A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

@ApeBass, I've looked into weighted blankets. Are they very warm, in your experience? I wouldn't want one that's top hot on me but I'm willing to give one a go for sure.
That was a concern for me too - I'm someone who likes to sleep with the window open in January to avoid overheating! I found a "cooling" one from Silentnight, I don't know how it compares to others but I've not had a problem with being too hot, even when I put it on top of a duvet over winter. I typically just use a sheet and the blanket though.
Good luck in your quest for melatonin! My doctor was useless, wouldn't prescribe anything while I was pregnant, just told me I wouldn't die as long as I had 4 hours in total, which wasn't very helpful while caring for a toddler.

I hear they’re building one in Doncaster, that’ll be a graft too…
I suspect that very shortly nobody will be building AI datacentres, thanks to the Iran situation. Not only is the cost of energy skyrocketing due to Hormuz, but so is the cost of helium and sulphur, and you need both to make the semiconductors those fancy Taiwanese chips use (plus you've also got to ship them, which is getting increasingly expensive).
Farage 100% so long as its Trump. Kemi 50/50.
Rather refreshingly, Kemi has actually called Trump childish for his singling out of Keir. Say what you want about Kemi's approach to being the opposition and Keir's (lack of) approach to governance, but we as a country should unify that America shouldn't be continually shitting on us when literally no American ally - regardless of NATO status - wants to be drawn into the US-Israeli shitfest.
Farage only wheeled back his stance because he ended up with egg on his face after Trump refused to meet him at Mar-a-Lago.
Chemical sleeping aids are for sissies, real men do 14 hours of solid grafting and then fuck someone elses wife before collapsing into dreamland.
I don't agree with this but the old, boring solutions can be really helpful. If you're having issues sleeping, put sunset filters on your screens to limit blue light after a certain time, switch your devices off a couple of hours before bed (and just read a book or whatever) so you're not overstimulated, drink plenty of water, eat healthy and at a sensible time with no snacking (your stomach has its own input onto circadian rhythms), get some exercise in every day even if it's just a half hour stroll, go to bed at the same time every night if you don't do shift work etc.

I'm lucky in that I have no issues falling asleep unless I'm worrying about something or very stressed, but when I start having issues I make sure to follow all those adages. If you're an insomniac, that won't cure you, but it does help.

This is a little off topic so apologies, but does anyone have any experience of getting decent strength melatonin in the UK please? My sleep has gone to shit the last few weeks and I'm currently doing 12 hour night shifts on about 4-5 broken hours kip.
I get mine from doctorfox.co.uk, you just have to say it's for jetlag. The only thing it will do, though, is help you go to sleep, it won't help you stay asleep if that's the problem you're having. It's a hormone that makes you feel sleepy, it doesn't knock you out like traditional sleeping pills. You also shouldn't take it for more than a few days in a row, as long-term use can screw with your body's natural production of it.

I wouldn’t use it long term, there’s some work implying it can cause cardiac issues.
I did some work on it yonks ago when helping other PhD slaves (big up my man James, feeding drugs to frogs is not a serious PhD and I will not be gaslit into thinking otherwise), and they were finding that the body becomes accustomed to getting the stuff at a certain time. So it downregulates your own production of it, and you become...not addicted, but predisposed towards needing it to find proper sleep.

I'll be honest, as much as I despise Farage for being a two-bit carney. For me I legitimately struggle to even think of BAMEdenoch in much of any capacity. I'm not sure if that goes to show just how dead the Tory Party is in the public discourse, or how unbelievable the idea, the sheer humiliation ritual of having a strong BLACK buck toothed woman leading the UK is.

The longer this war goes on, the more I'm willing to bet the Starmbot or at least a non-right party wins a majority. Being tied to MAGA politically wasn't popular already in this country, with the Republicans soon to be swept away by the midterms, I could see it that Farage is also swept away as well, in what fashion is yet to be seen though.

For any Red/Blue retards, this ISN'T an endorsement. This is stating the obvious. As far as I'm concerned for my crystal ball on here I'm 1/1 so far.

Hey did you guys hear?

