A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I feel like Rachel Reeves isn't called out for her Jewish heritage enough. You can hear it when she speaks which is why I struggle to listen to her for more than a minute.

Not mentioned anywhere.

EDIT: Added "Tip snipper".
That's because she isn't Jewish. She's some form of Christ Cuck (I think CoE.) You actually couldn't get a more Anglo-Saxon surname.

That's because she isn't Jewish.
That's shocking to me, she speaks like she's trying to maximise her free oxygen input. Surname didn't make me think twice because her broodmother could've seduced a human male.

She is, apparently, a CofE. Maybe it was just her constant pro-Israel interviews that created that link in my brain.

If one of us swung a fucking sledgehammer at any other human being, let alone a female fucking police officer, we'd be looking at at least attempted murder. We'd have also had the living shit beaten put of us and charged with resisting arrest for using you arms in an attempt to stop the boots of the other police officers from breaking our ribs.

Yet, they get GBH? GBH for trying to kill a police officer? Seriously? This is beyond two fucking tier.

No doubt Lammy's globohomo judges without a jury would have given the PA sledgehammer look compensation and sent the police woman to jail.

I'm at a state of beyond wanting to fed post. I hope the fucking police are taking note they're the victim of this shit too.
This is like the manchester airport paki chimpout. A bunch of people I dont like attack and injure zogbots and are gonna end up rotting away for a long strench. Sounds like a win ngl. Shame we didnt get a video of the blond-haired trust fund faggot getting his face kicked in as well.

Something that really rubbed me the wrong way yesterday was overhearing some dole scroungers complaining that they didn't get given enough free money to be able to go on holiday and that they had to show up to meetings. Mind you this was just after the budget had come out and they were about to take an even larger amount of my money for doing nothing.

I didn't think I'd get to this point but I think Thatcher might have been onto something when it came to giving out benefits.

Hell i work with severely disabled people and I'm becoming anti benefits. Those who need them (think missing limbs, severe TBI, genetic fuck ups, life ruining shit) don't get enough, and those who don't want to work get way too much. It truly is a system you need to 'game', and the types of layabouts who whine and scream and complain enough get what they want to shut them up and stop shitting up the phonelines, while those who need help are oft ''too polite'' or 'don't want to be a bother' (or are too fucked in the head to get in touch). It's infuriating. ''mental health awareness'' was a fucking mistake. Most benefits should stop being cash/deposits and either go directly to landlords/the bank for rent/mortgage and food parcels; those who actually need it and are grateful will be understanding.
OBR is predicting welfare spending will rise by £73.2bn to £406.2bn. This is unsustainable. Thatcher was definitely right about some things, especially the (paraphrased) idea of letting people work hard and choose what to do with their money, ie sending their kids to school they want to send them to.

The only real thing I like about Reform is how it's fragmented the left into being unable to draft a general narritive, it's funny because it's so tonally inconsistant all over the place.

"Haha, BOOMERS are voting for Reform to kick migrants out but Farage looks like he'll stab them in the back by cruelly removing the triple lock!"

You mean the triple lock that you're against?

It really says something that they're trying the racism at school hitpiece, about 10 years after it could possibly make a difference. If you ask the average person on the street if they're concerned about Farage being racist as a kid, they'd say "I wish he was more racist"

I was talking to my Farage hating boomer mum abut this and she thinks the attacks are pathetic. She asked me if I could remember what I said at school and I said whatever I did say was probably far worse than what they claim Farage said.

Reform UK won't get rid of the triple lock, but eventually pensions will become a thing of the past and replaced with a lifetime savings account - it'll then be up to people to save for their old age and most younger people (20s) would probably be okay with this.

Pensions would probably disappear from the 2050s onward, but if people are allowed to save and for this 'pot' to be tax free for life regardless of who is in charge (and it would be sheer folly for opposition parties to vote against it or threaten to remove it if they were to take power).

Here's what I would do:

* A flat tax of 15%
* Scrap VAT and other useless taxes to promote spending and stimulate the economy
* NI payments linked to NHS treatment - if you don't pay into NI then you won't get treated
* Look at capping the population down the line - we cannot keep adding people whilst infrastructure suffers and environmental degradation.

Speaking of Reform; a reported 700k campaign for this double page spread in the Telegraph, Times, Sun, Mail, Express and Metro (I assume the Guardian told them to fuck off). 1764249724333.jpeg

AN OPEN LETTER FROM NIGEL FARAGE

Dear Reader,

It is time to be honest with ourselves. The British economy is in desperate trouble. Despite what politicians pretend, you can see for yourself that nothing works anymore.

We have non-existent growth, higher energy prices than anybody else, taxes at a post-war high, £100bn annual debt repayment, uncontrolled immigration draining our nation.

And that is just the record of 14 years of Conservative government. If things weren’t bad enough, we now have economic chaos and a tax-raising Budget under Starmer and Reeves.

Whose side are Labour on? For almost 18 months they have been coming for pensioners, homeowners, savers, small businesses, anybody aspiring to a better life. Even if they promise something today, they will take it away tomorrow. No wonder a record quarter of a million ambitious people fled the UK last year.

These clueless politicians have never run a business and have no idea how the real world works. Thanks to them, I would not be surprised if a financial crisis causes an early general election. When that election comes, Reform UK will be ready. We will proudly be the party of alarm clock Britain, defending the hard-working taxpayers who keep this country running. Reform will strive to make work pay and will be on the side of small and family businesses. We’ll reduce the bloated welfare state, slash red tape, raise the threshold at which you start paying income tax as soon as possible, and cut Britain’s energy bills by scrapping crazy Net Zero targets invented by Boris Johnson and Ed Miliband.

