https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Sorry if late.

I've heard that the MSM has updated the colour of their weather maps again, adding black to make it look like places have burned to ash, but I've seen no images if this. If anyone has them, please post them.

I have seen the ones posted years ago when they changed the summer colours from green, yellow, and orange to red, dark red, and blood red. I've not seen this new burned black one.

A significant number of scottish independence accounts went silent when Iran's internet was cut off. Turns out they've been running disinfo and disruption campaigns against us for years.
I'm always very suspicious of "political enemy of the day is actually the one behind all these schemes" after all the Russian shit. It would be interesting if someone with a twitter account involved in the Scottish larp would check account locations. A lot of "UK" run social media accounts are owned by people in the middle East openly and I'm convinced it's more about scamming than lying. If you run "Uk for Yukay people" and a bunch of old fogies join you have a huge number of potential scam victims. A lot of them are in the right demographic to fall for it. They're looking for scam victims and to find single women and match them up with foreigners looking for a visa. Fat ugly women on social media getting attention from an average looking Indian will fall for so many scams and even marry them if they sweet talk enough.

Since we're dunking on the Jocks right now it's the perfect time to post this

Former SNP chief executive and Nicole Sturgeons ex husband has plead guilty to stealing £400,000 from the SNP. He has been taken away on remand and is awaiting sentencing. While there's no doubt in my mind Sturgeon knew, the only way I see her getting away with it was singing like a bird before he had a chance to speak.

I have a friend who is a Rangers fan and he insists that she didn’t live in the marital home and spent most of her time with her doctor girlfriend who live in Bridge of Allan near Stirling because the fan forums had a ton of stories about her.

Do you ever wonder if politicians own so many houses so it's hard to keep track of where they are? Must suck being so unpopular you need to jump around because you know everyone wishes you would drop dead and some nutjob might take a swing. If I was that unpopular (fuck off..) I'd try being a nicer person and doing my job better.

I am disappointed in the cinema. Weather like this always makes me want to go out and engage with the world. But it's too hot to do anything but go swimming (too many darkies, I don't want the swimming pool to dye me browner than the sun already does) or go to the cinema. The cinema has nothing to see. Star wars lead by a man who goes on TV kissing other men on the mouth to promote it. Pedo pop star revisionism or a midnight screening of a horror movie that won't get you home until the suns coming up. Think of how we grew up and how our summers went. We'd be at the cinema, going to McDonalds after and having a jolly good time with our mates. Now I can't find a single film I'd want to see let alone take a kid to. Bald nigger and the anorexic, gay man and his pedo fuck muppet or.. Mortal Kombat for manchildren who never got past the super nintendo. Or some 80's flashback like Top Gun which goes right back to the manchildren who never got past the super nintendo.

Some use black, some use grey/white, some use... pink?

A lot of the "comparisons" that I've seen used maps from different forecasters, which all use different (seemingly arbitrary) scales. Something is definitely going on though...

This is the BBC cope article from a couple years ago https://www.bbc.com/weather/features/66293839. They provide this colour scale.

But their map isn't coloured, only the labels. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/map

I think the new MetOffice one is the best here, but it goes yellow a bit too soon.

Made sure not to open the windows today after having them open last night and the heat is definitely more tolerable today, although my sensors say it's about half a degree hotter than yesterday. Seriously considering getting external window shutters fitted. Or maybe aircon from Costco if this keeps up.

I can’t remember the last time I saw something good at the cinema.
Project Hail Mary is worth a watch if it’s still playing anywhere near you, looks nice on the big screen. That Sheep Detective movie is supposed to be pretty good as well and kid friendly, but I haven’t watched that one yet.

I do wonder if there will be any changes to house building designs as things get warmer. There’s a lot of smaller things you can do to keep the heat under control but in the end you’re having to overcome the fact that houses on the isles are designed to retain heat at all costs. Just adding ceiling fans to each room helps immensely, those alone are usually enough to keep you cool up in to the 80’s.

Cinemas seem to be run on pop up events now. Come see this random 80's film on the big screen or this directors entire catalog released one movie a week. Then random weird foreign movies spliced between weeb shit.

Conspiracy theory : Summers are getting hotter because we have more people in the country and less green land. More people produce more heat and less open land means less air flow. It's quite comfy sitting under a tree with a breeze even in this weather.

I wonder why a country on the same latitude as newfoundland would think 17 degrees is uncomfortably warm...
Most people in Newfoundland would consider anything above 20 a balmy summer day. The daily average high in St. John's in July or August is 20. Newfoundland is between -5 and 15 like 90% of the time.

Refute Scottish propaganda with population data - Scots HATE this one simple trick!

So earlier we had an image that implied the creator thought worth was determined by landmass. Now we have one that implies Londoners are of equal worth to other people.

I used to love going to the cinema but there's so little now that isn't polluted with messaging I don't like. Even when you can find something half-decent.

I think his point was that it is manipulative. It really kicked off when Climate Change stuff started getting pushed even harder. I have this one saved though there was another which was more obviously manipulative again.

I shall respectfully quibble on this matter. Modern houses are like that and environmental regs and efficiency ratings are part of it. Also a lot of previously fine houses ended up with fucking cavity wall insulation, the owners never asking why there were cavities in the first place. But older and traditional British houses are quite nice actually. I mentioned up thread about how casement windows should be opened to maximise air flow - sadly can't do that with the more popular bottom opening ones - which are now pushed for fire "safety" (so you can fall out the bottom of them). And old brick houses were good for keeping the heat in the winter but being able to radiate it out in the winter.

They're not optimised for staying cool, it's true. No Spanish style courtyard for letting the heat out through an updraft but still, it's not as bad as you say. It's the modern British house architecture that is bad for hot weather.

Well urban areas do generate more heat and the more people there are, the less countryside there is.

PSA: Everyone with pets keep an eye on them:

You can say when you're too hot. They can't.

And @Otterly and @Kofi Drinka

The Sheep Detectives is bloody good. I'm going to see it again tonight, I've seen it four times so far but with different groups of family members and friends.
Even though it is a family film, the youngest person was 16.

I really wasn't expecting to be brought to tears over fake sheep at all. Neither were all my 40 and 50 something aged farming friends.
But we liked it so much we are going again tonight.

The film makes a nice change to all the reboots and sequels that are being vomited out.

Give it a go!

I'm not a homosexual and I don't pay to see the same movie multiple times.

Project hail mary is too long. I'm not sitting in a cinema for 2 and a half hours. 2 hour movies are bad enough at home where I'm comfortable.
