https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Green.
Sugarsnaps are nice though. The concept of just picking an entire pod off a plant and eating the entire thing in one go is very nostalgic of my grandma.
Garden, then. You can eat the pods if they're fresh enough, as long as you haven't used any sort of insecticides on them.

People who like mushy peas are the same people who don't separate kit-kats. Monsters the lot of ya.
Mushy peas are made the same way as ham and pea soup, but without the ham. Or the soup. If you don't like pea soup, you are a southerner who should be garotted and tossed in a bog.

Jesus christ, it took out all that? Something dodgy was going on in that shop. Even if it's as stupid as illegally siphoning gas, something was going on.
I could believe it's some kind of cladding ir insulation going up, because God knows that's everywhere, but idk- a vape shop explodes? It's just...
Days after the protests as well... sorry to spread Online Misinformation kiwibros... maybe we should wait for the Officials to weigh in

It takes quite a bit to make those building go up like that. I used to live in a similar aged one and there was a fire in one of the flats on the stair. The flat was gutted but the building was completely intact. Whatever has fuelled it must be seriously flammable. Vape batteries for example, and acetone for nails.
What a shame. When that building in the grassmarket went up in flames a while back I was surprised at how fierce the fire was. This will be a massive blow for Scotland and transport - they will need to reroute what they can through queen street but anything west of Glasgow is going to struggle, and o don’t know how they will manage the west coast line - go up the Annan / Dumfries line and have buses from pollockshields? It’s a bit small, maybe even from kilmarnock.
I'm pretty sure the last stop before Glasgow is Lockerbie
There’s a few after that, the fast trains don’t stop at them usually, but there are lots of little local stations. They are going to have to bridge the gap with buses.

Do you mind that on that collapsed? A bar or something? Didn't a Polis helicopter go into it, or am I misremembering that?

Lots of old buildings in Glasgow and they're solid built. I lived in a tenament in the West end and it was great. Felt like a sturdy building, warm in winter and cool in summer.

The city centre itself is beautiful if you lookup at the buildings. I remember when the art college burned and that was awful.

Despite Koffi plugging the "I'm more working class than you" virtue signalling the way only someone with Middle Class parents can, I have no shame in saying that the best regular chocolate is M&S's Swiss stuff in the purple and white packaging. Very nice, no palm oil. Bit pricey but then everything is these days.

On that note, I see petrol near me up by nearly 5p since Israel dragged the USA into the latest Middle East quagmire.

About 8p up when I stopped on the way out this morning.
Just measure it in top gear amounts. The value you can see when they stop to fill up on old episodes.
We’re currently around the Citroen 3 story camper van levels. Which is roughly early 2010s.

Even that is going to struggle because of the way crews run. A lot of the Scottish crews run the train down to London and back. They are going to have serious problems with getting the crews to the border to run the trains either direction with this. Can't tell you how many times I've had trains delayed or canceled due to crews being stuck on another delayed train so no one can run them.

And before any one says "They can stay at the hotels by the train stations" as a solution. They have all been handed over to migrants. Almost any train station hotels you pass is a migrant hotel. They're easy to ship in there, dirt cheap and it gives them the freedom to disappear. All the things the government like. Since you mentioned it Otterly I looked up Dumfries and they recently had a protest outside one of their hotels, one of the migrants living there had a phone discovered with CP on it and set the locals off. The only articles I can find are hard left websites and pay walled so no point linking it. There is some youtube footage of it.

Police Scotland are refusing to release data on immigrant crimes and crimes linked to people living in migrant hotels.

I've only ever been to M and S for lunch once in my entire life.. I dream of saving enough scrap and marbles to afford beans on toast there again before I retire.. How many empty bottles is it in a bean these days? I have 700 stock piled in the garage and I think I'm about 4 years off from working on the toast costs.

Hhmmm. I’ll have to try that. Although the ruination of Cadbury has been good for me kicking my chocolate habit, so maybe finding a good substitute is the last thing I need. Or maybe I should allow myself some.

