https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

UK also is 'preparing to go to war' jfc. It's comical yet tragic watching European countries, who have long discarded their native male populations, suddenly scramble to find cannon fodder. I don't care for all the pro or anti Russia shit, I simply don't give a fuck about what happens on the other side of Europe, we simply aren't meant to as a species. Wars just breed more refugees to deal with and lets corpos drive the prices up. This also feels like the last hurrah of dying political parties trying to stir up 'good nationalism' instead of the nasty icky scary racist nationalism and 'far right' they are facing.
I feel like the 'war is imminent' shit is down to Europe similtaniously believing that Russia isn't going to stop at Ukraine and that NATO would fold and not join in with a war against a NATO country in order to protect their own self interests. Nobody is going to put boots on the ground in Ukraine because risking nuclear annihilation over Ukraine of all places is genuine retarded behaviour. But then again the entire war to begin with was genuinely retarded behavior from Russia so who knows what the fuck would happen.

But an alternative situation would be that should Russia and Ukraine thrash out a peace plan, it'd take decades for Russia to actually start industrialising the areas they've taken and they'd likely not want to attempt another war anytime soon as what would be the point of risking the destruction of properties on the areas they've just taken over.

There's just too many variables at play so it makes sense to prepare for war, even if there isn't going to be a war.

It will all begin to unravel in the New Year - yes, I am aware that people will gift me rainbows and say 'nothing ever happens' but I am not alone in seeing where this is going to end up
You're getting those rainbows because you've been predicting the unravelling for a while now. Eventually you will be right but by now you've already moved those goal posts far enough that both teams are scoring in the same half.

In a realistic sense Made in Wales is right that the situation has become toxic enough for Labour to be in a complete death spiral, he just doesn't seem to grasp that Labour are cockroaches who will cling on to power until they're literally dragged out. Labour could be polling below Your Party and they'd still reiterate that they have a majority and can do what they want.

I'll say this though, it's incredibly funny to see Labour and Tories go back and forth in the house of commons knowing that neither of them would actually be the opposition if an election was called today.

I genuinely can't see an attempt at a war with Russia ending any way other than Starmer being dragged out of number 10 and put on trial. No one is sending their sons to die for the world centre of child trafficking or its midget Jewish kleptocrat.

I remember this was attempted during the Victorian Era to stop Russia from winning against the Ottomans with the French joining the British. A lot of teenage conscripts were maimed if not outright killed, and Queen Victoria felt incredibly guilty about it to the point where she paid for medical expenses out of pocket for survivors. I cannot say the same for Keir Starmer, though. - It didn't work for the British Empire, and it didn't work for Napoleon before Victoria, either, so why would this be different?

Probably wouldn’t, but it’d be fun to drag them out of their holes and have a stern word . They simply never face the consequences of their actions. They dont have to live in the society they have created. They should have to live in it, down in the muck

I think its a mix of out of touch Eurocrats believing Russia is a genuine threat to Germany/its economic interests (idc if true or not) and using the threat of Russia as the boogeyman of politics (in-group out-group theory). War is 'great' to band a nation together, if only everyone cares about the boogeyman and isn't faced with rapists, high bills, food costs going up, the taxman, etc.

Green Party shenanigans; Green Party lawyers have warned of major legal risks that risk the future of the partyThey say a "queerphobia" definition used to expel members is unlawful because it treats legally protected views, like "trans women are not real women", as transphobic. Lawyers say this and other internal party failings pose a "material threat to the future of the party", calling for its 15 recommendations to be acted on as "a matter of urgency"
The report reveals the Greens spent £190,000 on legal and disciplinary costs in 2024, with another £350,000 budgeted for 2025–26. It warns these sums are "a substantial proportion of the Party’s income" and limit spending on "essential functions", such as staffingA Green Party spokesperson said: "Every political party makes provision in its financial planning for possible legal fees, and we are no different in this respect. It is a prudent action for us to take"
Parts of this report are factually inaccurate but we do acknowledge the need to improve our disciplinary processes and in particular to tackle delays. That work is under way.
"Our party policy is clear – trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary identities exist and are valid. "The Government has delayed its own response to draft guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission, produced in response to a Supreme Court ruling, reflecting the complexity of these issues. Our governance bodies will ensure that the party is legally and politically compliant."
[Please note: trans women are women, but 'non binary identities exist and are valid'? Can one not say nonbinaries are nonbinaries or?] Will Greens and Your Party get completely fucked over by men in dresses?

Reform now has the highest membership count in the UK; 268,702.

I suspect we’d be nuked to oblivion before that had the chance to happen. Russia has repeatedly stated that if it feels its existence as a state is under threat, it will use nuclear weapons to defend itself. I do believe there was even discussion earlier this year about changing the nuclear doctrine to pre-emptive strikes, in response to America having such a doctrine of its own. We’d be fucking insane to go to war with Russia. We will lose - everything.

