A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

We know they know when they leave office because of the infamous "I'm afraid there is no money." note.
That was Liam Byrne's note to the incoming Cameron government. There was note note this time. Labour claimed they were left with a black hole, which the tories have openly disputed.

“Kemi, how would you feel if your party left power without a budgetary surplus?”

“But we did have a surplus?”

It’s frankly racist that you people think the Conservative Party can deal with high level theoretical concepts like that.

I don't have much time for Jeremy Hunt, but I believe him and his version more so than I believe liar Thieves.

As it's currently chucking it down here in Wales, the idea of 'water shortages' is currently laughable.
Trouble is, that yes we have a lot of rain, but we also have shit infrastructure, aren’t building any reservoirs and we are adding millions unchecked to the population without infrastructure upgrades.
This summer I drove over the Pennines and the reservoirs were empty. And I do mean empty, not low. They were empty, the bottoms were all visible, and either grass was growing or they were bare earth. I drove over last week again and they were brimming, it we shouldnt ever be that low
We are, and we will co to us to be because our criminal water companies pay themselves huge bonuses while allowing a vast percentage of that freshwater to leak out before it hits the taps. As well as pumping sewage out I to previously clean water systems.
This is a problem. It’s crazy that it’s a problem , but it’s a problem of over population and utterly shit management

Very well said, my water bill this year is £87.05 per month (won't have a water meter because sod the NWO) yet when you tell people it could be less if we actually had sensible people in charge they gawp at you like you're an alien.

I know that Bozo Spaffer (Boris) wanted to build a reservoir in Abingdon, Oxfordshire - wonder if his plans ever came to fruition?

If heckin snapchat of all places gets the grant gibs there's no reason not to fire off an application to .gov for those sweet sweet DEI pennies, is there janny.
I don't think UK is interested in subsidizing my moderation of a "hate forum".

OBR internal investigation is out into the budget leak. It's a doozy:

  • The leak happened because of two configuration errors in the OBR’s website setup
  • A WordPress plug-in (Download Monitor) created a public, guessable link to the PDF
  • That plug-in bypassed WordPress’s “hidden until publication” protection, so the file wasn’t actually hidden
  • The server wasn’t set up to block direct access to file directories, which made the problem worse
  • The URL structure for EFO documents was predictable, so people could guess the November link by changing the month in the March link
Of course, the inevitable conclusion will be: "If only we'd have used an 'Enterprise' solution written in Coldfusion and ActiveX. Get Fujitsu on the line..."

It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Get one meter installed, they control you.

They can kiss my arse.
I've got a well, with a particle filter and UV filter installed. Costs me £180 a year for a service, testing and replacing the filters as needed.

No one can control me.

I know someone who works in the water industry. In honesty the situation is far worse than anyone here likely thinks it is. Both in terms of corruption and infrastructure.
My family's water costs are fine but increasing, so we're taking measures to reduce water use in ways that don't affect quality of life. I'd like to at some point get something like a reverse-osmosis filter rather than just a Brita. Might just ask the tinfoils I know if I can have their gear once they replace it.

Aside from that, me and family now figure that Reeves must have something on Starmer to still have a job, having done multiple career-ending fuckups and he still defends her to the last breath.
My guess is she has proof of him noncing those rentboys a while back. But of course that's just speculation. That or she's that much of a cock vacuum even Monica Lewinsky would be jealous of the technique on display.

I was so confused on you guys talking about water meters till I realized we pay that shit through the council tax for so long that it became a foreign idea. It does remind me and amuse me when certain working class Scots (Mostly Labour/Tory Unionists I've noticed) complain about how awful the services here when people come over from England telling them how good they have it. It doesn't seem to register to them that England is going through worse then we are.

Don't get me wrong. Our services are shite and can be improved a lot but I think many Scots need an eye-opener on how bad it really is down south for many people who are struggling.

Aside from that, me and family now figure that Reeves must have something on Starmer to still have a job, having done multiple career-ending fuckups and he still defends her to the last breath.

I think Starmer knows that he's fucked no matter what he does so he's just letting her do whatever to keep the media focused on her. Although either of those things you suggested wouldn't surprise me with how MPs are stupid deviants. I think there was recently two or three Labour MSPs getting involved in recording the Scottish Parliament toilets so it tracks.

They gotta be fucking. 1000%.
Leaks via the i Paper - OBR Hughes was forced out by Reeves for contradicting her claims about the budget. The Treasury was willing to let Hughes stay with an apology for the leak + change to the system, but Reeves wasn't happy with it. Relations between the Treasury and the OBR are now at an 'all time low'. I thought it was weird for him to resign over just the leak of the budget only a few hours before (+ all the other leaks about it, why him? it was a bad leak, but why him when we basically already knew what the budget was from everything else? the civil service has been like a colander these past few weeks) but this makes sense now if Reeves had him forced out as a punishment for correcting her. JFC

Doubt we've heard the last of Hughes in this sordid affair.

Imagine being absolutely spineless, so that you get rattled so easily by rat-face Rory. This is an absolutely hilarious interview, purely for entertainment. It starts with a sob story about him being a gay jew in Manchester, being bullied into a private school (scholarship), then goes into actual importances about trade, Trump, economy, which is the best part because he doesn't seem to know the difference between deficit and debt.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=_DC2MHOiUf0
slowly watched this over the course of the day because I can only handle this ratfaced (Polanski, Rory is irrelevant in current year) simpleton in small doses.

he just has no idea what he's talking about, he's so used to giving "content" answers, saying "well actually", or not answering a question and randomly trying to bring up other politicians. You can probably say "well what about [other politician]" once or twice and get away with it but eventually you need to just stop being a weasel and express your stance.

I find it deeply concerning that younger voters seem so taken with him, and its almost certainly because most of his exposure is just trying to dunk on or expose supposed hypocrisy by politicians these people already dislike - by the transitive property this guy is therefore based and exactly the leader we need! there is a basic bureaucratic, diplomatic, and economic framework that must be understood (regardless of your "radical paradigm") to attempt to lead a country, one that must be established before you even consider all the other shit like trannies, boatwogs, le orange bad man, israel. Anyone retarded enough to vote for this homosexual charlatan is going to be deeply disappointed when they realise you can't feed people with LGBT rights.

Also he spent a lot of time just saying "well studies have shown everyone loves the green party and we're awesome and cool actually"

Plus whatever the fuck he was talking about with his retarded theatre project, I don't know how Alistair nor Rory laughed at him.

I'll never get the obsession with water filters because regular tap water is completely harmless. Either I'm seriously missing out on the water industry drastically getting worse over the past 10 years or you're all genuinely germophobes terrified of anything but atomically perfect H20.

I'll never not laugh at seeing Indians buy crates and crates of bottled water whenever I'm shopping. Sorry pajeets, we actually have a functioning water system (for now).
