https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Look I’m fine with the widespread genocide of millions, repatriation, and revolution, then you say something ridiculous like this. Be reasonable.
Next up will be complaints ‘why does my wife look like late stage Kate bush dragged through a hedge backwards? Why are women so slovenly!?’
I am being reasonable! Women look nice with wavy hair! I've had long hair as a teenager and I never needed to use a blow drier. I used a towel and let it dry naturally after.

If my wife looked like Kate Bush I'd have her trimmed. I never said we should ban electric razors now did I? I am beyond reasonable. Even generous. I didn't even tell you to shut up and stop being racist like SOME MEN would. I've entertained a brief conversation with you and haven't even stopped to mansplain anything. I've even offered you a solution to your problem, but this will probably upset you because you don't want a solution, you just want to discuss the fashion trends of Kate Bush and remember when you couldn't tie your knockers in a bow..

With modern Britains bureaucracy I wouldn't trust nuclear power. If the reactor started to have problems we'd start an inquiry about it. Then do an inquiry on the inquiry. Then 20 years later have a docudrama about the reactor failure and why the inquiries failed. Which leads to another inquiry and some compensation for Allan Titmarsh and his 3 eyed fish.

I’m sure I’ve heard you can’t do this because the vibration damages the structure. Might be wrong.
They’re not available to the working class. Literally, there’s regulations saying they have to be so far away from neighbouring property that it’s impossible for anyone without a driveway that fits 7 cars to have one.

It is not a case of one person being better than the other and therefore winning.
This is somewhat true, while experience and training aren't the factors they used to be, they still play a large role on the offensive. There's a reason most of the conscripts the Russia have are being used in a defensive role. They're effectively digging in and holding their positions against the Ukrainians.
Most of the offensive action is being carried out by two types of infantry, so called disposables and assault formations.

Disposables are the heavily memed on cannon fodder recruited from prisons, NK and ethnic groups within Russia. They are mainly just used for recce instead of actually carrying out an offensive. Send some of them towards Ukrainian lines and see how they die. It's kinda fucked but it is effective in revealing information on Ukrainian positions ect. As they're all convicts ect the Russians can do this with little worry of mutinies ect, if they did this with conscripts then there would be problems.

Assault formations are actually pretty switched on and motivated in comparison. They tend to be pretty experienced and equipped and are usually units like the VDV. They're the main centre of gravity for Russian offensives. They're the ones who'll actually do the line breaching and assaults of an large scale offensive action. Their experience, equipment and training is what makes them work well in this role. They're more willing to engage in offensive action and more capable then conscripts, meaning they are more likely to achieve their objectives.

So you're not totally wrong but experience does make a big difference still in Ukraine.
The main impact it's had is now even a small group of people can clear a relatively large urban area. The typical ratios and doctrines for defence are completely outdated. You no longer need a numerical advantage, you can clear 1:1 or less. If we're invading somewhere then great. If we're not?
It's still laughable how manpower and time intensive clearing an urban area is. 1:1 does work when actually clearing the building itself. But this doesn't take into account the rest of the platoon who has to provide over watch and force protection while they assaulting section actually clears the building. The last thing you need is the enemy to leg it out the back door as you're wasting time and grenades on an empty building or the enemy to counter attack and start assaulting you while you're still clearing the building. Then there's the fact that if you don't clear every inch of a building, cupboards and all, then one conscript could just grenade your entire section in return.
Looking at military expos is bleak. I do not know whether it speaks to a lack of critical/innovative thinking, or simply just an extreme level of confidence.
Military expos have never really been a space for innovation, just newer and shinier versions of things that already exist.
Is Ukraine different to nato because they are somehow worse at fighting
Sort of, Ukraine is largely a ill motivated conscript army outside of a few specialist units (kinda like we established with the Russians). NATO is widely a professional fighting force with better training and motivation. Private Conscriptovich is unlikely to maintain the same standards as a professional soldier. An example of this would be the fucking retards calling home on a civvy phone or posting pictures on twitter and as a result getting their entire platoon wiped out.
Either way with the number of top attack things be them drones or javelins or whatever, the current ideas on what parts of a tank need to be armoured is rather outdated
I find it quite funny that the rise in drones is happening at the same time APS is becoming more widely used. I'd imagine that instead of heavily armouring the top plate to fuck that hardkill systems and EW would the way forwards.
I don't think that bombers and air superiority would change much when it comes to armour and infantry
the way intelligence is obtained
These two kind of go hand in hand together and with the previously mentioned Private Conscriptovich. On the tactical level Air superiority wouldn't change that much. On the Strategic level it would be massive.

