from at least 2003.

AgeID is another one I vaguely remember. They claim to be a new startup from 2015 but Wayback goes back to 1999.

They may have little relation to the original companies but it's strange how at least two have reused old names...

It wasn’t just piracy that killed it off. It was the fact that Operation Ore was a complete shitshow.

For once, the wikipedo summary of events is pretty good, I will leave it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ore

Most people either have forgotten or don’t know that Ore hoovered up thousands of poor bastards whose only crime was to have paid for legal pornography, but given the total unwillingness of the police to ever accept the horrific errors made in that investigation, I cannot stress strongly enough: do not validate your identity in any way under this mental new scheme.

Please, do read up on Ore. It is one of the most terrifying failures of UK policing in recent decades, and it’s on the verge of happening again.

I remember when the celebrities were named in 2003 but never knew the whole story about it. The article on the US operation mentions that Landslide was mostly just an age verification system:
The systems were automated; webmasters could sign up to the system online and users accessing the websites would go through the payment or login system before being granted access. The principal systems were AVS for Adult Verification System and Keyz because it operated via the keyz.com domain name owned by Landslide.[5]

The AVS system was meant to legally protect the companies from laws against disseminating pornography to minors, as the credit card was used to verify that the user attempting to access a particular website was of legal age to view the website's content.

Also lulz:
Landslide went out of business in August 1999, as the fraudulent charges passed the 1% ceiling, leading to Superior Credit withdrawing its merchant services on August 10. Without this merchant account Landslide could not charge credit cards and could no longer fulfill the primary function of the business. Reportedly, the biggest source of fraud at that time was coming through websites run by US law enforcement as part of a sting operation.

Yeah I remember the Asian dude who seemed OK and assimilated and was commenting on how things changed for the worse in the east end.

God, Britan is so gay.

Was england always a shithole? The more i read about enoch powell and diffrent poltical figures, it seems like freedom of tough and democracy never was a thing they could understand there.
I recently went through Gulliver's Travels where they talked at length about how far society had fallen. This was written hundreds of years ago.

Maybe London could be like Hong Kong? A "special economic area" that stays under EU rules while the rest of the country reasserts its sovereignty.

That's interesting, but if thats true then what is MindGeeks end goal of doing this? Since you need to dox yourself to the website to use it maybe they are trying to do some data collection? Or are try trying to tard cum some money of the UK government by selling them the technology?

They run data collection/analysis like everyone else, they publish some of it as their yearly statistics and that is always interesting.

Jon Ronson hung around the guy start started pornhub/mindgeek and talked to people in general as part of a thing he was doing. Apparently porn is now SEO based. When visiting the set of a porn shoot he was told that the movie they were filming was "Stepmother Cheerleader Orgy", a title/theme stemming from the hot, hot keywords that analysis have shown are frequently searched for.

I was quite keen on seeing at least part of the population get blocked off porn access just because I'm curious to see what would happen since I'm one of those people that believes in the claim that less porn access means more sex crimes.

It's still better if they finally scrapped this idiotic idea altogether, but sometimes you just want to burn stuff to see how it collapses.

Maybe the raping serial killers will make a return.

Maybe they wanted this ID system as a way to blackmail people. Anyway this is dumb, so very dumb, ya know.