War is only being spoken about as other posters have said; to keep ailing governments in power. It distracts from the shit situation at home with price rises, stagnating wages, benefit cuts, immigrants everywhere and police and health services so underfunded they’re barely functioning. It’s the same story across Europe, and is also why they’re so busy stating that Russia is coming to get them and we all need to be ready. If it wasn’t Russia they’d have found someone else to kick off against. Anything to refocus people away from how shit their countries are. Well, you wouldn’t want to be unpatriotic now, would you? I’m sure social media will be full of Cold War and WWII propaganda roleplay soon enough.

Will Greens and Your Party get completely fucked over by men in dresses?
Yes. Yes, they will. Until a party on the left learn to say no to people who are not leftists but want a platform, they will carry on disappearing up their own well-dilated arseholes. Spineless cowards are too scared to stand up to them, and the time is now past for the working man to want to support truly left wing policies. There’s been too much water under the bridge of selfishness and ‘welfare is bad’ etc. People have lost the art of working together for a common aim, even in the workplace or community (assuming those things exist any more).

I get that they will do everything to cling on to power, but I also realise that the toxicity will eventually be too much even for those rank and file MP's to stay loyal to Starmer.

The plotting has already begun to replace Starmer, but how successful it will be - who knows.

That majority is at risk - Corbyn, when he was leader, saw his shadow government lose 21 members over the course of a few days which then saw him have to compete against Owen Smith for leadership of the party (which he won, but then three years later he lost out to Boris Johnson at the 2019 GE).

In many ways, therefore, it's up to the backbenchers to stay in line with Starmer or to resign the whip in support of Rayner, Miliband, Streeting etc. They surely can't be happy that every day they are losing more and more support to Reform and the Libs/Greens, and it's just a case of delaying the inevitable.

Labour and Tories will soon be spoken of as parties of the past - though I accept change won't come this year, 2026 will be fertile ground... already there's panic in Labour that they will lose the Council Elections and in Wales Eluned Morgan's desperate pleas that 'only Welsh Labour will save the NHS' has been laughed out of the room.

Is Starmer mad enough to do a '45 minute dossier' type speech before Parliament? It would be on par with Reeves' lies and BS Budgets of the past two years and even the MSM would struggle to defend it.

Optimistic though I am, I do still believe that we are nearer the end than we know - it just frustratingly takes time for the 'Tower of Babel' to fall and whilst things might not appear to be happening as quickly as we want, don't forget that in order to get there other things need to fall into place first:

* The Labour Government is now the most hated and despised of any in history and it's only 1.5 years into a supposed five year term.

* Reform UK's success as a minor party has destroyed the credibility of the traditional big two and Nigel Farage has gone from being a fringe figure in politics to almost certainly our new leader.

* The Conference and Budget were needed to give Labour enough rope to hang themselves - the OBR leaking the Budget also proves that Civil Servants also privately want Labour gone.

* Any declaration of war against Russia will likely be the bridge too far (even General Sir Richard Dannatt has said that this is folly and has questioned Starmer's ability as PM as a result).

I don't know if anybody here has played Chess, but sometimes you need a lot of patience in order to get Checkmate. I agree with @Morethanabitfoolish and the premise that 'well you said things would change' and had Reform UK and others got wind from the OBR sooner (that leak was definitely planned) then the party would have called for a VONC and perhaps had been successful if the Tories and others including Labour rebels had forced through an Opposition Day motion to challenge the Government on the Budget.

Even within Reform UK, there was hope that a VONC could have brought about a Christmas GE this year and that the result in Caerphilly would have been a bell-weather for the national mood and also a test of would the Left gang up against Reform UK in seats or form pacts/agreements for the best 'Left' candidate to stand alone against a Reform UK PPC. We hoped and were confident, but there we go - on this occasion the OBR stayed loyal to Reeves... and then Reeves sacks their top bod.

It's also known that Starmer doesn't really want to be PM, but wants/needs the power kick.

If Owen Jones is to be believed, Labour never intended for Starmer to be PM and that he has ruined their chances of success perhaps deliberately - he's at war with both Blair and McSweeney and is refusing to follow orders/advice 'from above'. Not even Blair was daft enough to not listen to Mandleson and Campbell (scumbags for sure, but crucial for the 'success' of New Labour) but Starmer thinks that being PM means that he is at the top and everybody else has to bow to him.

The start of 2026 will be interesting times - Starmer will try to pivot more in favour of the EU than the USA/Trump (bad move, but he won't be told) and will look to help Zelensky claim victory for Ukraine over Russia whilst he also will have to deal with dissenters in his party and the possible return of the coofy with masks now mandatory at many hospitals and numbers of deaths increasing.