Everyones losing their shit these days over the idea of "Deep Strike". That is instead of just being able to hit the enemy in the Close, we can hit them in their rear area as well. This means that instead of just firing artillery at frontline positions we can start to target things such as supply dumps, command posts, specialist equipment and for example field workshops.

Running with field workshops for a minute, do you know how much maintenance a tank needs? It's a shit ton. They're big, tempramental maintance holes. This is where the field workshop comes in to strip down than tank, take out it's engine ect, and perform maintenance so it doesn't break down in a battle. Back in ye olden days this workshop would be far enough from the Close that it would be hard to target and destroy.

However thanks to modern advances in ISR we can locate this workshop and target it for a strike. This could be through Satilite imagery, Aerial recconaisance, Signals Inteligence or the afore mentioned Private Conscriptovich and his shit OPSEC. Seriously if you're told an OP is PEDRED please fucking listen for the love of christ. The end result however is a strike on that field workshop resulting in the destruction of a troop of tanks and another squadron breaking down half way into a battle. And that not even taking into acount that ability to track troop movements to and from that workshop and target those movement independently.

Air superiority would be a massive game changer and that's the effect it would have on tanks and infantry.
As well as changing our training and doctrine to match.
We've slowly been changeing training ect to match whats happening in Ukraine. There's a lot more emphasis on trench and urban warfare. Senior brecon has added trenches into it and there a lot of money being invested in urban training areas and instructors.

There are many types of windturbine that aren't the classic propeller shape and fitting them on the foot of a house, or worst case a vertical shaft in the garden wouldn't be an issue.

Trickle charging batteries or just using the generated power as low voltage, low current circuit to charge electronics, multiplied by every home in the country, would be just as viable. Potentially you could charge the battery pack of an electric bike and have 'free' energy without taking anything from the grid.

so we end up with our planes flying circles and risking getting shot at for no real purpose.
They're not in range of being shot down.
They want to play tough and run with the big boys, but they also want to pretend they're not actually doing any of that
They're not. At best, we are providing laser-designation, target acquisition or bystander-recording for Internal Law's sake.
That's as far as our involvement should go.

Despite many armchair nonces celebrating the death of a fella whose name they hadn't heard last week, this isn't going to end well for the yanks. 60 years of desert skirmishes and they still haven't learned that they will join forces to oust the invaders, before they settle internal problems.

If the pattern stays the same as it always has, it won't be long until the Taliban are called up.

True ecochads know nuclear power is the only way.
It's the only way to fix ocean pollution too ;) nuclear could instantly stop a massive amount of plastic pollution in the ocean and clean up the cities with the highest air pollution in the world.
NATO is widely a professional fighting force with better training and motivation. Private Conscriptovich is unlikely to maintain the same standards as a professional soldier.
This is the only thing I disagree with. Other than that we're mostly just talking past each other. I agree that most of the people in this war are just untrained unmotivated forced conscripts. But Ukraine has a military, they had their own version of nato's 'professional fighting force'. It was smaller and less advanced yes but they still had a professional army. There is nothing to say that in a hypothetical nato war, let's just say the middle east and china invade Europe alongside Russia. Do you think that the only military we would use will be composed of exclusively our professional fighting forces? There is nothing to say that Europe won't have to do the same type of conscription in that hypothetical war, just that we have a larger buffer than Ukraine, but that does not mean the enemy would not also have a larger force that deletes that buffer faster than Russia can in Ukraine. Let me rephrase it to be clearer then. Is Ukraine's military worse than nato's? Are Ukraine's conscripts worse than nato's? Or is it just a difference in number? Obviously yes their military was worse but at this point their total military force including what has been destroyed is both more advanced and numerous than ours is. At the moment I would say the Ukranian military is better trained than ours too.
I find it quite funny that the rise in drones is happening at the same time APS is becoming more widely used. I'd imagine that instead of heavily armouring the top plate to fuck that hardkill systems and EW would the way forwards.
This is already a thing in Ukraine. They do not work. If you look at drone footage and the vehicle has random white/blue boxes on the top of it then that's some sort of jamming device especially if the end of the footage from ~100m away gets all grainy and choppy. They do disrupt the signal but it's not perfect and most of the time the drone will continue on the same path it was on when it lost the signal. Obviously less effective than being able to properly target spots but if the target is stationary and the drone is on course it will just continue to fly directly into it. Also.

