A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

good breed of dog there
I've always said they are the easy-mode of Dogs. They are absolutely obsessed with food, so training them is very easy. All you have to do is teach them "do what I say and you get a treat" and they will apply their minds to figuring out what you want of them. I could even tell mine "it's not time" to stop them begging for treats or stressing themselves out for an hour before meal time.

A few weeks before he died my chocolate Lab "saved" me from a small yappy dog out on a walk. The dog was fine with mine but the second it saw me, it started going crazy and doing that false charge thing threatening to bite my leg. My Lab leapt into action and shoved the dog over with one paw, it immediately flipped on its back in submission and my Lab accepted the surrender. After that the small dog was fine. I always tried to make sure my Dogs saw me as their protector, not the other way round but I was still kind of proud of my Lab for having my back there.

Rest in Peace Marley you little legend.

Safe margin = parachute candidate.
I've done some looking into it,and it's because he disagreed with them over something quite vehemently. The preferred labour candidate is a mudslime so would be a shoe-in, unfortunately.

I can't understand why people are so okay with voting for people who despise us so much. It's all so fucking tiresome.

I have one who would challenge you on the easy-mode idea. She is stubborn as the day is long. She's very mischievous and has all the right instincts in the wrong way. She will hunt the entire house for a sock just to have one in her mouth. Doesn't matter what else you try to give her, she'll hunt out a sock. She's completely trained and yet she'll still constantly try to challenge the pecking order. She's the type of dog who you can offer steak to and she'll turn her nose up at it Monday through Thursday, but Friday to Sunday she'll take your hand off. She is far too much like her owner, but I've figured her out and know counter behaviour that cuts through her bullshit. Like the usual whistling she'll ignore because she just wants to, but if you whistle a certain song she'll run to you and sit at your feet. She's a great dog, but it took a lot of effort to find out what worked with her. She probably left her Mum a bit early and it took her longer to grow up than it should have. But she's alright now, just got to watch out for stray socks when you get dressed in the morning.

A 16 year old girl was stabbed by a gang of five, both male and female, aged 17-19, in Leeds.
The family of a 16-year-old girl fatally stabbed in Leeds say they are “utterly devastated” by her death.
West Yorkshire Police have formally named Chloe Watson Dransfield, of Gomersal, who was found unconscious in Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, at around 6am on Saturday.
She had been stabbed and died in hospital later that day.
A fifth person, a 17-year-old boy, has been arrested today (Monday) on suspicion of murder.

He remains in custody, along with two 18-year-old women, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder. The suspects are all from Leeds.

It was a teen boy at the centre of the Scott Mills investigation. No alarms and no surprises
The BBC sacked Scott Mills after learning of a 2016 police investigation into alleged "serious sexual offences" against a teenage boy between 1997 and 2000. The case was dropped because of a lack of evidence
The Met Police said: "In December 2016, the Met began an investigation following a referral from another police force. The investigation related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. These were reported to taken place between 1997 and 2000. As part of these enquiries, a man who was in his 40s at the time of the interview, was questioned by police under caution in July 2018. A full file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, who determined the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges. Following this advice, the investigation was closed in May 2019"
The case was dropped, but where there is smoke there is fire.

LMFAO

There has been numerous BBC presenters and hosts sacked and arrested for touching kids but it's somehow still up and running, meanwhile fuji tv in Japan almost imploded because a single male presenter sexually harassed a female employee.
BBC knew about this in 2018 and he was still there. They've known about all of them, protected each of these fuckers and it's still in operation! There's going to be a media tax keeping Epstein's tv channel going and there's not a thing you can do about it.

You can't hate them enough!

Guido claiming the supreme court of the british indian overseats territory (which is a real court I've just learned) has ruled that Chaggosians have right of abode on Chagos, which means they weren't lawfully evicted from the islands. Ruling is attached.

This puts a big dent in the treaty handing chagos over to mauritius. The Chaggosians objected to the deal, on the reasonable principle that it's not fair to hand their home over to a third party, but without right of abode were not recognised as stakeholders and so were ignored. Now that the islands are legally their abode, ignoring their objection is a breach of international law.

Decided to go home at lunch time today because of work-related bullshit. Didn't tell anyone (I've handed my notice in for this job so who cares), just snuck off. Now I've got that awesome "bunked off school" feeling.

Edit:

That's awesome. Wonder what Mr International Law will do now?

Gomersal is posh as fuck. I can see this being taken very seriously as it sounds like a nice, rich, white kid has been stabbed (maybe for her phone/clothes/handbag/trainers etc). No-one gives a shit if it’s a white kid from a poor area of Leeds (of which there are many).

How many guesses do we need as to the background of those involved in the stabbing? :pickleman:

How do we apply to that court? We can get our home recognised the same way.

Karl Turner MP has had the Labour whip suspended after criticising the Government's reforms to jury trials
It’s understood several Labour MPs raised concerns about a recent interview Turner gave to activist Jody McIntyre, who stood against Jess Phillips at the last election. Turner said: "I am being told that I have had the whip suspended but I have not had any notification from the whips about this. It seems journalists have been told but I have not"
Update: It's understood Turner was told by the Chief Whip earlier today via email
However, 41 minutes ago, Turner said he was not aware of this

The first signs of the Green/Muslim split may be happening but I may be :optimistic: after Polanski danced with male strippers a couple 'this is degeneracy' videos with 100k+ views are popping up.

Turns out a gay Jew doesn't get along too well with fundamentalist Muslims, who knew?

BBC is running anti-dog propaganda again.

I can't find any other source for this video right now, so here's a shitty youtube short.

This sort of thing makes me want to get a dog. And eat more Bacon.
Dogs are generally a good judge of character, as are cats. I had an old cat go absolutely mental at some guy who knocked on our once and I swear he was up to no good. There are badly trained dogs, but the average pooch reacts as they find you. Oddly, while I’ve been jumped on and sniffed and slobbered at a fair amount, I can only think of one occasion I was actually afraid of a dog in public and that was some insane pitbull abomination that was tearing around a park being aggressive at everyone.
Dogs for all. With sausages.

Why don't you have a dog? I hear white girls love them more than anything!
I have cats. I can’t look after any more animals , I’d like a dog but I work, long hours, and I can’t give a dog the lifestyle it would need. I do like dogs, if I had space I’d have a couple of ex farm collies or something,
The white girl/dog thing is just another anti-white girl slur. There’s a significant anti dog campaign and an anti-white girl campaign too ..,

They would be a very lot of work.
Yeah collies need a lot of exercise. Lovely dogs though, as long as you can keep them occupied. Most of the working breeds are, if you get a decent one.
I’d only get one if I could meet that and right now I cant and frankly I likely never will. Once I’m retired I’ll be too knackered to keep up with a collie.
Cats suit me better at the moment.

We look after a bedlington terrier. I'd never heard of the breed until I moved up here. They're lovely little dogs. Wool, not fur, so hypoallergenic, good even temperament, very protective and pretty damn clever. They're funny looking little things, with long legs but I'm a real convert to the breed.

I'd love a dog of my own but it seems unfair with working nights. I have a colleague who has a pug-jack Russell cross (apparently this is a thing to breed out the brachycephalic tendencies and she's a nice dog to be fair, she's called Betty) and she's loving him working nights. His partner works days so there's always someone home and she loves it.
