https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Good Lord the BBC are making a show about the most boring England manager ever
1779513348214.png

I got reminded by some xeet the other day when the BBC made actual quality programming. Kids used to get an animated adaptation of one of the most important pieces of English literature ever written now the best they get literal slop

I hope the BBC gets privatised maybe some good fucking shows would come out of it for once. TBF they do have the best news coverage for live events if you can withstand the labour party line they have to follow at all times.

it's wrong to judge people on their appearance,
No it isn't.

He looks like his face is too big for his body so he grew out his hair to balance it and made things worse. I don't know why you would put him up as your critical choice because he's too easy to take the piss out of. Whitest man in reform maybe?

Despite not liking women in politics, I can see Restore's candidate blowing this wannabe woman out of the water.

The majority of them end up going nowhere but the likes of Carlisle United on loan, but it’s all money and fame (and nothing about Carlisle or their history)
Just decided to wiki Carlisle United bc I haven't heard that name in forever and they're now in the NATIONAL LEAGUE and have former MANCHESTER CITY POST TAKEOVER MANAGER Mark Hughes.

God, imagine having a career trajectory as pathetic as Mark Hughes. At one time it genuinely looked like he'd be the next major British manager.

Don't worry, we've got that guy everyone has 6 stickers of and didn't even want in their album any way. You know the one with the brother or something. Yea.. no the other one.

What's the general consensus on kneecap? I tried listening to their new album and it's dreadful

This sounds like if horrible histories made a rap song about the troubles
There's far better bands who are Irish out there who 1. Talk about Ireland's history (not directly in their music but when asked in interviews about it) 2. Who are political but again, not in the music and 3. Write incredible stuff.

Well. Actually, one, I can think of, VNV Nation. But the dude behind it is based in Hamburg, has lived in London and Canada and in general isn't a massive cunt (truth be told, he's one of nicest people I've ever met).

How are the protests for that dead Congolese thief going? Not a sarcy comment, genuine curiosity as to what the mood is over there.
Most people either don't care or are refusing the bait, especially as if you look at the video, if his death was caused/contributed to by the actions of the security guards, the one most likely to have caused any injury isn't white. Anyone who I've spoken to about in real life are pissed off by the protests, as it's clear race baiting and grifting by people who by their actions in trying to stir shit, are proving that they aren't interested in integrating.

The bigger story is possible the murder of Alexander Coughlan last week, news is slowly starting to filter out and people are looking at it as a counterpoint to how news was blasted everywhere about the shoplifter. According to the MSM, Coughlan died from his injuries following a robbery, with two teens charged, one an Irish citizen, one with dual nationality. But according to locals, he was a gay man, lured to his death by two African muslims. I don't know how true that is, but I have seen some of the video his attackers took of them beating him, and one of the attackers is visible in it and I'd guess he's middle eastern/north African. (I can't find the video now and didn't archive it, as tbh, I hadn't wanted to see it.)

I got a few laughs out of the 'situation' a few weeks ago were the lead singer of Fontaines DC, who is Irish, and sings in Irish, made a comment about not writing about Dublin anymore because everytime he goes back 'it looks completely different', and his fans were appalled that he could be SUGGESTING.... no... this MUST be about the gentrification of Dublin and all that!!! I know he hangs around the Kneecap fags, who seem to be very pro 'New Irish', but the snippet was very interesting.

Yes that video is absolutely shocking. I saw a few gay pages talking about how he was lured off of a dating/hook up app- the EXACT same thing is happening in Melbourne; gay men are being attacked off of dating apps and now clubs are burning down. What's up with that farmer allegedly being driven off his land by a security group of all African hires as well?

In bham, a 'womens only florist' is causing a stir. It's ''Muslimah'' and does not allow free-mixing [of the sexes]. Twitter is discussing why British Muslins (2nd and 3rd gen) are 'like this'. Many suggest that it is our drab and dreary island that makes people extremists ('terf' island mentioned). Later comments suggest that Western countries are becoming MORE islamic while the islamic nations are becoming 'progressive' (likely referring to the situation in Iran as well as the VERY heavy de-radicalisation of the Gulf States and 'Dubai PR'). I believe it is what we have discussed before on this thread; removing people from their homeland, but letting them grow up as 'british-muslim' makes the younger generation more extremist as they try to get back in touch with their identity (see Mothin Ali).
There is also a VERY high chance this florist is some kind of male-run dating service. I know what they are like.

That one's not so straightforward as apparently the man's mother sold the field years ago and he's disputing it. It's a bad look that the security are all foreign nationals, but it's not as bad as is being made out by some on X. That said I think Bord Na Mona, who bought the field, want to put wind turbines/solar on the field and in the last few years I've grown extremely sceptical of those. If some organisation wanted to put them in a field next to me, I'd probably protest them too.

You what time that makes it then? No sharing the footage o'clock.

