A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Christ. I want a pie now. A real one. Think I'll make some pastry tomorrow.

Posh tosser Giles Coren crying about the USA will never not be funny.
Gyles Brandreth is by far the superior Gyles.
This is why he needs to join reform.
Fatally wounded by Nigel, who then lets Sargon take the blame when it finally succumbs to its injuries two years after he's fucked off.

Doubt it The UK Government signed a defensive pact with Ukraine so getting oil from Russia is probably out of the question.
We still buy oil from the Russians. We just do it with a middle man now. It makes the middle man some profit and both sides get to keep pretending they hate each other in public.

He's not brown enough and from the Tory party. They won't take him. He might be a mutt but he's not the right shade ofpoo.

That means I have to click through to a Rag that makes The Sun look like a doctoral thesis.
Since his meltdown, and Farage importing even more browns, all the Welsh faggot has done is spam the forum with GB News crap. The front page of A&E is filled with that shit.
Look, mate, I appreciate Welshy's news posts. It gives the thread better things to talk about than Lisa Tarbucks' tits.
So, unless you're prepared to pick your preferred news outlet, or outlets, and do news roundups in the thread two or three times a day, I suggest you stop whining about Welshy's political proclivities and shut the fuck up.

BRICS is a retard pact of people who wish they could be in NATO but are too retarded. They all hate each other; the Chinese hate the jeets. Well, look at their economies too, they are all shit. The Chinese literally make up their numbers.

As for the OSA, I sense a U-turn as Pornhub has chosen to block the site post February 2026. Why deal with the issue when you can just cut away from it. A lot more companies will see this as a method.

He is going to get fuck all from China, their economy is in the shit currently.
I have to use a vpn to view a forum on remote control cars (please be patient, I have autism) as everyone on it uses Imgur to host photos of their builds and Imgur has flat out blocked the UK rather than deal with the OSA bullshit.

I’m voting for anyone who scraps it.

What time is it in Wigan when there's a pie on the clock?

Summat to eight
Oh very good.
Giles coren is intermittently amusing, but like most of his ilk he’s just too insulated from reality and of a generation where the counterculture in the formative years was more left leaning. There’s almost nobody of that set who has been brave enough to have even a slight rethink

You can get the same from looking on the front page of the Reform rag - GB News. Bookmark it, and check daily...no difference. Now if he had anything of substance to add or say, I'd agree with you, but he's just doing this in word form (taken from the website named after the thing you crave).

I kind of like Giles Coren in spite of himself and to be fair to him, at least he went and looked that up and admitted to being wrong. Can't ever think of him though, without going and rereading his infamous sex scene from his novel Winkler.

And he came hard in her mouth and his dick jumped around and rattled on her teeth and he blacked out and she took his dick out of her mouth and lifted herself from his face and whipped the pillow away and he gasped and glugged at the air, and he came again so hard that his dick wrenched out of her hand and a shot of it hit him straight in the eye and stung like nothing he’d ever had in there, and he yelled with the pain, but the yell could have been anything, and as she grabbed at his dick, which was leaping around like a shower dropped in an empty bath, she scratched his back deeply with the nails of both hands and he shot three more times, in thick stripes on her chest. Like Zorro.

What the hell is wrong with the penis in this story?

Fellow BritFarmers, I had a dream last night that I bred pet bumble bees. Massive ones that were kept on leads. What does it all mean?
Been playing too much Minecraft recently?

Bees (and butterflies) are very important and everyone should do their part to help. You don't need to go all in on turning your garden into a bee paradise, but you should prefer plants and flowers that are actually native instead of going for whatever looks the prettiest. And, as much as people hate them, dandelions are an important early food source and a lot of the other common garden "weeds" are also quite beneficial. I've got at least four different bee species that visit my garden every year and plenty of butterflies, but everyone thinks that I'm mad for not genociding the dandelions...

Sparkhill is a fucking shithole. Like BEYOND shithole. Ive said before i have a rule where I judge if a place is truly shit if the local women don't walk around by themselves, but Sparkhill is on another level of shit because they don't even let their women out the house. You'll understand why Denmark breaks up their enclaves and ghettos after driving through. If this wannabe councillor isn't struck off for making terroristic threats against churches we are finished.
Tram stop Noticings, all the posters for the WMM metro and adverts have ambiguously coloured people figures or tans/browns if they depict people. The poster for the homeless shelter? White

There are no better things.

I agree on the GB News front. There are other news sources and it becomes less "posting the news" and "please Daddy Farage" levels of desperate propaganda. A variety of news sources would be better but it doesn't push the Reform narrative the way he wants.
How do you get convicted as a terrorist and still get to remain in the country let alone run for election? "Oops, he was a terrorist but he's a good boy now"?

Majority Muslim community.

Starmer's in China right as it turns out the Chinese have had access to supposedly secure government comms for at least the last four years. BBC Predictably not reporting it.

Not posting full articles because they'd be too long.

It would be funny if this led to another u-turn: Rwanda seeks £100m from UK over axed asylum deal

The Rwandan government is claiming it is owed £100m by the UK over payments due under an asylum agreement cancelled by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Rwanda has filed an international arbitration case, arguing the UK has breached the terms of the deal to send some asylum seekers to the east African nation.

Under the deal, which was signed by the previous Conservative government, the UK agreed to make payments to Rwanda to host asylum seekers who had arrived illegally in Britain.

In a statement, Rwanda's government said it had decided to pursue claims in arbitration after facing the UK's "intransigence on these issues".

One for our man in wales (sounds like the real story is she's worried people will vote for other parties to protest against Starmer): Wales' first minister refuses to support Keir Starmer

Wales' first minister has refused to support Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, telling the BBC the leader of the Labour party is "not on the ballot" at her country's elections in May.

Eluned Morgan repeatedly refused to say if she thought Sir Keir was good at his job when she was interviewed by the Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday morning.

Instead, Welsh Labour leader Morgan said the Senedd election was not a time for the public in Wales to protest against the UK government.

The UK government was asked for comment.

I wonder why scabies is becoming more common? Mum's scabies 'nightmare' as reports of parasitic infestations rise

A woman who had scabies has described the experience as a "nightmare" as figures show a rise in reported cases of the parasitic infestation.

Jane Grandon, from Caerphilly, said scabies - caused by tiny mites that burrow into the skin - had a "really bad impact" on her, after being misdiagnosed several times and losing out on earnings while being off work.

Dr Donald Grant, a GP who practises in a Welsh NHS surgery, said reported cases had risen steadily in recent years, with figures "massively exceeding" pre-pandemic levels.

The British Association of Dermatologists said scabies was still incorrectly perceived as a "medieval disease" and that breaking down the stigma was important.
