A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Only reason I'm against the death penalty is would you REALLY trust Whitehall and the courts with the authority to (openly) kill Brits?
Not really, and I guess I bang this drum quite a lot in this thread. But looking at it another way, pretty much every society before literally this one right now has historically had a death sentence. You know I mentioned the execution method of strapping guys to canons and blowing them to bits. The British were still doing that in the 1930s - less than a hundred years ago.

Has abolishing the death penalty really improved things? I would say no. Nowadays, there's almost no jeapordy to being a criminal. We're still in the early days of this knowledge being commonly known, since we're still coasting on the momentum of us being, in the recent past, a high trust society. But things are starting to go to shit, and I think they will increasingly and rapidly go more to shit as the realisation permeates that you can basically do what you want and the police aren't going to show up and punish you. The pendulum needs to swing back sharpish imo.

I'm theory I'm pro death penalty however in practice I do not trust any modern government with that power. Same for the "assisted dying" (NHS cost-cutting) bill. To be honest I don't feel comfortable at all with modern governments having any power to use violence, I don't think there's been a single UK government that's truly had my or anyone I care about interests in mind my entire life, and I don't expect that to change any time soon.

No.

But at the same time I don't just want the death penalty to be tacked on to our current already broken legal system to try and fix some of it's problems. Ideally the entire legal and government system would be redone to be not fucking retarded and the death penalty would be included in that refor rejigging. It should be designed with the death penalty in mind, not just trying to shove several different ideas of justice into one dysfunctional lump. Do I trust the government to execute people? Do you trust the government to imprison them for decades?

Kiwi farms is not the place to try and make friends. Give it up.

I don't understand people who want to move to random Asian countries and have no roots there. If you're a white man jumping between Asian countries you're either a loser no one wants or a pedophile. If you tell me you've moved between multiple Asian countries I assume you're jumping around to fuck kids in them, not that you're some worldly traveler exiled from your home.
There's still European countries with a good cost of living, and not ruined by the browns yet (not for long, India just signed a deal with the EU)

I believe that we need to pass some powers of sentencing down to the Juries/our peers (to say nothing of that judge letting the paedo off). Juries should be the one to decide if people should swing for rape or murder, or fly tipping. I don't trust any state with the power of who lives and who dies, but giving the power of execution to the people sits better with me. A life sentence makes no sense, prison should be for people who can do pennance and be reformed, and every other animal needs to be put down like a stray with distemper. It also gives me the opportunity to finally say HANG THAT NIGGER NOW. I EVEN GOT MY OWN ROPE RIGHT HERE in court

Yea but that means wasting your life in jury duty. Idk I'd rather just say I'm schizophrenic and I will judge based on what I divine in my sleep and then just go about my life instead.

Oh, now we're fucking talking!
unironically i would hang people for fly tipping. there's no excuse for it, and it just shows you are the lowest of lowest scum, amoeba in a pond are higher up the evolutionary chain. its dirty, disgusting, and shows you have no fucking capacity to think or care. i'm like jersh in that i agree we shouldn't call people paedos (or fly-tippers) unless we would be comfortable being the ones pulling the trigger, i would be first to sign up for his majestys execution service to kill the fuckers who dump rubbish in the canals. i would personally hang them on their street of residence or outside the town hall with big signs, in multiple languages if you catch my drift.

I am in favour of the Death Penalty and also a vote to bring it back.

However, please bear in mind the following:

1) Jurors can be swayed/bullied/threatened - we have to ensure that a Juror is safe and can vote for the Death Penalty without any repercussions. In cases where it's The Crown v X and a guilty verdict would mean death, I would even allow Jurors separate rooms each to hear and see the evidence individually before they make up their mind.

If I was a Juror and had the power to put somebody to death (potentially) I need to know that once the case is done I can return to my normal life without a) being bothered by the media or protestors or b) that somebody won't put a price on my head as revenge.

2) Judges need to be independent and not biased one way or the other - they need to hand down sentences on facts and not impose a lighter sentence because their political beliefs align with that of the defendant etc. Also, Judges who refuse to hand down the Death Penalty should be removed permanently from the circuit - some serving ones may recuse themselves if they don't wish to be associated with handing down a Death Penalty (this would also avoid Judges going on strike).

3) Should we get the Death Penalty brought back, how do we prevent dodgy solicitors and protestors trying to stop the executions? My guess would be to repeal the 'liberal' laws before a vote in the HoC either goes for or against the reintroduction of the Death Penalty, but unless you have a party with a big majority who believe in it and will vote in line with the whip (three lines) then even reintroducing the concept of the Death Penalty in Parliament will be problematic.

Not trying to rain on the parade, just trying to point out that we need to get the plans in order first because any problems after will just result in the whiners going 'unfair, scrap it, waah, muh feels!'

