A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

One final message from me, before my inevitable ban and account deletion.

Whilst, overall, I've enjoyed my time on here it now has to come to an end due to personal threats and directed abuse being sent my way over my continuing support for Nigel Farage and Reform UK.

The fact that I won't 'fall in line' and 'know my place' has angered many on here because they are entitled little morons who cannot stand being told the word that starts with N and ends very shortly after with O - NO.

In my life (I am 41 in July, yeah old as fuck go figure) I have spent the vast majority of it standing against the EU and in support of Wales and the UK - I am proud to be both Welsh and British and I love my country and what it has given to the world and still contributes. I have never voted for Labour, despite coming from a Pit Estate in South Wales, but I have strong Socialist beliefs which have cemented my life and understanding of it - respect, trust, honour, friendship, grafting hard. I voted Independent in 2005 and 2010 and thereafter I supported UKIP, Brexit and now Reform UK before becoming a member and working for the party.

Unlike some of the detractors and whiners here, I am actively fighting for a better country which future generations can enjoy, where their freedoms will be respected and where they will be safe and their value as a member of society will be appreciated - a time where the problems of today will be as alien as a world before the internet or the days before 24 hour TV.

Whether or not I am Llyr Powell, the point is that I spend a lot of time working with other Reform UK members and I am but a small cog in the machine - I have mentioned some of the better ideas sent to me to the 'top brass' and these are being discussed and policies to achieve them are being worked on. I accept the criticisms of Reform UK and Nigel Farage - he is certainly far from perfect but I maintain he is still the best choice until and unless there is a better alternative.

With that point in mind, the audacity of some on here to run crying to the admins in order to silence me (@Captain Autism, @Fedpostexpress to name but two) in addition to a co-ordinated attempt by others to silence any mention of support for Reform UK and to demand my removal from here because 'how dare I' upset these precious little poppets who IMO have behaved worse than any social justice warrior I've had the misfortune to meet in my life.

Quite frankly, if me mentioning Reform UK and Nigel has triggered you then it's you who has the problem.

I have done my best to be civil and I have always been honest (unlike a lot of people I could mention) in my defence of Reform UK. Yes, I am not happy with the Farage-Lowe situation, but I can do nothing about it and whether people like it or not (and most don't, but quite honestly fuck them with a horse cock dildo) I remain committed to the Reform UK cause. That doesn't mean that I hate Restore or Rupert Lowe - quite the opposite, I welcome the right for anybody to speak out and I do not believe in muzzling people though it seems to be the in thing on here. Rupert Lowe is a gentleman and no matter what I will respect him for what he's done.

I have also received DM's from people on here I have come to call friends who have also received nasty messages and comments for backing me - for Christ's sake, this place is not Reddit or Feabie and if you have been part of this then you urgently need to change your brain as you are hurting good people and also the website.

If Reform UK is 'that shit' then why is Nigel Farage willing to sit down with @Josh in order to discuss the ongoing case with OFCOM and to do whatever it takes to get this silly case dropped? Not to pat myself on the ass, but it was my message to him which enlightened Nigel as to the injustice Josh is facing here. I did something to make it happen, remind me oh detractors what you did today to make the world a better place - did you join Restore or whoever and put the yards in or did you just sit in your PJ's watching Netflix or playing Minecraft?

2026 has so far been an interesting year - Starmer is on the ropes and today we've received the news about Andrew finally facing justice. My hope is that in the next tranche of files we get something which takes this Government down - there's already talk of taking the Royals down, therefore you never know and the politics and interests of both are heavily interwoven. It's as if we're back at Heathrow Airport in Summer 1974.

There is a 'strange magic' (as ELO would have put it) happening at present, and things look good - true, Reform UK cannot take things for granted but overall the wind is in our sails,

To those who've shown friendship, all the best to you.

To those who showed their true colours (yellow, mainly) well I do hope one day you manage to successfully overcome your nappy and potty training and can actually stand for something without crying to the admins every five minutes or raging that I'm not doing as you command - you aren't my master, therefore I won't 'heel'.

Whether you vote Communist, Libertarian, Reform UK, Restore, BNP, National Front or one of the Uniparties that is your choice and it is not up to others to demand adherence.

Peace out and peace off.

I assume Prince Pedo was arrested for the same shit Mandy is being investigated for. They just said that charge to alter the perception of the markets and politics. Most likely, it is insider trading and state secrets.

Happy Birthday, Andrew. Remember to do a flip.

Lowe is in the awkward position of having policies that are not merely aspiration, but at the same time they're not actually detailed enough to really count where it matters.
I'm gonna be frank: I don't think most electorate care all much about details.
If how you acquired information was identical to the rest of the electorate, this would be a valid concern, but a lot of people are carried by osmosis and vague sentiment.

Or rather, the majority i.e. working class, don't.

Politics works like advertising: persistence and succinctness sticks in the head more than intelligent explanation.
Someone could hit Lowe's plan with a silver bullet that makes him look like a charlatan but the only thing that gets to the electorate is "Lowe wants to sort out the immigrants".

Lowe can win if 2 things reach the public:
1) Lowe and Restore Britain exist
2) Lowe will address the immigrant issue better than Farage.

There is a this third right now, whether they realise it or not, but Reform has a huge weakness that's easy to glance at and automatically put people off: he's got multiple browns in prominent positions. Intuitively, people will at least see that he's not going to go too hard on immigration based on this alone, as the people know that well enough that a foreigner can't solve the issue of foreigners. It's why Advanced UK was doomed from the start.

