A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

8chan's always had a better brit/pol/ anyways, 4chan's /pol/ has been awful for a long, long time.
Last time I checked all the Brit things on 4chan were social clubs for people on benefits. Talking about going to the shop to buy fags or some ugly youtube girl.

Oh yes, but 8chan's brit/pol/ is just arguably the best of the lot.

It’s weird how he ramped up the Reform simping to 11 one day and couldn’t suss out how to turn it down. It was as insufferable as the people who think being a member of the Labour Party is a substitute for having a personality.

Hit me with the rainbow stickers, but I don’t see him as the fedposting type. He’s got a head canon about Our Nigel and he’s going to be extremely disappointed in the near future.

It’s a shame he lost his mind as I enjoyed some of his news threads prior to that.
He has some profile tagline like 'Britain for the British' or something like that too. I went through the stabby mc stabby thread and all traces of this person are gone. I'm really curious why now...when MiW arrived on the farms, it was very much in the style of someone who was here for a while.

Does everyone assume I deeply personally despise them and read all their posts or something
You don't?

God damn. I need to up my game.
I want Ribena with all the sugar in it : (
Oh the fucking sugar tax and its consequences. They're taxing milkshakes now. If my bi-monthly five guys malted peanut dextroseslop ends up with cunting stevia in it I'm going to shit myself (because it's a laxative).

My only fizzy drinks are coke, irn bru 1901, fever tree light tonic water, and cava. Everything else tastes like I'm sucking cud from a cow's teeth. I actually started drinking coffee. Coffee!

Shit or get off the pot. You're the main one winding him up and probably the person he said was threatening him. You need to back it up with evidence or it looks like you're just trying to troll him and the thread.

Go swallow a cock. If he acts like a LOLCow, he gets treated like a lolcow, and not once did I threaten him...which is retarded behaviour at best.
As for the rest, I'm pretty sure it was deleted thanks to the sheer amount of fedposting going on, with posts that were related to taking back britain and related to the demonstrations at the time.

Just order a 5kg bag of typhoo online.

This is a serious, no banter (please explain grits to acknowledge your understanding) no bullshit reply.
I didn't see a 5 pound bag of tea, so I just picked the pack of 80 bags of "typhoo gold" for my wife and I to try.

Grits are just oatmeal, but with ground up corn. They pair better with savory foods than oatmeal does. They are not my cup of tea as I'd rather have a slice of buttered toast to go with my steak and eggs for dinner.

I know labour are spastics and all but how is me doubling my bins making it simpler?

Please can someone make it make sense?

Every party in the UK has a friends of Israel advisor group who have money invested in them. The UK is not as bad as the US but it's still a constant background influence on everything.
We sent more money to India and the Pakis than Israel, so if giving a thumbs up to Israel in-turn signals alignment with the USA, and it doesn't cost a dime to do, then they're gonna do it.
The way I see it, being friendly to Israel is less about kowtowing to the Jews/Israel specifically, and more about signalling your alignment to the USA's foreign policy/interests. The UK foreign policy has been overtly to align with the USA completely, all in the name of maintaining the special relationship. Remember when the US implemented tariffs, and Keir came out and lauded it? Special relationship.

The USA's friends have to be our friends, and one of the USA's bestest friends is Israel. Parties signalling a friendliness to Israel is a way of letting the US know that the party will be cooperative with America on the issue. There's a balance between angry population and maintaining cordial airs with Israel that has to be balanced, but no NATO country can be a dick to Israel overtly because then it'd be in open hostility to America, essentially.

I do want to say because Americans might get the wrong impression:
Criticising the USA's alignment with Israel and it's subsequent influence on how allied states conduct foreign policy =/= critiquing/hating on American people themselves.
In Israeli dual citizen deciding his country needed good PR, creating AIPAC, then the Yon Kippur war spurring on donations allowing for the subsequent lobbying of senators and congressman to pressure President Ford into maintaining Israel's importance is not the fault of the general American population.
Referencing a country, I'm speaking of them in terms of abstraction.
"America" =/= USA and its people as a whole.
It's more "America" = government/deep state/worst politicians/NGOs/lobbyist groups, etc.
He works for Reform.
I'm generally inclined to not write anyone off as a paid-for-shill. It's an easy answer for a more complex, more human thing.

Way I see it, he got on board in early to mid 2025, basically when Reform were peak alternative. When they got worse and worse, he had invested so much hope in them that he couldn't imagine doing the same for another party. Considering he's Welsh, and from my knowledge their nationalist party Plaid Cymru are similar to the SNP (nationalist in name only), Reform are, by unfortunate circumstance, the most nationalist option for him that also has relevance in Wales.

I shilled for Reform a few times, giving a reason to maintain a degree of hope, but I did ween off at some point when I said all I felt needed saying. I still consider Reform the 2nd best option, though it's a distant 2nd. It's mostly down to a potential situation that may get worse for them as time goes on.

My main hope with Reform is that the potential MPs they have standing in future elections would overshadow what Farage and his cabinet want, thus improving the party. We already know Pochin and Anderson were shafted from the shadow cabinet because they were too based (they went against the party line and said the burkha needed to be banned, the subsequent row leading to Yusif's demotion) and since Reform are shit at vetting, I'm hoping all the potential Reform candidates are similarly based.
TLDR: The main hope for Reform is they get subverted and Farage basically gets couped by MPs more based than he is.

Otherwise the novelty of seeing the Conservative party finally die would be neat, even if it's basically just a name change.

You’re awfully smug about the fact that your immigration policy is so backwards, the jeets you import are too poor to afford their giant monkey statues :smug:
I honestly think the only reason we don't have one of those big statues is because it wouldn't be granted planning permission. British bureaucracy saves the day (for once).