St. Patrick wasn't really a saint, he was just regular migrant to Ireland. So we should welcome all migrants with open arms and enjoy the crime diversity they bring with them.

Plus we now know that Ireland wasn't colonized by northern Europeans but it's always be a very diverse society made up of many types of north African types with the people of Europe only being a small part of those who made Ireland what is it today.

Isn't that good to know? My thanks President Catherine Connolly for teaching the real truth about my Irish heritage. I will immediately rush down to buy my Irish Muslim prayer mat from my local Irish mosque so that I too can embrace my true Irish roots!

Allah Ackbar Ireland!

LOL, you guys are sooooo fucked.

Do you every post anything but complete shite? You're almost as bad as MiW before he crashed out.

MAGA is popular in the UK. People want our version of Trump. "Make America great again" is a slogan the working class are 100% behind and want their own MAGA movement. Trump is a wanker, but his meme is very popular despite what the media keeps trying to tell you. Fix America, Fix the UK, Fix Europe. Just fucking fix this woke global homo crap.

Tying our political future to the success of the Republicans/Trump/USA is bizarre. The most impact felt by the Iran kerfuffle too was a spike in oil prices that had people panic buying but otherwise aren't invested enough to even pretend to care. The flaw in this logic too is Farage constantly fellates Trump and vice versa and Reform top the polls so it doesn't track.

I've only ever seen this conclusion (the UK is fucked) drawn by people who don't actually live in the UK. Expats and the like.

Lisa Nandy vows to give BBC permanent charter to prevent political interference
I don't know how this works exactly. But from what I understand there is no such thing as permanent. If the next government wants to undo something the previous government did they can simply just fucking do it, there's no law or rule or whatever preventing that. As far as I know a 'permanent' charter would be permanent only for the current government which is shorter than the current one is anyway. You can't bind the next government into doing anything.

I have one. It's really nice. It does get pretty warm but it also depends what it's made of. Same logic as a duvet really, natural materials are better and more breathable, certain fillings are better too. Admittedly I didn't get one for sleeping issues.

Saint Patrick might have driven out the snakes centuries ago but it seems like we need another round. The phrase 'Irish by birth or indeed by choice' idk last I checked I cannot choose my genetics. If Saint Patrick was alive now there would be a fucking crusade. Idk what it is with these revisionist retards but if anyone from before 2000 saw the current state of Ireland or the uk they would think we were invaded. By what depends on the time but if it was from St Patrick he'd think we were invaded by fucking demons.

1773863966120.png

February’s tracker poll found that 13% of British respondents had a favourable opinion of Donald Trump and 83% had an unfavourable opinion.
I'm guessing the war will only make that number go even lower when the numbers in. The most charitable figure I've seen is 41% favourability to the US. Farage is, by proxy, affiliated to Trump all the way back to 2016 only a week or two ago he tried to slink his way to him through Mar-a-lago and failed. BAMEdenoch saying she wished Starmer did more to help the US will not be a good look either when we eventually have an energy crisis directly because of our American overlords.

Just fucking fix this woke global homo crap.
The American Empire is the progenitor of it. The sooner it dies, the better we are. The Americans in that sense, are explicitly not our friends.

Near as I can tell the claimed intent is to remove the 10 year review of the charter to ensure BBC impartiality. I would laugh but I'd rather spit.

Attempts to then toss that on the ground of, "this was a blatant attempt by the previous government to establish a ministry of propaganda" will be met with screaming from rags like the Guardian and Independent, "facist dictators wish to suppress honest reporting!"

I'd personally suggest whoever is in next not abolish it but cleave 6 digits off the funding they receive. I want to see the BBC run on minimum wage

In the month Trump started a war with Iran.

Did you get your data from Reddit?
Hello? The war started on 28 February 2026? The trend will probably have it at -75 maybe lower by the time the data is collated for the month of March. I literally said the most favourable I've seen is 41%, of which still is not popular.

It doesn't matter how many KW users cope and sneed about it and give out dumb stickers, reality unfortunately is that MAGA has used up it's political capital fighting for Israel and is going to be swept away in the midterms. Be glad that Farage is going to be swept away with it too as oil prices continue to soar upwards and the already fucked cost of living gets even worse.