You're alright, you.

And yeah, I agree completely. I don't say it lightly, but I'd be willing to pull the trigger, yank the lever, press the button, or even in some more playful methods initiate some sort of Mousetrap style ball bearing running down a ramp style of execution methods personally.

With fly tipping specifically, I think that really gets to the heart of the matter. As I think there is a part of you that is only really offended when you see a fridge chucked in a hedge when you have a deep personal connection to this land and it's beauty. This is something that browns lack and we all know it.

You're alright, you.
We shall have a summer wedding.

Death penalty + executions need to come with publicity of WHAT the offender did and why it so violates our moral and social order. I would consider adding elder/disabled adult abuse in extreme or repeat offender cases. SEAsians do it, just copy those autists if all else fails. Hell, China just shot a bunch of scammers (iirc?) within 4 days of arrest, maybe Keir should learn from them. They understand how to whip retard bugmen into a semi functioning society.

Reports have mentioned declining religious influence in parts of Iraq and Syria, particularly in areas formerly under the control of extremist groups where, ironically, the harsh imposition of religious rules has led to a backlash against religious authority.
Problem is that’s in their native countries. Like any other diaspora, when they’re in a foreign country they stick together in a group and their national or religious identity gets ever more extreme because of it. They don’t try to integrate, the knowledge that they’re different pushes them to be ever more rigid in their foreign identity. It’s why you get Muslim women wearing total covering from head to foot, when they would never have to do it if they lived in their own country (Afghanistan excepted).

It’s also why you get the lunatic suicide bombers and trucks of peace over here, and not in their own countries. There are undoubtedly western things they could target in Libya, Iraq etc, but the locals don’t bother. It’s the nutters over here who believe they have to prove how Muslim and different they are to westerners who go in stabbing sprees.

That and the duper’s delight in being allowed to get away with acting like complete pricks under the guise of religion, and having western bureaucracy politely applaud them in the name of tolerance. Idiots.

I would recommend going along to whatever the biggest football team is in your local area that isn't in any of the major leagues. Always going to be local players at that level and you can make some good mates if you hang out in the local pub/club house after. They've always been very welcoming to newcomers outside of the more trouser-twitchy ones and you get to see a bit more 'old school' football instead the autistic premier league stuff we get now. Once Brighton have Solly + Dunk retire, I don't think we will have any native Sussex players left.
My team have two players born and bred in the city, one of whom is a first team regular. It hasn’t happened in a while and I hope it won’t be the last time. It shouldn’t be the case that foreign-born kids can reach their dreams playing here but British kids can’t.

Local football is fantastic though, you’re right. I’ve been following one of the local non-league sides for a while and they’re doing not too badly. It’s football for the joy of the game, rather than for the money and fame. Feels way more real and genuine.

I wouldn’t trust the DWP, NHS or the legal system as far as I could chuck them. You only have to look at how assisted dying has become so enormous so fast in Canada to realise how it would be misused here. Diagnosed with a long-term illness? Wouldn’t you like to ensure you’re not a burden on the NHS your family? Need to claim benefit due to said long-term illness? Assisted dying is far cheaper. Have war and peace sized forms to fill in and endless interviews and reviews to check your eligibility…or, you could sign this one form and not have to worry again. Accused of ‘hate speech’ because you made an AI photo of Kier Starmer in a pink bikini? Bloody terrorist, prison is too expensive for the likes of you.

They can’t even prosecute basic crime cases, they have no fucking hope of getting it correct with a death penalty hanging over someone. Besides, you barely get any prison time for child sexual abuse now, and no fucker gets prosecuted for rape any more. The lefty fashion is to make the groomed kids into ‘youth sex workers’ with choice and agency, and the government can make a killing from taxing brothels. Why would they bother pulling up serial child abusers when they could profit from it instead?

It’s fucking wrong, but this government and every government in the last 20+ years has governed only on ‘what is cheapest’. When cheapest is killing off those who cost the state too much, you really need to not give them the chance. Because you know anyone who isn’t white will be given an instant pass to freedom. They’re discriminated against and we just don’t recognise our privilege. Certainly not if the majority of the MPs, doctors, judges etc are immigrants or sons thereof.

The death penalty is wrong on a lot of levels.
Exile to an inhospitable environment on the other hand is fine.
If you can't live by the laws of man, then you are condemned to live in the realm of the animals.
Enjoy the tropical jungles of the Amazon, frozen tundra's of Siberia or the deserts of Australia.
We should just send them to the moon.

From 'send them to Rwanda' to 'send them to Russia'.

Always knew Russia was next to Rwanda (alphabetically) in the countries of the world for a reason.

I approve, Vlad will have to be won over though.
