A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

No. I see an immediate problem with the endpoints. It's a short dataset, but it looks like a sinusoidal behaviour, with the record starting on a peak and ending in a trough. They've drawn a straight line from one to the other and called it a downward trend for political purposes, but that straight line doesn't remotely represent reality. The actual trend is probably close to flat. It would require a much longer record to be sure.

It's a bit of a distraction as well. The dissident claim is that criminality in general has risen, but the establishment counter-argument is always framed in terms of a subset of violent crime, which is further narrowed to only murders in this case. It's basically statistical manipulation. Very deceptive.
Yeah, reminded me straight away of the bullshit figures they use for ‘climate change is man-made’, with the ‘hockey stick’ and all. They know there are longer term studies and figures that put it in far better context. It’s just not politically expedient to do so.

At this point I’m baffled as to why anyone reads news (especially BBC), when it all seems to be skewed for propaganda purposes.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's also some messing around with the way deaths are investigated, could see some being classed as "accidental" deaths, "suicides", someone intentionally run over being traffic related plus if any are committed by "asylum seekers", can see that with the defence statements in that recent rape case regarding to can't show footage as would cause outrage and danger for their clients...

Agree with there being a shift in normie opinions, some colleagues have made comments I would consider as extremely unexpected for them, without PL'ing, for context business has several clients that's dependent on healthcare/social work policies so increased interaction has been an eye opener for some of them. Unfortunately don't think it's enough yet to start to see the significant changes we drastically need, as even after seeing it first hand, majority treat it an exception rather than the rule, will still trot out the bleeding heart liberal horseshit to try to justify us bending over backwards to give them everything

Edit Ok...I may also have had poured larger measures than intended too

I mean it just says murders. Crime has two aspects, the actus reus, the guilty act, ie the crime itself and the mens rae, the guilty mind, that is,the intention behind it.

Any defence brief worth their salt is gonna tell TarQ'uiShan/Achmed/Nbugu, you didn't mean to kill them, murder wasn't your intention, so we'll pitch that and see if you can get manslaughter instead. Though quite how you can stab someone and not know it'll come with a very possible side effect of death is past me.

Murder =/= deaths, and the important stat they're hiding with this, is how many people were killed in London in the time frame specified? More to the point, how many white British people were killed by non-white, non-British vermin while going about their peaceful, lawful business?

Also I don't know why they've used the term "homicide" that doesn't exist as a crime in English/Welsh law. In Scots law you have culpable homicide but that's not the same thing, it's something to do with someone in a business causing death of clients/employees/customers/ the public (I think? Not too familiar with Scottish law tbh).

I know the mayor of London is a raging fucking spastic and all but seriously. Precision of language, especially when referring to crime, is important. To use the wrong terminology is a clear attempt to hide shit imo.

They’re focussing on murders because the rest of the crimes are through the roof, and that’s even with people not bothering most of the time to report a crime because the police don’t investigate.

They’ve lost control of our capital city and they’re overdosing on copium.

Just another case of watching America too much and believing the U.K. is exactly the same. Remember back in the mists of time (around 2010) when SJWs decried ‘cultural imperialism’? Here’s our government and powers that be doing exactly that, gleefully aided and abetted by the media.

The UK is a beautiful nation with extreme regional differences, it’s absolutely criminal that we’re losing those differences to the tide of ‘acceptance’ and ‘progress’.

'Homicide' in and of itself isn't a crime anywhere, it's a banner category that encompasses any situation where one person kills another. Perfectly legal killings - e.g. self-defence - would still be cases of homicide. This isn't to have a go, I find that even generally well-informed people will make this mistake (probably due to the influence of Homicide: Life On The Street), but government bodies trying to slip that by is basically an admission they're cooking the books or otherwise incredibly incompetent.

Do you think stats like this refute that argument in any way as London has become more non White and do you think leftists could exploit stats like this to counter that argument?
If murders are down in London it's because of the distribution of bleed kits and the improvement in treating stab wounds leading to more of them being survivable. No city ever got more peaceful as a result of an influx of degenerate barbarians.
Wars, and civil wars, are counted by how many deaths there are; if there are more than 1000 deaths per calendar year due to a conflict, it is considered a [civil] war (Small and Singer 1982, the most accepted definition in International politics) Its a contested definition with some not counting civilian deaths/deaths due to starvation not conflict etc, and COW even changed it to include 25 deaths per year due to 'conflict' (but does not/or did not include the Greco-Turkish conflicts over Cyprus as a war for a very long time)
Modern methods are starting to fuck with even 'amount of soldiers dying in battle' counts; less people are dying in wars due to modern medicine - you will likely die from infection in the Crimean War or in the Somme, but by Korea/Vietnam hospitals were getting better, and by Iraq/Afghanistan people were surviving things they never would in other wars. Weapons also got more precise, with computer operated drones rather than a bunch of Canucks storming a trench to kill- if the death toll doesn't cap 1000 per year due to medical intervention or only directly striking ISIS hideouts rather than razing entire villages, does that stop it being a war? If we dont' count those skirmishes as war, does the world get more peaceful?
Long statistic sperg to say no; statistics lie. Phone stealing gangs are rife, sexual assault on the tube is so common you get a video every week of someone knocking out a bloke (guesstherace) for touching young women, Tower Hamlets still exists... unironically we should think about muh lived experience of people living/travelling in London rather than some professor's stats.