It's the economy, stupid

The only right wing figure to not fall into the same trap has been Lowe, I'm doubtful he has the political instinct to truly capitalise on it as he's playing, in my opinion, way too defensively when he should be smashing Farage into pieces and the Tories for that matter.

As far as I know though is there would be no 'attempt'. It would just be done. The guardian or whatever can bitch and moan but from what I have seen and heard about this there's no way to make it permanent without undermining the concept of a democracy. Hypothetically the government that does remove the 'permanent' charter would just be able to say forcing every subsequent government into a contract they did not agree to is more dictatorial than saying a company should fund itself and not be a mandatory fee for everyone.

It would be possible to just do it for any subsequent governments. Just like they could also;

Defund the NHS
Deport everyone not descended from three generations worth of inhabitants
Rejoin the EU
Sell the country to Trump
Abolish the monarchy
Ban every religion including the state one
Swear alliance to BRICS
Execute every politician that has come before them

Some options may be more popular than others. Theoretically subsequent governments should be able to undo any of those but in practice not so much.

Removing the regular review of the BBC's charter is an attempt by Labour to make eternal funding of whatever point of view the BBC reports a mandate for all future governments and attempts to undo that will only grow more difficult with each subsequent government. There's a reason I opened with the NHS as my example.

In recent memory the BBC has been caught literally doctoring footage for "news", presenting talking points from terrorist organisations as fact and more. Labour's response is to say that the tax paying public need to fund that forever. While a subsequent government can toss that out that they have done this at all is a blatant attempt to fund a propaganda organ.

‘You never know whether they’re acting’: my encounter with the man who spent £50,000 renting girlfriends'

"Inside the Incels Who Rent Girlfriends is an intense one-to-one with T, a British 27-year-old with a good job, who over the past eight years has spent £50,000 renting girlfriends. In the film, his voice is disguised and he is wearing an Anonymous-style mask, which does nothing to offset the menace of the whole picture. He is, as Zand says, completely open about what he wants: a girlfriend who always says yes. I speak to him with his camera off but he’s using his regular voice, so he sounds – well, obviously – much more human and more vulnerable.

Why is the UK Left autistically obsessed with "incels?" Does this documentary maker really believe he's doing some sort of hard- hitting exposé on the chilling world of muh evul far-right fascist Nazi incel terrorists who *deep breath* pay for escorts?

I can imagine publications like The Guardian calling for mandatory virginity tests on teenage boys, with those unable to provide proof of having had a shag yet to be automatically referred to Prevent for mandatory re-education where they are forced to watch Adolescence on a loop for 24 hours.

I guess what I mean is that by removing the regular review it would only bring the next one closer. They either stick with the regular review and maybe labour will still be in power and give them 1000000000000 dollars to continue harassing and threatening people into paying to watch the propaganda, or maybe it'll be Lowe and he'll tell them to fuck off. By removing that scheduled review the review would instead be on election day. And the bbc is essentially giving people more of a reason to support someone who would revoke this shit considering already 20% of people don't pay the fee. You've given your opponents an extra card to play while gaining very little. No one is going to vote for x party to keep this indefinite funding in place. I would say there might be people who vote for someone else but I would be willing to bet the majority of left leaning people who don't pay for the bbc are foreigners and you can't exactly change their vote unless their imam tells them to.
Why is the UK Left autistically obsessed with "incels?"
Because they need something to point to as the root cause of problems women face in this country but can't say the heavily misogynistic religion and the hordes or people who view rape as fun not a crime. It is especially retarded with how the left does it though. I have just gone through two decades of people telling me that my sex life is my choice and I shouldn't feel pressured by society to lose my virginity on my 16th birthday and all that shit. But also if you don't get laid every other week and take part in bullshit hookup culture you're a disgusting incel freak for not objectifying women and using them as a quick shag?

Maybe the government can get some of the hot police officers to do the needful and prevent the crime before it happens. Send them around to deal with the incel menace!