There's your battlefield.
This is the aftermath of modern drone warfare. Not the remote control fpv drones from a couple years ago that you're thinking of. Those are fiber optic cables that mean the drone simply just has nothing to jam. It's not communicating with anything wirelessly that can be jammed. It is a hard wired connection to the pilot. Those are immune to the type of EW that is currently being used and were invented as a specific counter to those sorts of systems.

I've gotta say, it's really funny browsing social media and seeing friends who moved to Dubai going ballistic as if they didn't move to an Islamic shithole that's gold plated.

Oh no, you're directly in the epicentre of a major middle eastern war? And you had no idea that this was possible? I didn't know the UAE physically transported from Magaluf all the way there.

Terror threat level: substantial
Home Office is trying to bring a couple hundred thousand Brits home from the ME. I hope the Home Office isn't too busy arranging boat peoples accommodation and GP visits to get a few planes out
And how many are "refugees" or brown larpers?

Trump is retarded randomly blowing shit up in the middle East right now. If Iran is sponsoring countless terror cells they all have the green light to go ahead and turn active now. He bitched about the state of Europe and how it was full of terrorists and bad people sneaking in. And then proceeds to piss them all off. They won't see "I'm in France, French people aren't American". They see White = Christian = Enemy.

If there isn't a major terrorist event in the next month I would be shocked. Even if it's not one big event it will be lots of smaller events all across Europe.

Terror threat level: substantial
It has not moved from the second highest level since it was implimented. It's a bunch of complete nonsense because the UK Intel services are terrified of dropping it down and an attack catching them with their pants down.

Personally I think this is why the UK populace have had enough, living under basically a cold war for 20 years while also being told that "The UK is safer than it has ever been" is such a polorizing contradiction. Eventually you have to ask "If the Tories and Labour haven't made the UK safer, then who will?"

Hordes of turkey-toothed refugees dragging everything they could carry in knock-off Louis Vuitton bags, distraught at the loss of the lives they have built on the back of slave labour in a hostile Islamic environment. Like fleeing French aristocrats weeping over the end of the grey crushed velvet ancien regime.

Spivs and wronguns, the lot of them.

Maybe that was the plan all along? The MICoid boots on the ground in europe can 'help with the terrorism' while also 'stopping russian advancements'.
Or maybe trump is a retard.

Dubai is a shithole and anyone who moves there deserves to perish. Same for New York or Tokyo. You are mentally deranged if you choose to live there. It's like the people who look at the rape rates in india and go nah it won't happen to me and then go there as a single female traveller.

America can blow up shit in the middle east and it wont really be there problem so even if they have the slightest suspicion that Iran is aiding terrorists and keeps threatening to block trade routes then America is going to do what America always does. The blow back from stuff like this always falls on the Europeans, why do you think Starmer was so quick to come out and say we weren't helping the US (even though we really were). If these cells are going to start doing stuff then it will be here and not over there and the Americans know that.

America didn't give a shit about what happens to Europe after the fact during the Gulf war, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc and they are not going to now. Take Trump talking about the state of Europe as a wake up call, stop importing our enemies and letting them hold us to ransom.
