A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Are you sure? I mean. What's to say you weren't just hitting the floor? Could you see him not moving?
My white stick is made of metal.
Here is a little experiment for you:-

Hit a thin tube of aluminium on the pavement, then go and twat a knobhead with the same stick.
I guarantee that it makes a different sound. Plus the pavement isn't as squishy.

Most blind people have some useful sight, even if only a small amount. It is very rare that a blind person cannot see anything at all.

Has anyone read (and if you're able to archive it,would you mind ever so much would you mind doing so please?) Rupert Lowes recent Twatter post?

I'm 1/2 way through a 52 hour working week and have been feeling deflated lately, but, it's nice to see an elected representative saying exactly what I think.

He has been meeting with the mother of the murdered Rhiannon Whyte (Rupert's tweet archive); membership now doubles the Lib Dems; promises to overturn any law regarding stopping juries; no more public sector translation (English in England, unsure about Welsh/Gaelic policies if any); cracking down on vape shops, Turkish barbers, obvious money laundering; boost domestic energy production (no specifics); no blasphemy or special laws for Islam; and a new branch has opened in Teesside, over 100 constituencies have branches now. A lot basically, but mostly reactions and announcing Restore's policies to events as they happen.

Unarchived yet relevant tweets of his, and Restore Britain. There seems to be a lot more 'other voices', Charlie Downs and co, and some younger lads on the various pages.

"We gave her multiple opportunities to provide further explanation or information to us, after interviews with the men and subsequent evidence uncovered didn't align with her first recollection, as we understand that trauma can impact how victims and survivors recount their experiences.

"Ultimately, as the evidence continued to demonstrate that the reports were untrue, coupled with the desire for justice from some of the men who had been falsely accused, it was right that we followed the evidence and pursued the individual who had actually committed a criminal offence.
This is such utter bullshit.

"None of her story made sense, so we decided to let her keep doing it for 6 years" How did this ever get past the 2nd accusation? As far as I'm concerned false rape accusations are an attempt on someone's life. When you ruin a man's life, take their family and friends away from them and make them the scummiest person possible it often ends in suicide. Women doing this need to be severely punished and made an example out of every single time. Not given 10 swings at it.

at this point im a "my house separatist" where in my house becomes its own country with no niggers spics jews gays or muslims allowed, and if you cross the border illegally you will be raped by barbed wire. Calm down. We already have one weird pervert posting their fetishes all over the place. We don't need another.

The scariest thing about hearing all these anecdotes is finding out how many women apparently use the internet.

For real though I have a story about when I was in Cardiff with my sister. We were walking from the centre out to the bay on a pilgrimage to The Shrine. We had to cut through what was pretty much a ghetto of browns. She was pretty spooked by the whole thing and it was one of the first times I ever realised how bad the whole thing has gotten.

The stories from so many Kiwis are fucking horrifying and it's no wonder this thread's solution is TND.

If I saw that kind of shit happening I would grab my fedora and thousand folded steel katana to defend you Queens.

I was pushed into the road by a bloke while I had my baby in a front carrying sling.
That’s horrific
am Registered Blind,
That’s horrific squared. What is wrong with people?
I just couldn't stop hitting him.
My god if I’d have been there I’d have joined you in pasting him. This makes me genuinely angry. This is the kind of behaviour that should be met by swift and painful retribution immediately from everyone around.

They are afraid that White people on the bank notes lacks DEI but they fear that putting a non-White figure on there will cause more problems. So they're trying to dodge out entirely by putting cute animals on there so they can say "Why do you hate owls" to critics.
Otters on the bank notes. Total Otter Currency Supremacy.

I'll be in charge of that. You give me a £50 note and in exchange I'll give you the £20 note you gave me with a cute little otter printed onto it using advanced printing techniques in India.

appalling judgment

I've not seen any thing like that.

None of those news stories have been posted in the thread, so they're fresh here. They use a good range of news papers unlike your links which are just the BBC over and over. The post they were copied from was put up 3 hours ago using todays headlines.

This one is easy. There's a psychological phenomenon called target fixation, where a person becomes so focused on an object that they instinctively turn towards it. If you're standing still it's not a problem, but if you're moving and trying to avoid the object then it becomes an issue. In a car, it can be fatal, and is the likely cause of a lot of "suddenly swerved towards me" accidents. The driver is caught by surprise by someone stepping into the road, tries to avoid them, but is so focused on the person that they instinctively steer the car towards them. This is taken into account when deciding if driving was truly dangerous or merely bad.

A tad late, but it's not only psychological, but also physiological. You tend to travel towards where your eyes are focused, but if your head is turned, your body is going to want to naturally align your spine. You can test this at home by turning your head to the left or night and attempting to walk in a straight line. This is why target fixation is such an important aspect of riding a bike or motorcycle. The natural inclination of your body to align will caught your shoulders to pull towards where you are looking. Meaning, if you take a turn a little too fast and you start focusing on that ditch you're headed towards instead of the road, you're making it physically harder on yourself to turn away from it. Conversely, looking up and into the inside of your turn helps by pulling your shoulders in. I ate absolute shit as a teenager and learned this the hard way. Try to point your head one direction and turn your shoulders the other way without rotating your waist, and compare to it attempting to do so in the direction you're looking.

As an aside, someone explained something similar to me about why people are drawn to inverse looking controls on controllers. The inverted scheme mimicks the articulation of the neck; tilting your head towards causes you to look down, while tilting it backwards causes you to look up. I've never been able to use inverse controls in games, but I found the correlation interesting and could see how people could get used to it.
