A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The last time Owen Jones was relevant was 15 years ago when he wrote Chavs. He's not worth getting this MATI over.
If you're going to fed post at least be funny and literate.
I still laugh that he wrote a book on the establishment with zero self awareness that he is the fucking establishment,
Are you alright?
Busy M&S and picked up what looked like a selection of cheeses and just wanting to get out of there.

It was a weird experience but not terrible.
Why is Gen Z so cucked? The globalisation of culture might be a part and the fact they don't want their mate deported. Hopefully having to share a classroom with loud obnoxious niggers and a diet of IG Reels will cause Gen Alpha to become more based than us.
People keep telling me that the zoomers are the most hecking based generation. These people don’t go outside though and make videos for 5 teens to spam the word gamer word on Discord.

If they turn out worse than the Millennials we are truly fucked.
As somebody who was born Catholic,
This is a lie. All children are born Muslim.

It's probably more accurate to say they're the most extremist generation. They don't seem to do middle ground - though, having said that, they're in their late teens and 20s now, so maybe they're starting to mellow out a bit. Besides, what we see of them are only the most visible ones. Judging a generation by its youtubers and streamers isn't exactly going to give you a broad overview, given they're already self-selected for being more extrovert, opinionated, and conformed to positions that drive engagement.

I can see them going full blown far right when they realise they've been sold a lie, and their 2:2 in a soft subject from a former poly (and not to diss them as such, some offer very highly rated practical degrees with excellent prospects) which has got them tits deep in debt, isn't the golden ticket to a first job out of uni, netting them 80k with good benefits.

Then having to find somewhere to live, the realisation that you'll have to uproot away from family and friends, that you'll likely be trapped in a grotty house share for years to save for a Barratt shit box, miles from amenities.

If anyone wants a lol at someone else's expense, then reading through the UK Law subreddit is great, for seeing starry eyed law students realizing they hate their degree, and their career prospects and that they won't get the life of their dreams. They come down to earth with a hell of a bump.

  • It's the West's fault they are refugees because we bombed them for being terrorists
In some cases this is true. However, most of the time the British people were either opposed to that (Iraq) or wildly mislead (Libya) as examples. The solution isn't to let an elite class do what they want and we pay for it both times, but neither.
  • We CAN take care of them but all the resources to do so are just being hoarded by the elites
Mass immigration is a short-term economic gain for those elites because it boosts rental prices, house prices and suppresses wages. If he thinks the elites are powerful, ask him why mass immigration happens if it's not to their benefit.

  • They are woman and children
The majority are not.

Bonus round: assess his position on various matters such as women's rights and protections, FGM, gay rights, etc. and then compare and contrast with the attitudes of the countries most of the mass immigration is from.

He's unlikely to start thinking, but it can be very effective when done in front of other people, if you can keep your calm.

I was exposed to an M&S Christmas cake last week. Whilst tasty, I observed that they have removed any reference to Christmas from the packaging and now label it an "iced fruit cake". M&S are pretty much on board with the "Happy Holidays" crowd.

British taxpayers fund Kenyan sex chatbot - ‘Pleasure-oriented’ app launched as part of £41m scheme did little to improve sexual health, academics found
A “pleasure-oriented” sex chatbot for Kenyan teenagers was developed using aid money from British taxpayers, The Telegraph can disclose.
The app was built as part of a £41m UK aid programme which aims to invest in “radical technology solutions” to issues in the developing world.
The Nena chatbot was described as “a pleasure-oriented digital companion for young people exploring sexual health” and aimed at those between the ages of 18 and 24 – but an academic study suggested it had done little to improve sexual health.
Other projects which have received taxpayer funding include “pay-as-you-chill” cold storage in Zambia and “smart contraceptive vending machines” in Nairobi.
1767103349901.png
MPs asked why taxpayers’ money was being “wasted” on such schemes and called for a review of foreign aid spending.
It is the latest in a series of revelations by The Telegraph about aid spending including a £52m “road to nowhere” through the Amazon rainforest and a push to stop ocean plastic pollution in landlocked African countries.
Dame Priti Patel, the shadow foreign secretary, said: “Britain is a country, not a charity. In this ever-changing world UK Aid must serve our national interest.
“Aid allocations have not been strategic enough and far too much money has been funnelled into inappropriate projects without scrutiny or conditionality.”
The sex chatbot was funded in 2019 as part of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Ideas to Impact aid programme which it says is aimed at “testing new technologies and innovative approaches to address development challenges”.
The chatbot was designed to encourage safe sex in Kenya, which has the third-largest HIV epidemic in the world and where more than half of new infections are among the young.
The developers discovered that there was a “an interest among Kenyan youth to access information on sexual pleasure topics, including a strong interest in information on how to give and receive sexual pleasure”.
1767103342315.png
The topics of sex and pleasure made up about 70 per cent of the total number of app views, a review found.
However, of the 1,119 referrals sent to a local sexual health clinic through the app, not a single one led to further action. A study found that there was no evidence of increased use of contraception as a result of the chatbot.
Despite the issues, officials said the pilot was “promising” and they would look at “further fundings”.
The FCDO refused to respond to questions about how much taxpayer’s money was spent on the chatbot and said it was “not appropriate for officials to comment on funding decisions made under previous administrations”.
‘Foreign aid needs slashing’
Lee Anderson, Reform MP for Ashfield, said it was “more proof that foreign aid needs slashing”.
“I remember a time when money sent abroad was meant to help irrigate and farm the land in poorer countries,” he said. “British taxpayers’ money should not be being wasted on these ridiculous schemes. Whoever dreamt up this idea needs sacking.”
The Ideas to Impact programme, which won a Civil Service award for innovation, was seen as such as success that it received a five-year extension and is due to be completed next year with a total spend of £41m.
Part of the programme was the establishment of the “Frontier Hub” a vehicle for the FCDO “to invest in early-stage ideas and radical technology solutions, build capacity to develop, use and govern technology responsibly and support locally led innovation”.
1767103391329.png
One of the hub’s latest projects, starting in November 2025, is an “AI Literacy Lab” designed to teach people across the Baltics how to spot deepfakes, which are realistic looking videos, picture or audio clips made with artificial intelligence, and other online misinformation.