When the 'make or break' moment arrives, we'll definitely know.

If Starmer want his gen Z boogaloo then forced conscription of them would be the fastest way to do it.

Over 250 pubs (yes, 0.0008% of pubs in the UK, but hang on) have banned all Labour MPs from entering, in protest of tax rises. Pubs from Essex to the Peak District are joining in, backed by the Wonky Table hospitality representatives and breweries across the UK.

A while ago there was a video of an angry landlord chasing Starmer out of his pub and loudly swearing at him, things have definitely not calmed down since then.
When the 'make or break' moment arrives, we'll definitely know.
Mark me down as saying January is going to be an incredibly tough month for him. I will be surprised if he makes it though the New Year, people are already penniless in Jan and everything keeps going up, NYE is supposed to be a fresh start.

UK economy shrank unexpectedly by 0.1% in October

Unexpectedly. lol, lmao even. Anyway, if not for August numbers, we would be in a recession. Come next year, I cannot see how November has improved numbers when the country effectively stopped, waiting for the Budget announcement.

Unemployment is a serious issue at the moment, with some people been out of work 4+ months, even middle aged and professional people are struggling to find work. This is 1980's level of unemployment.

With regards to the Russian war, the EU announced within the last half hour that there will be an indefinite freeze on Russia's frozen cash and this will be gifted to Zelensky/Ukraine.

That's going to go down like a lead balloon with Putin.

Our $5bn (£4bn) contribution is roughly $1bn in loans, $1bn in grants and $3bn in guarantees.

Also 'Bang Bang' Bonnie Blue is to be deported back to these shores...

In lighter news

A Christmas lover who received an angry letter from a neighbour about his two 20ft festive decorations has now put up a 16.5ft Grinch alongside an enlarged copy of the complaint.

Dave Goodings, a DJ business owner, accidentally ordered a 20ft inflatable Santa last year thinking it was actually only 4ft. The 31-year-old put it up anyway and says it drew crowds of people keen to get photos. As a result, he added another 20ft inflatable - this time a £179 snowman - on Sunday.

However, the former Capital FM presenter says he was astonished when he received an anonymous complaint through his letterbox in Chessington, Greater London.

In response, Dave placed a giant inflatable Grinch, standing at 16.5ft tall, on his driveway and printed the original complaint letter onto a large bedsheet which he then dangled from his window for the entire street to observe.

The disgruntled neighbour said in the letter that the "tacky" decorations "ruin the character of the road and they make the whole area look ridiculous", before stating that they would be informing the council if they weren't taken down.

The full complaint, which came in an envelope bearing no name or address, read: "To the occupier of this house. I live down the road and I am absolutely horrified by the giant Santa and giant snowman inflatables you have put outside your property.
"They look cheap, tacky and completely out of place in our quiet street. The inflatables are an eyesore, they ruin the character of the road and they make the whole area look ridiculous rather than the nice tidy street it usually is."
It went on: "This is not a request, this is a formal complaint from someone who actually lives nearby. The display is offensive to the neighbourhood. It is ruining the view from our homes and it shows zero respect for the community.

"Please take them down immediately. If they are not removed at once I will be reporting the matter to the council and the residents association, and I will be urging others in the road to do the same. So, do the decent thing and bring them in before tonight! Regards, an unhappy neighbour."

Dave said: "The funny thing is, it has made more people laugh because the letter is ridiculous and it has brought so much happiness to people. That is what Christmas is all about. The mystery neighbour messed with the wrong person.

"It has been the highlight of my year because my inflatables are more in demand than ever, which is the total opposite of what the letter was trying to achieve."
Dave added that justice had officially been served, and that the person who wrote the letter was "too much of a coward to put their name on the letter."
He said: "They've now become the laughing stock not just of everyone in the community, but the country and even the world."

This is why I stick my head in the sand and try to ignore everything but nerd shit and sport. Crap like economic figures that you know are so massaged that if they show a slight contraction, the truth must be really goddamn awful. All the insane talk about war (guess the WWII generation are now dead and can’t tell everyone what a fucking insane idea it is). The bloke with his inflatables who thinks printing his neighbour’s complaint letter makes him look good, instead of like a selfish dickhead who just wants attention. All the backstabbing in parliament, and politics that’s so caught up in its own arguments that it can’t run the fucking country.

Sometimes I want to drag them all into the kitchen by their lug’oles and give them the leg slapping of a lifetime. Nobody seems to want to act like an adult and get shit sorted out.

Bloody kids, pack that in, etc. *slams door*

MATE. I am just so fucking offended. Somebody call the STASI and made in wales so they can suck more jew dick STAT!! Tommy will probably want to know about this too, you know how much he loves kikes