Offtopic, but I read recently a blogpost on 18th century British laws.

These laws are extremely brutal.
"Taking away from his own or another Man's Ground Swan's Eggs of another Man's, upon Conviction by Examination of Witnesses, is Imprisonment for a Year and a Day, and Forfeiture of ten Pounds [$2000 USD]."
"To steal Swans [...] is Felony"
"[...] if any Person prophanely swear or curse in the Hearing of any Justice, Mayor, etc. or shall be convicted of such Swearing, etc by the Oath of two Witnesses [...] the Offender being above Twelve Years old, was to be set in the Stocks Three Hours; if under that Age [...] he was to be whipt by the Constable"
Transporting Sheep beyond Sea [...] First Offence Forfeiture of Goods, to be divided between the Queen and the Prosecutor. To be imprisoned for a Year, and to have his Hand cut off in some open Market.
Second Offence, Felony"
compared to this:
"If any Person shall throw, cast, or fire, or be aiding, and assisting in throwing, casting, or firing Squibs, etc. into any publick Street [...] he shall forfeit [one pound]"

But this law is very much needed nowadays. Collusion is rampant nowadays.
"Butchers, Brewers, Bakers, Poulterers, Cooks [...] who conspire, or promise together, that they will not sell their [wares] but at certain Prices [...] First Offence, ten pounds to the King and if not paid in six Days after Conviction, 20 Days Imprisonment, with Bread and Water [...] Third Offence, forty Pounds, and if not paid in six Days [...] Loss of an Ear"

This law is alright:
"A Person Convict of Drunkenness forfeits five shillings to the Poor. And one keeping an Alehouse without License one pound."

I keep forgetting Motherwell is literally just outside Glasgow because it's usually not listed as a stop plus I'm usually engulfed in the movie I'm watching until I get to the end of the line.

Apparently after all the fuss last night the station itself is actually untouched (?????) which is completely fucking bizarre. Even the BBC originally said that the station itself was engulfed in flames before changing it to Central Station Building (which includes the entire outskirts bit with all the shops). A large section of the market bit is completely fucked mind and it wouldn't surprise me if the station is shut for a few weeks until they're 100% sure the glass isn't going to fall and kill someone.

It's the way Law Enforcement in the UK is going, with Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC, etc., all recruiting Graduates rather than the actual people they should be recruiting (i.e. people suited to the jobs).

Most of the new intake at each of the above are scared of their own shadow. Useless.
Armed Forces are like that too now. God help us in the coming war in Iran.
So in your opinion, what is the most brainless slop on the telly?
Got a decent list.
Anything similar to Line of Duty. LoD was good before they went on crack and now the entire corruption in the polis was motivated by racism and not money. Vigil is also god awful, genuinely hard to watch. Triggerpoint I assume is similarly terrible for the same reasons.

Any drama that tries to come accross as deep and dramatic while just being dogshit.

Grantchester/Endeavor/George Gently, All use nostalgia as a hook and constantly feel the need to explain how evil and backwards their time periods are.

Chained together looks shite as well. Hello I am relatable working class man I represent you, look at how backwards this old nobleman is. Please laugh at him for he is bad my fellow commoners.
Who does the best tea bags these days?
Scottish Blend or normal Yorkshire Tea. I'm 90% sure they're the same anyway. PG Tips is god awful though.
Another glowie to add to the block list.
Am I on the block list? also Invading Iran with the US is totally a cool thing we should do. Write to your MP and tell them.

Anything from like the 70s/80s
The Goodies is a good one, so is Allo Allo and you can't go wrong with Gerry Anderson. If you're after something more American than the A Team McGvyer, Knightrider ect are a good shout.
Honestly I wonder what is going to happen if Glasgow Central has to shut down, it's a massive central hub for getting across Scotland AND all across the UK.
They might try and reroute through Queen Street but I doubt it has the capacity. All the eastern lines run into Queen Street, so that's Inverness, Aberdeen and even Edinburgh.
