A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They don't care about you. Enough with the Astroturfing and Reform recruitment ground stuff.
Nah, because I'm gearing up to catch the Rupert Lowe bug and start astroturfing for that old fart. So I gotta defend my welsh nigger so I don't look too hypocritical when I do it lmao. Also my 2am shitty McDonalds after a night out has been consumed, I must sleep because tomorrow I am going for a yomp. I will die hungover, cold and sick of carrying big backpack O shite.

There are no right wing parties in the UK. The right wing doesn't exist. Reform isn't even right wing but if the uniparty media keep repeating the lie often enough, it becomes the truth in the mind of the plebs.

A true conservative/right-wing party in a white country would have no gay, strict immigration, no trans, harsh punishment of offenders, a better police state with more efficient enforcement and would push for the family unit.
OK but you know what I mean right? A party like the one you are proposing cannot win an election in the UK for a very long time, and that's if we manage to reengineer our entire society to have those values.

I know what you mean. If a party like that cannot even be on the ballot for a very long time, then I no longer live in a country that I recognise, that has my beliefs of my interests at heart.
My country was reengineered away from me, so fuck it.

Why wouldn't people leave if they're now alien in their own home?

It's always "you can't do that, no one would stand for it" and yet everyone is literally wanting it. And I do mean everyone wants it. This constant excuse for why you can't give the public what they want is sickening. The public want RID OF THE FOREIGNER. Reform became the biggest political party in the UK by saying they would stop the boats and get rid of the ones here.

If the country isn't ready for it now then it never will be (we're literally running out of times. With a decade or two left at most). And all the signs say they want it as fast as possible. But no one has the balls to stand up and say it. Maybe Lowe will but we shall see.

"In 20 years when the pakis out number us due to the way they breed, we'll take back our country and stop the boats" is a suicide pact. Not a solution. And joining controlled opposition and giving them your life savings is not a solution either. But some people don't want to hear it because they're so desperate they will cling to yet another right wing grifter with a bunch of non-white sponsors.

We can't stop the boats coming over in the exact same way Biden couldn't stop people crossing the southern border - the second Trump came in, without even doing anything, it went from millions to almost zero. As soon as the parasites find out that they will get drop kicked back out the second they arrive, they will go look for someone else to leach off of.

When talk and debate turns into a screaming fest and threats being sent, then I've every reason to leave until people can grow up and be civil regardless of their beliefs.
Of course, I'm not saying that you shouldn't or that you're wrong to block people or take a break for a few days, I'm just saying that announcing it the the whole thread is a very lefty thing to do. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ask yourselves what are YOU doing to make the change you want happen - are you part of a political party or movement which aims to make things better?
I'm one of those Englishmen who believe that a politition is a politition, no matter the colour of his tie; They're all cheating lying scum that hate this country, and I don't trust a single one of them. It hasn't failed me yet! If you think Reform will be any different, well, I hope you're right. I just don't see it. I don't care much to get involved in politics myself (I know my place) but I do what I can to help out, wherever I may be, and make the place just that little bit nicer. Just like the good old days.

I think that one of the most productive things that anyone here could do is to get to know their neighbours. Whether or not Reform wins the next election, or keep their promises, a friend is a friend.

Only 10 to 30% of the population supported the American Revolution at the time.

Change has always been brought about by the few who put their best efforts into it, majority of people are like grass they bend to the stronger wind.

Our ancestors have been here to thousands of year, why would you be a coward and leave now? I can point to the eroded grave of my great-great-great... Grandpa born in the late 17th century only because my Grandma told me, who in her self was told by her grandparents. We are entitled to the lands named after our ethnicity.

Every modern leftie trope was vilified only a short while ago. Homo marriage was only made legal within the last few decades. The only reason this came to be was that left-wingers targeted universities and poisoned the intellectual class. Giving them control over the media. Both journalism and entertainment.

This comes up a lot, that leaving is cowardice, where does that come from? Are those who moved across the empire, cowards? The canadians, australian (non-criminal) new zealanders, americans, norn irish. Are they cowards?

Our country was once a set of ideals, beliefs and a value system, that's what made Britain, Britain. That doesn't exist anymore. I know lots and lots of people who have moved abroad, most of my childhood friends and a few birds I used to know, all gone. All bar one went to NZ.
Blokes I used to work with have retired and gone to spain and one dodgy cunt went to thailand.
Millionaires are leaving in droves, are they cowards?