Wonder if the police also demanded that not be done for the shoplifter?

if you want to lower the price of milk?
Why should we?
Milk is already too cheap. It is an animal product and dairy farmers get pennies for it.
The government shouldn’t be making milk cheap. There is nobody in this country who is unable to afford milk.
The government can put more money in people’s pockets by lowering taxes, which can be done by highly complex shit like, oh I don’t know, not spending billions a year putting illegals up in hotels?

Hey guys, I just found 34 million quid we can save.

The UK Government plans to use more than £30 million on promoting “LGBT+ rights” across the world.

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s five-year ‘LGBT+ Rights Programme’ provides grants to “grassroots LGBT+ organisations”, funds legal work to change laws claimed to “discriminate against LGBT+ people”, and shares “learning, evidence and advice” with other countries.

Currently, the Government has spent more than £4 million of the scheme’s £33,671,438 budget.

‘Pride’ concert

According to The Daily Telegraph, the US Government has also previously provided at least $120,000 to fund Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and pro-LGBT schemes in the UK.

This included $35,000 for an Ohio university to create exhibitions on “LGBTQ+ stories”, and $20,000 towards a ‘Pride’-themed classical concert series featuring “stars of the London drag scene”.

President Trump has now paused all foreign aid, pending a 90-day review into the U.S. Agency for International Development’s spending.

Stonewall

Earlier this year, it was reported that UK Government funding for Stonewall has risen, despite weakening public support.

The pro-trans lobby group’s annual report revealed that “government sources” provided £618,757 to the year ending 31 March 2024 – an increase of more than eight per cent on the previous year.

Decreasing donations and legacies accounted for less than a quarter of its income, while funding from initiatives such as its Diversity Champions schemes also fell, from £2.9m to £2.4m.

Chief Executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance John O’Connell stated: “For years Stonewall has been attempting to drag swathes of the public sector into uncharted waters which most of the British public want to go nowhere near, yet it’s been receiving taxpayers’ money to further its demands.”

Unless you're some kind of bigot who doesn't think the UK government should be funding Ohio's drag queen story time.

I wonder how many more billions we could save if someone cancelled all this international bullshit no one wants or supports.

Terf island strikes again
‘can’t go in the men’s because I’ll get raped.’ So you, a man, expect all the women to be ok with a man in their toilets?
A* and A**;
They should never have done this. An A should be the top
it's wrong to judge people on their appearance,
It is and it isn’t. Someone can’t help their height or many aspects of their appearance, but someone unkempt and odourous lurching you should elicit a different reaction to someone polite and well dressed. Danger hair, TRA clothing, etc, ms13 tattoos…

Not sure where else to post it: Yall fuckers got mad road lines. I've been watching both biking food delivery guys and a suicidal biker. Lines up against the curb to what, show that it's a bad idea to run against it? No parking? Then you got ziggies on both sides of the lane instead of indicating whether overtaking is disallowed with the lines in the middle.

And then fucking >zebra crossings<. The one thing you'd think obvious, you got two lines of dots with nothing in between. Only thing I'll give you cvnts is the bike-only field ahead of the cars. Smart move. Carry on.

Single yellow line means limited short-term parking or unloading only. Double yellow means no parking. Red means super-definitely no parking or stopping and is a relatively recent innovation, which was thought up by some bright spark as a cheaper alternative to enforcing the existing rules. The zig-zag |\/\/\/\/| in front of a zebra crossing means no parking and no crossing.

And then fucking >zebra crossings<. The one thing you'd think obvious, you got two lines of dots with nothing in between.
That's a pelican, not a zebra. Zebra crossings are uncontrolled and only used on slower roads. They're striped so that everyone can see them. Pelicans are controlled, so the lights make it obvious where they are. The dots mark the boundary that road traffic shouldn't cross when the light is red. We also have variants called Toucan, Puffin, Pegasus, and the brand new Pedex, which replaces the flashing man with a countdown. Don't ask me why they're called this. Presumably, someone at the transportation ministry was a bit of a bird watcher.

Smart move. Carry on.
Makes it easier to run them all over at once, I agree.

Fun fact: that guy wears a balaclava because he’s a former teacher who is something like a decade older than the other two and looks exactly like the sort of guy who grooms his pupils to LARP as provos amongst other things.

I think a hard drive check is required for that guy.

They’re all LARPers. Completely detached from the grim reality of the troubles and yet ‘edgily’ naming themselves that after the many, many people who were literally dragged from their homes to get blasted in the legs by masked criminals (I do realise some of those getting shot were criminals), and wearing bally’s themselves.

Fontaines are a brilliant band though. I sold tickets I had for them when I heard that their gigs were featuring a section where the big screens would fill with a screed denouncing the ‘genocide’ in Gaza etc. and they had Kneecap as one of their support acts. Shame, but being surrounded by moronic, middle-class, brainwashed students with Palestine flags unironically next to Pride flags would doubtless have killed the vibe.