Other projects have included technology designed to improve water quality, apps for farmers to improve their harvest and tech to help diagnose diseases such as TB.
Each of the projects is “imagined” by a “pioneer” who works at the FCDO and is selected to take part in a pilot programme, according to the Frontier Hub website.
The “pioneers” are described as “thought leaders pushing the envelope of how technology is being used to solve development problems”.

The Telegraph’s revelations have led to calls for a review of the aid budget to put an end to waste abroad.
Dame Priti said: “When I was development secretary, I built up a record of reviewing and stopping wasteful aid.
“The Conservatives are clear that we need wholescale reform of overseas aid, savings billions of pounds and ensuring British taxpayers’ money is used to support our country’s interest.”
An FCDO spokesman said: “The current Government has made clear that it is determined to deliver value for money for the taxpayer across the development budget.”

From my experience anyone who's gone to Uni is a lost cause.

They will only ever blame the "rich elites" for shit. The problem is that for four years they're effectively separated from the rest of society and confined to Uni campuses, clubs and friends. It's an echo chamber of the highest order and any descent from the popular left wing opinions are mocked and belittled.

Doesn't help that people with right wing views at Unis tend to shoot themselves in the foot by being retards half the time anyway. There was a reason Rupert Lowe was kicked out of Reform and Unis are full of Rupert Lowe. They have no idea what appealing to normal humans beings is.

People who skipped Uni and went straight into work have effectively had to deal with reality instead of the Uni hugbox for years at this point and have seen how bad it's gotten.

Too many people go to University now and it's devalued higher education as a whole. Even worse is that these people are being put in debt to pay for a useless degree. Instead of reducing the number of people at Uni they just want the government to pay for it so they can continue to do FA for four years.

Not to doom, but don't hold your breath on Gen Alpha; the pendulum might be swinging overall, but Agartha edits aren't going to fix the zonked out iPad babies. Even if they weren't surrounded by nogs day in day out, you need discipline and shared culture if you want to save the white race, and they sure aren't getting that when their parents give them a screen 10 hours a day and schools have rapidly abolished any semblance of standards to cater to the third world.

As for being cucked, the mentality exists across every generation. I think zoomers are some of the most obnoxious because of internet/university echo chambers, and the fact that being unemployed and with little to no investments in the current system gives them nothing to lose.
I've seen the cucked mentality in older generations as well, though. I had many based conversations over Christmas dinner, ranging from "they aren't compatible with our culture" to "hang every single one of them", but the other side of my family have guardrails in their brains where they'll recognise the issue but always insist that the solutions "can't be black and white".
As with many leftists, they aren't aligned based on whatever they think has the best chance of fixing the problem; it's whatever makes them feel 'nice'. 'Nuclear power' feels mean. 'Christian values' feels mean. 'Border security' feels mean. Wind turbines, multiculturalism and safe-edgy communism feel 'nice'. It's a mentality from those more afraid of being on the wrong side of history than anyone who's actually thought about where our country is headed. Zoomers are very susceptible to this because of social media, but speak with any regular Church of England goer and you'll have a similar experience.

There was a reason Rupert Lowe was kicked out of Reform and Unis are full of Rupert Lowe. They have no idea what appealing to normal humans beings is.
Lowe was kicked out of reform because Farage is a narc snake, who positions himself where he feels the current 'elite' in power might find unpalatable but acceptable, and then viciously punches right as hard and as often as he can. Lowe is literally just a dull Thatcher conservative, he did a big interview with Carl Benjamin recently and spent the entire time just saying that the solution is to deregulate the market and let the economy naturally push immigrants away. He's about as 'extreme' as knitting.

I’ve said this before, but we’ve stopped hiring people who have done a masters (unless it’s specific to a technical role) as they’re laziest most entitled cunts you can ever come across.

People with an MLitt are the worst people on the planet.

I don't disagree that Rupert Lowe is based but it's not us that need to be won over for things to change, it's your average boomer who's put off by Lowe's more extreme views. Screaming for total remigration might turn a lot of potential Reform voters away.

I'm going to sound like a cunt here, but did you read what I wrote?

EDIT: To avoid being glib, Rupert Lowe is not based. He's literally just a conservative from the 1990s. His entire policy is 'fuck the poor' and 'do what Thatcher did'. He's basically Jacob Reese Mogg. Farage himself also isn't based, we've got a literal paki in Reform. Like some sort of gross inoperable tumour.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news to chunky salsa, and to break my lurking streak, but Warwick Davies has been awarded an OBE.

We need to construct a set of gallows specifically for dwarfs.
I don't even hate him for his retarded politics, that's the worst part. I actually just have a violent phobia of midgets and the visually disabled. They make me feel ill to look at and it gives me cold sweats. It's a real flight or fight response; but you try and explain that to people and they think you're taking the piss. I'm not joking, this isn't a bit. You're all gonna think this is a bit, but I promise you I have an actual impulsive irrational fear of the disabled and midges.

It's ok mate, we all have our weird little foibles. Your just happens to be literally weird and little.

sometimes I take a disabled relative to the football. The disabled section near the away end is hilarious watching the spastics give the away fans shit.