Calling off elections is such an extreme thing. How did we get here? It blows my mind that people aren’t up in arms about this

The initial argument was around all of these flipping super councils they want so they wanted to postpone elections since after those were in it would have required new elections anyway (which was a red flag then).

Now they are postponing more elections at the same time as those prior ones are coming up for 12 months overdue and being postponed again.

In a rare defence of a party that does not deserve it even the Lib Dems are calling bull now. It's pretty blatant that Labour is keenly aware every election they have has a risk of them losing a seat to one party or another and their "overwhelming majority" could be gutted inside of a month. All the more so since many of those seats they are certain of holding are people like Diane Abbot who will defy the party if she thinks she can.

With that said the financial influences on all the parties understand this too and don't want sudden uncontrolled elections till they can identify the winner and buy them. So if Labour have to torch any semblance of being a democratic party to ensure their donors do not have to run the risk of a non-friendly party getting elected they will do so in a heartbeat while spitting in the eye of the electorate.

What's the betting labour try and have the Senedd elections called off? Sounds like Reform are on course to give Plaid and Labour an absolute pumping.
Welsh Labour are a different beast, most of the idiots from Morgan to Dripford, Antoniw, Irranca-Davies and Miles have already made it clear that they have no faith in Labour winning and most will want to get out with some dignity in tact.

UK Labour can't stop the vote going ahead on May 7th, it's a purely devolved issue and Morgan will just tell Starmer 'do your worst'. She at least has had more balls than Drippy and Gething, I'll give her that.

In Wales, Plaid are currently on 33% with Reform on 31-32% depending on which poll you read.

However, Plaid have been hit recently with Rhun Ap Iorwerth kowtowing to Labour over the Budget and also parachuting London nignogs into what they perceive to be 'safe seats' - it's backfired already.

My current thinking for the Senedd seats (out of 96):

Reform UK - 60 seats
Plaid Cymru - 24 seats
Liberal Democrats - 12 seats (they will win the two Cardiff 'super constituencies' due to Plaid enforcing an almost all-black list for these super constituencies.

Double post, but it's Gregg's related:

Great video, Sargon nails it.

Was going to mention his release, but it looks as if it's already being mentioned.

I just wonder how well Starmer knew his parents and knows him... after all, Starmer had links with Axel Unpronounceablelastname's Dad... lightning couldn't strike twice could it?

Some good news for Reform UK, we're winning over TUC members and our new policy that Civil servants who let sex offender migrants in will face sackings and loss of their pensions has gone down well.

I actually understand why they're so desperate to ban "Islamophobic" speech. Their culture is so repulsive that the only way to stop normal people from expressing disgust in it is to ban them from speaking about it at all. You don't even have to set out to be offensive, all you have to do is make factual statements (they slaughter animals by letting them bleed out with no anaesthesia; they think inbreeding for generation after generation is good; they regard women as property; they think lying to non-believers is virtuous, etc). If you're grossly offended by people literally describing your culture accurately, maybe you should rethink your culture.

Cool it with the antisemitism.

I know he was an insufferable Atheist but he did have a few good moments.

When your ‘culture’ is costing the country millions in health and social care due to interbred birth defects, perhaps, as a member of Parliament, you should be putting the wellbeing of your constituency before ‘culture’.

Doesnmt matter if the government makes it illegal anyway, they’ll still just marry their cousins abroad. They have zero respect for our rule of law if it clashes with their faith/customs. Tough. You live here, you live by our rules or leave.

Reform is going to prosecute (I hope this includes the managers/corporations) civil servants who let in sex offender migrants. They want to create a new offence of “dishonestly determining an asylum claim”, punishable by up to two years in prison, and potential loss of their job and pension
Civil servants who have knowingly let foreign sex offenders into Britain would be prosecuted under a Reform UK government, and face losing their jobs and pensions.

Angola and Namibia are going to take their illegal immigrants back - how many you ask? 3 from Angola, and none from Namibia, but the government has agreed to take any back. DRC to follow. I mean, I agree that countries should start to lose visa privileges if they don't play by the rules, but it seems Angola and Namibia were? They aren't the problem children here babes...
[Mahmood] "We expect countries to play by the rules. If one of their citizens has no right to be here, they must take them back. "I thank Angola and Namibia and welcome their co-operation. Now is the time for the Democratic Republic of Congo to do the right thing. Take your citizens back or lose the privilege of entering our country. "This is just the start of the measures I am taking to secure our border and ramp up the removal of those with no right to be here"
(EDIT: there have only been 11 illegal immigrants from the DRC.... Shabana what the fuck are you doing?)

Oh and the government (and Tories) are both in denial about that Egyptian guy who they let back in who was posting jew hate on twitter openly. They claim they had no idea his tweets existed........ right.
