A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Guy told a cop to "Fuck Off" and got arrested - S5 Public Order Act working as expected. Make of that what you will, but that's the law that was agreed on. (Used to include use of "insulting language" as well)

Note that this guy waived his right to a trial when he accepted the £90 fine - otherwise, this would have gone to court and stood a fair chance of being knocked off.
Christ, your country is fucking cucked beyond belief.

The Blitz should of lasted longer.

The funniest part of these Brit Bong police dramas is that it is always Americans who end up brigading the local police agency responsible for whatever outrage against liberty had been occurring that day. Has to really chap their ass to have so many yankee doodles saying what they would arrest their own citizens for.

Seeing all these people go "well he broke the law so he deserved it" are thinking in a rather bad mindset. Instead of thinking that maybe, just maybe, the law and its enforcement might be unjust and considering that is why people are taking up in arms about it, the Brits here in this thread are just lying down and accepting the injustice that is happening right before them. Why do you do this? Why do you accept that the government and it's executive powers should just do as they want because "it's the law"; if they wanted to, they could make anything illegal under law and fine you with that mindset.
What would it be like if doing simple things you do every day could potentially incur a fine because of some sentence in the lawbooks, like wearing a necklace too long because it can be used to choke someone or wearing a hoodie in weather exceeding 25 degrees because you might be carrying a weapon under it.
Would these be illegal if it were in the book? Absolutely.

Would it be just?

Think about it for a bit, then answer that for yourselves.

I do it because if I get arrested and end up with a criminal record I won't be able to travel to the USA, a country I both love and need to be able to travel too.
I don't think any country in modern day times is truly a place of freedom. We are all controlled through our need to have money to furnish our lives with the means to live. We all have to have some form of ID and at least some kind of bank account.

And speaking of ID that is another aspect of the US, the constant asking of ID for buying things such as alcohol. Literally everywhere I have purchased alcohol in the states has asked me to provide proof of being old enough to make that purchase. Less problems buying vape products except in Wa-Wa's where the manager had to come and override the clerk's refusal to sell me vaping equipment.

And this is why they live in a cucked shithole that is going to continue to get worse and worse for the foreseeable future.

We don't. That's a strawman. I just don't think it's an injustice. There's a difference between saying 'I think a stupid person got the appropriate punishment for an act of provocation' and saying 'the government has the right to persecute everything if they just say it's the law'. You're imposing your perspective here. This is not some greater-scope war between authority and freedom. This is one person acting like an idiot.

I consider it a point of pride that every shitposting account I've ever made has been blocked by Police Scotland after trolling it hard enough.

Amerifags living in a literal police state where if you fart in the wrong direction 10 cop cars turn up pointing weapons criticising British Police is fucking hilarious. I see a copper maybe once or twice a week here, we don't even have a local police station anymore.

So getting angry and cussing when someone is basically pulled to the side and surrounded by cops being told "lower your hood and uncover your face" when they have no true reason other than testing software in a trial is provocation? Is it wrong and stupid to want to protect one's privacy?
And about that 'stupid person', you all act like he went right on in with long tirade of cursing with saying he deserved it but reading the article and seeing the video, he was pretty damn patient for what was going on. He said fuck once and it was him saying fuck off and much of his anger came after they fined him. In fact:

‘If I want to cover my face I will, don’t push me over when I’m walking down the street. How would you like it if you walked down the street and someone grabbed you?’
He is told by an officer: ‘Wind your neck in.’

Sounds more like the officer grabbed him and pulled him to the side. I'm sure a lot of people would be rightly pissed if that were to happen. He didn't come off as an idiot and was roughly pulled aside for someone who just really didn't want his face to be seen with those cameras.

And getting to those cameras, since you speak of authority versus freedom, what is your take on them? From what I can see, there are no regulations on their use and while the idea behind the use is to catch wanted people it's clear that they're basically using it as an excuse to just stop and interrogate people who cover their faces in some way. Stop and frisk but with privacy instead of race. What do you think about this?
I personally think that cameras are best suited to filming areas for security, not being used to identify people. If a technology like this becomes widespread, all wanted types will do is avoid where they are located plus they're no good without extra bodies on hand in the area and as of now, the Met is being strained as is with a limited budget and too few bodies.
If they try to use it on a small scale it would create a loop from hell: they set up shop in one area. At first, they catch some people. Soon, wanted people find out and avoid the area, raising crime somewhere else. Catches decrease and the effectiveness of the system is nullified. They then move the system to the new hotspot of crime.
Rise and repeat ad infinitum.

Speaking of a strawman. Unless you live in NYC, Chicago, or LA, the most cops you would see in any given place in the US is usually once a day unless it's the interstate. I see more cops while driving along the highway than I do in my city on any given day.

The short story is that the UK is an authoritative country and the people running it are little paranoid and are generally out of touch with what people really want.

But the long story is: they have issues with sex, hurt feelings, politics, satire, and anything else that causes SJWs to freak out.

This is why Brexit will be a wonderful thing. They can no longer blame Brussels for the fucked up state of their society.

There is NO law against misgendering someone you tard, it's not a crime or even a hate-crime here.

Putting aside whether or not the law in question should be on the books, any cop worth his badge understands the finer points of officer's discretion and that just because you can whip out the cuffs, doesn't always mean you should.

I'd like to see the officers from this story try a shift in inner city America, where you can pull up to the gas station for your start of watch coffee, say "good morning, sir" to the dude standing outside and the hoodrat comes back with "I don't talk to da po-LEESE, honky-ass NIGGA!"
