A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Lowe on Iran.
Not the most fortunate name for your power station,
The article also highlights that the nuclear power station coming on in the early 2030s will generate more immediate power than the geothermal plant. In total the power generated if you can harness it but it's the same logic Elon Musk applied to solar power where, yeah, the sun could generate more power than nuclear, but there's no point in discussing it seriously if you have 0 capability of actually harnessing all of it. Whoever is in power in the 2030s can take credit for decreasing energy costs potentially depending on the effectiveness of the plant.

My main reason for sharing the article is because I thought it was neat, I'm not an environmentalist but there's a handful of green-related topics I actually do like hearing about:
1) Massive ecological repair. (China just finished putting a huge forest around the Gobi desert and has actually cleaned up the Yangtze river. Soil quality improvements are happening in Kenya. Things like that.)
2) Anything major relating to nuclear power. Tech advancements, new power stations, etc. Fingers crossed for fusion.
3) "Almost extinct" animal upgrading to "Vulnerable" or "Safe". (Southwestern Black Rhino, Greater one-horned rhino, Iberian Lynx, etc.)
4) Green tech stuff. (I consider solar a waste of time in the UK and wind power a short-term response a long-term issue, but geothermal plants and dams are nifty.)

Good ol' British boy vandalises Churchill's statue

A man has been charged with criminal damage after graffiti was sprayed on the statue of Sir Winston Churchill in Parliament Square, police have said.
Caspar San Giorgio, 38, of no fixed address, was arrested shortly after 04:00 GMT on Friday. He was taken into custody and charged just before 04:00 on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Police said he had been remanded into custody and was due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court later.
In the early hours of Friday, graffiti including "Never again is Now", "Free Palestine" and "Globalise the Intifada" appeared on the statue of the former prime minister in central London.

Why are these arseholes always of "no fixed address" ? I'm assuming because they are such off the plantation mad, despicable individuals, that they are unemployable, have no friends and no family will suffer them, so have no means to a permanent home.

This would be easily solved on my watch....you want to free Palestine ? Fine. Put on plane and thrown out over their air space. Parachute optional. No right of return allowed. One way ticket.

I'm so sick of all these prats that care about all this shit thousands of miles away. I hope they wipe each other off the face of the earth. It will be better for us then too.

Good to see some infrastructure (and jobs) being built in Cornwall regardless of how many homes it can power. Hopefully this can encourage more geothermal plants and dams/nuclear like you mentioned... if only we had a party for that...

UK did not participate in US-Israeli strikes on Iran, Keir is convening COBRA now. Farage and Badenoch have come out in support of razing Iran.

Someone has leaked that Labour politicians are sharing this meme amongst themselves in regard to the GD election.

Not enough is said about true, green ideas, innovations and inventions.

Lowe on Iran.
Interesting that I can recognise where at least part of the structure of the thinking behind this one came from. Lowe has had a lot of behind-the-scenes (and sadly not fully acknowledged) policy development work from Peter North, son of Richard North, who was quit influential in the eurosceptic movement from the early 90s forwards (also a UKIP member who was one of Farage's first casualties). Richard and Peter have both been banging on about the state of the military for much of the last 20 years, charting its decline and regularly pointing out just how utterly retarded MoD procurement can be, especially when it comes to actually keeping squaddies alive. If North is still involved with Lowe then I am certain we'll see policies rounded out and developed in greater detail over time.

There's a sub-culture of homeless antifa agitators who constantly couch-surf between protests. They think it will make them harder to track down.

Spoke at length with the missus about this Green swing, urdu ad, family voting shit today. She's very Palestine sympathetic, will probably vote Green, and is generally an extremely empathetic person to her own detriment. Found her reactions and opinions to it very interesting (particularly that all she'd heard was that this was a massive win for the Greens, and that alleged Labour van).

The all urdu anti-Modi ad gave her some serious cognitive dissonance when I showed it to her (alongside the obvious gerrymandering to convert the ward from an almost all white bloc to a significantly muslim bloc in 2023).

Based on this I'm cautiously optimistic that the utterly shameless, obviously divisive courting of Muslim voters (while encouraging infighting with the jeets, no less) is going to be a blackpill for at least some of the more open minded libs. I explained this as being barely different to Reform fanning anti-immigrant sentiment for votes. Also a blatant indictment of the multicultural melting pot, your particular diaspora is only catered to if it comprises a considerable and predictable voting movement.

Only thing I couldn't quite get her head around is why family voting would be of particular concern to muslims; I imagine many people just can't wrap their head around the idea that Muslims legitimately just blindly follow whatever their Imam says, and vote on behalf of their illiterate wives.

I think a good way to conceptualise the subtle political acknowledgement of an islamic monolith to people is to point out nobody ever means white people when they talk about "community tensions" nor are there white "community leaders". This verbiage really only ever refers to Muslims.

Just thought it was interesting.
If you're interested to raise it with her, you could discuss the plight of many young women from Pakistani backgrounds. Knew more than a few who got locked in their rooms by their fathers, phones denied or closely monitored, watched for who they walked down the street with or beaten for talking to a boy. If your wife is hesitant to criticise a culture, perhaps can be worth considering that many victims of that culture are their own.

There was a case in my living memory in which a boy from one villain in Pakistan raped a girl from another village and the elders decided that justice would be to allow the brother of the victim to rape the sister of the perpetrator.

She's very Palestine sympathetic,
Following on from the previous post, I had a colleague a few years back who got taken back to Pakistan and married off to a cousin (maybe) This is a middle class girl with a degree (not that it matters, but just to say this is happening across social strata) He beat her senseless, and she lost two babies around birth in really traumatic ways due to what I assume was genetic issues (he’s at least her cousin, possibly a half sibling) but maybe also because he didn’t seem to stop knocking her around even when pregnant.
She used to be very funny, last time I saw her she was about 300lb and looked like she was already dead.

Millions must go.

Millions must go.
It’s just so depressing. If she’d been white everyone would have been telling her to leave him, and because she was a Pakistani it’s all ‘Mustn’t be insensitive’. From people who lecture you on racism.
It’s just a relentless tide of human misery.

Not really trying to undertake some redpill exercise.

She's well aware of the regressive culture of Pakis in the UK (we watched that inbreeding doc some years ago and her take away was "I had noticed there were a lot of Muslims with learning difficulties") but she just works with too many fairly normal seeming middle-class Bangladeshi and Pakistani women to really get it and generally thinks it's just a few bad eggs. We live in an area fairly well populated by Pakis and Indians so it's not as if she's unaware of how women are treated.

We mainly just talk general politics but the Gorton-and-Denton by-election had so many interesting things happening that it naturally had to come up.

PSA - Ramadan ends 20th March, or the nearest full moon to that date depending on your flavour of Islam, and it's generally when the blowie-uppies go bang.
One can only assume that this attack on iran has been timed so that when ramadan ends, the pissed-off iranian muslims overthrow the iranian government.

IF we get involved in a major way, be wary of events around the back end of March.