Trying to attack Jenrick/specific names won't work because most people have no clue who anybody is. I'd say it's a problem but politicians move on a conveyor belt and few ever remain relevant outside their time in office.
PL: cousin went to Tommy Robinson rally/event in London — he hadn't even heard of Badenoch or Tice or Rayner lmao

Quick to absorb images, and single punchy statements will do the job. Tommy Robinson and Farage's popularity comes down to the working class not mithering that much with reading diatribes of their faults, or single image macros which require context/prior understanding of certain terms to understand. Farage's most contentious shit is when the spotlight's off of him, or happened a while ago, so most of the electorate won't ever become aware. People only care about reacting to the here and now for the most part.

I'd say if Restore doesn't figure onto a poll next year then it would probably be safer to hold your nose and vote Reform. If Restore can make it on then I'd go all in.
I don't think Farage will make it to 2028 if Reform drops too low in the polls frankly.
It's not too late to delete this post and pretend you never made it.
I'd advise you to just ignore cunts. People found me insufferable but I persisted regardless.
People don't respond well to sanctimony, and there might be an air of hypocrisy given this might be perceived as an infantile response to similarly infantile behaviour.
You're one of the better posters and contribute shit, alongside being an optimist, which is otherwise sorely lacking in this thread.

Posted in the Iran thread but Trump backtracked on the Diego Garcia deal because Starmer isn't letting him use RAF bases to strike Iran. Starmer cites 'international law' as a concern.
Speaking today, Alex Davies-Jones, the victims minister, insisted the prime minister would “deliver” on the deal and bring the legislation back to parliament as soon as possible.
She told Times Radio: “We will continue to work with our allies, including the Americans, on this – but first and foremost, the priority must be national security, and that is what this government is determined to deliver.
“Just two weeks ago, they backed the deal, and this week the US backed the deal. Conversations will continue to be had with the Americans and other allies, but, as I’ve said, the priority is our base and national security.”
However, senior government officials privately said the deal could not go ahead without American approval. They described the situation as “bleak”.
This whole debacle is a huge embarrassment for Starmer, Jesus Christ. Why is he so determined to PAY Mauritius to take Chagos? I genuinely don't understand it from a political standpoint unless Starmer is just a fucking traitor.

Personal threats? I would be very careful with those sorts of accusations. It was accusations against the Farms like that that which were used as a justification for Cloudflare to start blocking us
I mean, as we're finding out, making accusations about personal threats when people start discussing mass deportation is just Reform's new MO.

It's not too late to just admit you've been duped and support Restore, MiW. Nobody here wants Farage and his Poundland Conversative party if we have an alternative, and neither should you.

Well that was dramatic.

Anyway

As much better as Lowe would be than anyone else who might get the job, there's no chance at all he'd do anything like that. If he even entertained the idea he'd lose half his support—his whole fraction of the establishment, plus all the people who've recently (and not really) shifted our way from liberalism/libertarianism (Sargon gang, etc).
I agree. I like Lowe and his policies and his goals a lot. However his economic plan is literally just thatcherism. Which only worked because of the assets the government was hoarding at the time. I think small businesses are getting absolutely raped to death by our government right now and that his plans to stop raping them to death is good. He also however seems to not really be all that bothered by the infestation of what are essentially monopolies in practice and effect if not literally monopolies. It's not enough to just stem the tide.

You were an acquired taste, but I've grown to like your posts so I'm glad you stuck it out.

However, whilst I have previously written posts with a similar sentiment to @Made In Wales explaining that it's the Farms and if you sperg, people will call you a sperg - just live with it - the fact he started throwing around serious accusations about personal threats is crossing a line. I don't believe that and the accusation is damaging as we have seen before, it's been used in service of censorship.

So pretty much as soon as I'd posted I reconsidered and just made a remark about flouncing. He wanted a big dramatic exit, he's had it. The Farms isn't the place to be a drama queen. It's the place to watch them.

They're not imagining that pain for themselves and the people they meet at parties and wish they were, the good men of status and enterprise. Pain is for you, losers. You want the Pakis out? You'll work for less than they do, and if you can't you'll get nothing.
Of course, none of the political class are to be trusted, none of them.
We have a Minister for Victims, now?
The workload is there to justify it, so….

I can't believe FedPostalService and CaptainAutism69 brutally attacked MadeInWales as he was innocently getting his Greggs at 3am, then ran off shouting "THIS IS RESTORE COUNTRY, BITCH!". Can't we all get along lads?

And lasses!
SIR, CLEM DID A MISOGYNY!
I think we’ve all been on the receiving end of some choice words now and again but that’s not really threats is it? Plenty of room for all opinions, and no need for flouncing

Back of the naughty step as gays keep banning me because they are gay.
What'd you allegedly hypothetically in theory do this time?
Whatever it was, you need to mind your manners, you Black Bastard.
Peace out and peace off.

Boomer moment, don't forget: you're here forever Llyr!
the fact he started throwing around serious accusations about personal threats is crossing a line.
Most likely he said something silly, got jannied, and is taking it waaaay too personally.
Or maybe his godawful opsec finally caught up to him and caught him some attention from the nutters (I get a fair few myself, I find it funny however), sad to see either way.