Why overstay your welcome as an unwanted guest, which is what I am. Maybe you're not, maybe you still fit in with what has become of this country.

I often hear this from someone who is marrying an American and, hopefully, leaving on a K-1 visa. I am fortunate where I live, in a predominantly white area, but I see the rot start to seep in. Not collected bins, rising unemployment, and increasing crime rates are increasing. On top of that, rising food costs and businesses in my area are closing down, even factories. For me, the main reason why I want to leave, other than my loved one, is the malaise. It just gets suffocating, plus the weather sucks ass. I really understand why people move for the weather.

As Duane said, I for some reason, know a few business owners who would be millionaires, and they are patriotic as hell, but leaving the country. They're leaving because the tax man is burning their money for nothing.

Being in Hong Kong- one of the loveliest places on earth
Is he on glue? Hong Kong is fun, and interesting, but I wouldn’t say it’s one of the loveliest places on earth.
According to AI (for all it's worth):

'No single "gay gene" determines sexuality, but research shows it's a complex mix of genetics, prenatal hormone exposure, epigenetics (gene expression), and environmental factors, suggesting innate components rather than a choice, with some evidence pointing to influences starting even before birth, influencing brain development related to attraction.'
no it’s abusive imprinting during the key critical period of development.
But anyway, trannies and gays are not the main focus.
You need to fix the economy and the demographic shift. Everything else is downstream of that. Don’t focus on culture wars shit, the biggest issue is that we are dying as a country

I'm sure I've just spotted a tranny at the end of the Gala bingo advert.
A bloke looks out of the window of a house, and inside the house is what I'm sure is a bloke dressed as a woman, sat on a chair with his phone in his hand, then starts to do a cringy happy dance.
At least the "Chairs For Trans" charity work that Dame Katy carries out is reaching the needy.

Where's a good place to get real, good quality cheese? The cheese at the supermarkets all looks like goyslop. Sucks there isn't a cheese shop near me.
Either you're living in some piddly little hamlet in the Isle of Wight or you have extremely high standards of cheese.

The average ASDA/Tesco/Morrisons/M&S etc. that you can pop in at any part of the entire UK has half an aisle of cheese including around two types of blue cheese, a few types of brie, a few types of edam, all the cheddar you stomach and anything else that tickles your fancy. The cheese counter is likely to have that exact same cheese but unwrapped. You can get pricier artisan cheese at some local butchers (yep, it surprised me too) and if you're really extreme with your cheese tastes I guess you could travel for an hour to find your local cheesemonger.

The standards of cheese are so good in the UK that you could buy tesco's own value cheddar and it'd still taste great in a toastie.

Just don't get vegan cheese or I will track you down and hunt you for sport.

Are we also going to nuke bisexuals and asexuals from orbit as well?
Yes. Bisexuals are just fags in denial who spread disease, asexuals usually have some kind of medical issue or severe sexual trauma (like being molested by pakis from birth), so nuking seems a bit extreme for them unless they are obnoxious about it.
And if you asked your average 19 year old private or seaman if he wanted to patrol the southern beaches with a big ass machine gun, he would start salivating at the chance to LARP as Captain Price. We can stop the boats.

Nandy - 'Greenland's people must decide their future' and other 'we will protect the danes' posturing. It's not relevant but I'm so sick of the 'uhhhh hunting whales and seal is illegal in the USA how will the Inuit continue their practices' argument; the USA allows for natives to hunt according to their traditional ways. Alaskan natives still spear gun seals because that's their main food source and they have no incentive to decimate the population.
Kent still has no water.
About 4,500 homes in Kent are experiencing water supply issues.

South East Water (SEW) said the disruption affecting several villages around Maidstone was caused by an electrical fault at a treatment works.

Incident manager Matthew Dean said: "We're sorry to customers currently impacted by the water supply interruptions across our network in Kent."

"We have resolved this issue, and are refilling the pipes slowly and carefully. We expect supplies to return later today."
Meanwhile, about 320 properties in the Bidborough area of Tunbridge Wells have been experiencing water supply issues since Wednesday.

"The Bidborough area is currently with intermittent supplies and low pressure. We expect supplies here to return to normal on Monday morning," Dean added.
