A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I really don't see the issue. If you need to be licensed and accredited to cut toenails then you should need the same to exercise the Law.

The fact many police officers are furious about this is hilarious and telling.
Remember when they were going to introduce mandatory drug testing and the police unions went mental and they scrapped it?

I had a mate who had to resign immediately from a job on the oil rigs after he got pissed one weekend and powdered his noise when he was out of his mind, as he was worried about a random piss test destroying his career. Somehow he’s more responsible than a police officer.

The Bone Temple was mediocre. Screamingly obvious it was directed by a nigger. And the use of music in it was overbearing.

If you have to rely on music that's not written for, and to complement your film,to engage your audience or elicit a response, then you're a crap director. But it makes sense a tongue clicking diversity hire wouldn't be up to snuff.

Da Costa isn't just a nigger, she's also an American Nigger. The absolute worst of it all. The film felt simple, basic, entry level dumbed down shite but given it was directed by a nigger woman from the USA that makes sense.
It was much better than that steaming pile of shit that was 28 Years Later.

Also cillian Murphy looks God awful, what has he done to his face? I loved the little dig at the end about how patriotism and nationalism bad at the end. I guess she couldn't help sneaking that in there. Nogs gonna nog.

Does he have any recourse? I hope not, he's a real wrong 'un IMO, strong Cyril Smith energy.
Papers today had a bunch of op-eds about Streeting vs Burnham... I guess it's a wes coronation afterall? The fact they're openly discussing it as a by-gone states just how much of a lame-dead-spit-and-roasted duck kieth is I guess, not even his own party is pretending he's anything but a cumflated suit anymore.

I find this hilarious as I hate Burnham, but the excuse the Labour NEC gave of “avoiding a costly election and putting the mayoralty at risk” shows what an utter contempt for democracy Labour have, if it wasn’t evident enough from the May elections they cancelled.

I hope they stand a black trans lesbian in that seat and lose to a Reform teenager who was stood there because they didn’t think they had a chance of winning.

Mobilefagging: theres a decent sized pro Shah demonstration going on in Bham right now. Couple guys with Israeli flags and carrying huge pictures of Reza, with huge Sun and Lion flags being flown alongside the Union Jack and English flags.
Shit ton of police as well, which we never had during the roughly same sized Palestine demonstrations. I wonder how the midlands police are taking the Israeli flags being waved around outside town hall.

Funnily enough, all this happens the day before Starmer leaves the country. Funny how this keeps happening. It shows his political ignorance because everyone with knowledge of politics knows that the first work week after a rift is exposed, you stay. You stay to prevent further discord and talking, but Starmer is going to fuck off and let them do it.

His blocking Burnham is just sheer cowardice and retardation. He has enacted a Labour Civil War at the worst time. There is going to be a discussion soon on the Chagos deal and Starmer, Lammy, and Hermer misleading Parliament. He is going to have to U-turn on the social media ban because the Police are coming out and saying that "they cannot enforce it due to resources and scope."This is at the same time when Mahmood is scrapping a lot of Police roles, from what a lot of people on Reddit, etc., are saying they are leaving. The Police already had a turnover issue, but now, it's even worse.

The party will probably now just start by ousting Mahmood and Lammy. They're pretty easy to take out, honestly.

I have never (and will never) forgiven Nia Da Costa for that fucking Candyman remake/sequel-masquerading-as-a-remake/BLM propaganda piece that everyone had to pretend to like and say was good for about six months because otherwise people would say you were racist.

The bit that really rustled my jimmies was at the end where the negress gets bundled into the back of the police car by the racist cop and she looks into the rear view mirror and starts going, "Candyman... Candyman... Candyman... Candyman."
And then the evil racist white cop hears her, smirks and goes, "Candyman?"
And then a fucking digitally de-aged Tony Todd turns up looking like a really shit CGI special effect and starts ripping all the evil racist wypipo to shreds, because this mass-murdering ghost that everyone's afraid of, this sinister, unknowable secret urban legend made flesh, actually just operates like some sort of gay lame superhero for black people, like out of a Marvel film, and then the negress makes this face: :smug:

And I almost stood up in my seat and shouted, "THAT WOULDN'T WORK. IF YOU ONLY SAY HIS NAME FOUR TIMES WHILE LOOKING INTO A MIRROR, THAT WOULDN'T INVOKE THE CANDYMAN, AND IF THE COP SAID IT THAT STILL WOULDN'T MAKE IT FIVE TIMES - THAT WOULD BE THE FIRST 'CANDYMAN' IN A NEW LINE OF 'CANDYMANS' AND WOULDN'T COUNT IN THE OTHER LINE OF 'CANDYMANS'. YOU HAVE TO SAY IT FIVE TIMES, NOT SAY IT FOUR TIMES AND THEN HAVE SOMEONE ELSE FINISH IT OFF BY SAYING IT ONCE.

...YOU FUCKING NIGGER!"

I almost shouted that in the cinema. Word for word.

mainly talk to Americans in a business setting, but I still find it a bit amusing that they just assume that I hate Trump. I've had colleagues outright apologise for him. I always think it's a bit odd.
I love this. I get it too and I’ve got the slightly puzzled response down pat - oh really? No… no I wouldn’t say he’s unpopular here I mean like all your presidents he’s done some positive and some negative, rather like Obama.
They genuinely don’t know how to reply and it’s hilarious.

I said candyman five times into a mirror and i got a bbc news alert saying that another nigger had defected to reform.

I now realise that my reading the shop fronts in the rear view mirror on my way through town has been an absolute disaster for this country. If only they'd put a turkish barber in there, things would have been different.

Turkish barbers
Tanning shop
Nail bar
Bookies
Halal fried chicken
Tattoos/piercing studio.
You can probably create a map of how nice various bits of your town are by categorising shops.

Don't forget the shitty little 'grocery' stores selling half rotten exotic fruit and random leaves that have more flies than they do products.
I went into a supermarket/butcher/grocer in Reading once and there was a half rotting sheeps head on the counter and the stink made me immediately gag. I hate them so much.
