A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

You guys have it wrong, this man isn't being denied asylum because he's a Christian or because Christianity is violent, he's being denied asylum because he said Islam was a violent religion. Good on Britain for keeping out those Nazi Islamophobes.

Yeah I remember hearing from some guy at a bar Hitler was the Pope of Germany at some point.

In case any of you UK wankers haven't figured it out yet, this is the last red flag they're going to be waving; Fucking run before you get gulag'd, for fuck's sake.

Who else wants to bet that whoever was behind this decision was a muslim who sympathised with the regime that the refugee was fleeing from?

I thought the Book of Revelation was a symbolic prophecy where Jesus and Jehovah did all the violence by causing plagues and famines and such, and nobody was directed to kill anyone, unlike the Quran which has literal commands to kill and fight all nonbelievers, and has perpetual war against unbelievers to promote Islam as a fundamental tenet of its faith.

Correct. It mentions the armies of the Earth beating the crap out of each other at one point, but that's so generic and virtually every religion mentions humans doing that at some point.

If the Saxons had done that, English culture as we know it might not exist at all.
That would be a good thing, since their language was badass and their culture pure.

It also says 144,000 Jews will be saved, as opposed to Islam, where Muhammad said: "The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him."

Which only heightens the irony, as that means Islam is objectively more violent and DEMANDS it's adherents have a body count, while Christianity is about saving people, even specifically the ones Islam would slay.

But then again I'm capable of taking a step back and looking at things logically, something the idiot official mentioned in the OP was too unwilling to do.

i used to ask 'when are brits going to revolt against their obviously illegitimate government?'

now i just laugh because i realized brits are all faggots who deserve this and everything else that's coming to them
The IRA had the right idea wanting to separate itself.
It’s fucking tragic that’s only half a joke.

Can the US invade England soon
Nah. We kinda sorta wised up to the fact that trying to invade and nation build in muslim countries isn't the smartest idea in the world

Jokes aside, a nation's government is often times only as good as a nation's people, just that in this case, the UK has a shitty government because the UK is populated exclusively by shitty people

We have to finish the revolutionary war. We thought we were done once they recognized the US as a seperate country, but no, we just left the enemy injured, but recovering. Now the monster of tyranny rears its ugly head again, once more persecuting its own citizens. We need to do to england what we did to japan. Forcefully excise the current government, top to bottom, force the monarchy to admit they aren't actually divine, then give them a copy of the US constitution to start with and a stern warning that we'll come back if they fuck this up again.

I wouldn't count on a US deep state that, deep down, actually hates the US constitution to impose it willingly on any other country.