None of this will be easy. I have made it clear that we cannot promise immediate tax cuts until we tackle the debt crisis created by the Conservatives and Labour.

For too long, governments have prioritised those who take more from our country than they put in. Enough. Reform will end welfare hand-outs to foreign nationals and stop young people with mild anxiety living on benefits. We will always be on the side of working people. We are favourites to win the next election. I take that responsibility seriously. Reform is building a team to turn our economy around. The government that I lead will not be full of career politicians, but people who have done things in the real world, who know how money is made and should be spent.

Our team will be ready with the plan to make Britain once again the best place to start a business, raise a family and build a future. I know what it’s like to have to make a monthly payroll as a small business owner. I will not let you down.

This morning people around Britain woke up feeling that the government is working against them. My promise is that a Reform government will work for the British people.

Labour and the Conservatives broke Britain. Reform stands ready to fix Britain.

Yours,
Cleverly done, right after the budget. I'm not on team Reform yet ('we cannot promise immediate tax cuts' is true but instinctively raises my suspicions) and I doubt I will be but this is a sharp campaign and i agree with above that the attacks are failing. Lots of 'was this funded by THE RUSSIANS???' on twitter, like the ruskies give a fuck about our poxy island.
Paging Mr Powell/@Made In Wales, would like to hear your take on this open letter

@Heinrich Maneuver

Many thanks for mentioning Nigel's letter.

Being pragmatic, what he is saying is bang on the money (poor pun maybe) - Reform UK cannot change anything until they are in Government and they then have access to the books and can then make the changes needed. Even if elected in 2026 or 2027 (most people now believe Labour will not last until 2029) it will be a good 12-18 months until the change is noticeable and the prices eventually come down and stay down.

Think of it as overcoming cancer - it takes a lot of time, effort and sacrifice to overcome this horrible illness, it's not a case of 'this thing will disappear overnight' and to undo the evil bestowed on us is going to take a herculean effort. However, Nigel is the only credible option and I believe that he would be the beginning of the long-term change sorely overdue.

Labour and the Tories have betrayed the British people and I personally believe in incarcerating the bastards responsible.

Reform UK can begin the recovery by not giving our hard earned money abroad, by reducing tax to stimulate growth, by listening to the CBI and experts and not ignoring people and then whining 'muh sexism' and by lowering the cost of living and keeping wages in line with the rate of inflation they can give more money to the British people to save and spend as best they see fit.

There is no magic wand, but I firmly believe that with Nigel in charge in Number 10 that things will only get better - the truth is out about Labour, they do not care and want us to suffer, it's no longer just the conspiracy theorists saying this but rank and file normal everyday people from Aberdare to York who have sadly woken up to the reality which we've known for years.

Reform UK have shown their hand, Labour and Tories are a busted flush, and the rest aren't yet ready to show their cards. Therefore, do we stick or do we twist?

The only disappointing thing about the 'Farage was racist/sexist/a jew hater at school' story is that his initial response was far too mealy-mouthed and smacked a bit of optics cuckery.

It would've been far better to do the sort of thing Trump does and tackle it directly, perhaps with better manners, something along the lines of 'I don't remember anything I said 50 years ago, it is probably a confection of the imaginations of people who disagree with me politically, and it is a complete waste of time with the country in this state to be arguing over opinions that were allegedly held by children.' Job done. Force them to a) prove that he said it and then b) make people care about it.

He did redeem himself to a degree yesterday by saying that Enoch was right.

Lots of 'was this funded by THE RUSSIANS???' on twitter, like the ruskies give a fuck about our poxy island.
The Russians actually have an inordinate obsession with Great Britain. They're still playing the great game, treating us as if we're at the head (or at least sitting on the shoulder) of a vast, competing empire, and they're still pissed off about the fact that they couldn't capture India before us (and once again, I find myself wishing they'd won that particular spat). They'll get over it eventually, but in the meantime they spend a lot of time and effort trying to fuck with our elections, funding random think-tanks, paying off random politicians, and posting stupid memes. They're completely non-partisan about it; they make as much propaganda for the left as for the right. The idea isn't to favour any one side, but to create social conflict and incite people into believing that everything they disagree with must be propaganda. Ultimately, they want to make everyone too paranoid to trust the system or each other. They've not yet realised it's a waste of money. Our media-political class have already done more to break the people's trust than any amount of boomerbook meme propaganda could hope to achieve.

Anyhoo. The letter is good. I like his idea of appointing a cabinet from outside Parliament.

Let's keep pretending the russians are the big threat to british politics while muslims continue to take high-level positions in government and the civil service while changing the laws in their favour, building mosques on church and rape, murder and rob indiscriminately.

Ignore the paki man behind the green (and crescent moon) curtain, it's boris borisov and yuri ivanov that are the threat.

I like his idea of appointing a cabinet from outside Parliament.
I agree with this up to a point. I think certainly the business ministers should have had real jobs, run companies and understand more than their economics textbooks. The problem is going to be getting the economic policies through the country needs without spooking the globalists at the Bank of England.
I don't think all the cabinet can be from outside, you will need people that know the system, can grease the wheels and get things done.
The biggest obstacle anyone looking to set Britain straight again has to overcome is undoing all of the Devil's work. So insidious and infiltrating was Blair's destruction of Britain, that it will require constitutional experts, law experts and politicians working collaboratively.
