A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

He's made more than two million pounds in the last year from donations, yet he was begging fans to donate money for a budget hotel on over the last week. Robinson is a known coke fiend, and most likely spends millions on the old marching powder - he's off his face in a ton a videos.
Now I'm imagining Tommy and Sargon doing lines together.

I would be interested to know if the tram thing was a normal thing with protests.

Depends where it is. I'd imagine the trams would be diverted through Exchange Square if there was a protest in Piccadilly Gardens and vice versa. The trams stopped at Broadway (which is fucking walking distance from Media City) for their own safety.

Ah, it's Tommy Ten-Names and his false victim narrative that he sells to impressionable people online for the cash in their bank accounts.

I'm sure people don't turn up to counter-protest at his rallies anymore as he tends to humiliate himself - he certainly humiliated himself in Scotland recently.

Tommy Robinson is a nazi, racist, blah, blah.

Donald Trump is the Orange Nazi, he's a Russian puppet. He's going to destroy the world.

Read my fucking post. I went to the protest. I left after 15 minutes.

I think I already had what I went there for and didn't need to stay there for the rest. I suspect the rest of Tommy's video was as shit as the first 15. He clearly did get some gems about Sweeney so they were good to get. Those were for his fans. What happened before the video was specifically for me.

Other info. A few sightings of QAnon, Make Britain Great Again, MAGA hats, American flags.

The people who I spoke to were mainly Christians, good people who weren't buying BBC bullshit. Working class people definitely look chavvier than the middle class, that's a fucking shock. Outside observers will definitely side with the teachers over the skinheads and chavs. I think the police do think the Nazi's are awfully well behaved for Paki murdering halfwits.

I was probably the most violent person there. (Apart from the dickhead stewards who must have got involved with the photog. I'm not going to look too much at the reports.)

I think it's time for me to say goodbye to the Farms. Love you spastics, even though many of you will think I'm a twat. (I am,a lot of the time.)

No, I won't apologise for double posting. Any why is r3tard filtered, you fucking nigger cunts?

The most impressive thing for me in what Tommy did was manage to snag the site he did. My guess is that all the land surrounding Media City is private land and they needed the landlords express permission to host the event there. I don't think the BBC and the neighbouring ITV would have been too happy about their landlord hosting a Fuck Fake News protest right next to their buildings.

Made a mistake moving to Manchester, didn't you BBC?

"A couple people said negative things about a public figure that I like, so I'm going to throw a hissy fit and threaten to leave the site!"

No offense, but I don't think this is the place for you.

I assume it's because it sounds significantly more posh than the name he generally goes by, which clashes with his persona of "working class hero" and "football hooligan".

Can someone tell me what the point of this whole "Haha, his real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon!" thing? The fuck does that prove?

So it's a case of someone trying to pass themselves off as a Joe Baker who's real name is Milburn Pennybags?

I'm surprised Anjem hasn't been approached for comments yet

The man is a snake. He conveniently forgets that the whole story about him getting locked up for breaching the order not to report on the grooming gang almost collapsed the case by way of prejudicing the jury because of the shit-storm he spun around his arrest. That's not speculation, that's coming from the lead prosecutor who was trying to lock up child groomers for life. Only Yaxley-Lennon could be so autistic as to wage a war against Islam and grooming gangs, and almost get a gang being tried let off due to his nonsense.

That's not the first time he's done it either, he had a suspended sentence (which means if you fuck up, you are in jail, but otherwise free + restrictions) for doing that in 2017 and almost collapsing another case. The way he talks about his time when remanded in custody makes it seem like he was in a Thai prison, not in a cell with internal sanitation, electricity, and a in cell tv (HM Onley Prison). He has managed to con the free-speech/UKIP/Britain First into bankrolling his ass at the expense of the party with his nonsense. He's got a known record for making shit up to stir up his supporters, and has a good track record for saying one thing and doing another.

Edit: I completely forgot to add in his mortgage fraud charge. That's right, Tommy "dindu nuffin" Robinson is a convicted fraudster, £160,000 of mortgage fraud. At sentencing, Judge summed up that the fraud was "an operation which was fraudulent from the outset and involved a significant amount of forward planning." - Take from that what you will of the man.

The BBC said the episode would follow its "strict editorial guidelines".

Gotta be the most unintentionally hilarious part of that article.

As for Tommy Whateverthefuckhisnamethisweek vs the BBC?

You'd think Anjem would make a comment in a time such as this, but he's been quiet as of late. Choudhury and Robinson are two sides of the same coin really, and they both rely on their hatred for one another to create content and get the donations rolling in.

No need to build a straw man there. I'm against terrorism as much as the next person, but it's obvious that Robinson is a conman.

If Robinson really is that popular, why doesn't he try doing a rally or a visit to Northern Ireland, specifically Belfast? I'm sure the locals will love him there.

Unfortunately, he would get a warm reception from certain quarters: https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/belfast-news/hundreds-turn-out-belfast-free-14764670

Also the utter sped-fest that is/was Britain First has an interesting recent history in Northern Ireland: for example https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/...n-northern-ireland-this-weekend-37150013.html

I've seen how Britain First (or what remains of it) has been trying to win over the loyalist crowd, especially in Ballymena. Golding has been trying to rile up the locals over Bulgarians in the town (seeing as he can't use Muslims as a target there because demographics).

Robinson and Golding like to have a go at Republican bashing from time to time, and it generally doesn't go down well for them.

Fair enough i'm no fan of Tommy but surely people could choose a better person to rally behind than a coked up attention whore, ex hooligan and convicted fraudster? The journos and social workers who fought tooth and nail doing the dirty work in the Rotherham case get completely overlooked by a guy whose blatantly making bank from riling people up and actually achieving fuck all.

The event was a poorly organised mess according to some of those that went, as it was laden with technical issues - as well as Robinson showing the film late.

They even showed an edited version of Robinson's wedding video to stall for time. It's fucking hilarious.

The "exposé" was being edited up until the last minute, most likely to remove the libellous allegations Caolan Robertson made about Hope Not Hate.

You would think so, but barmy Batten loves Mr Robinson. All the other potential martyrs don't fit the bill like Robinson does with his crafted hooligan background. These guys could form around someone like Meechan for that complete nonsense that was the pug trial, but he's too far left for them.
The party is dead, Sargon's reverse Midas touch killed it.

Sargon was at the rally on Saturday from what I heard, although he sat some distance away from Batten and the UKIP lot.
