A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Corner denies an additional charge of causing grievous bodily harm. He is accused of striking police sergeant Kate Evans on the back with a sledgehammer at the scene, leaving her with a fracture to her lumbar spine.

"I said something like 'you have just hit me with a sledgehammer', and he didn't recognise that at all, he just started telling me I'm complicit in genocide again," she added.

If one of us swung a fucking sledgehammer at any other human being, let alone a female fucking police officer, we'd be looking at at least attempted murder. We'd have also had the living shit beaten put of us and charged with resisting arrest for using you arms in an attempt to stop the boots of the other police officers from breaking our ribs.

Yet, they get GBH? GBH for trying to kill a police officer? Seriously? This is beyond two fucking tier.

No doubt Lammy's globohomo judges without a jury would have given the PA sledgehammer look compensation and sent the police woman to jail.

I'm at a state of beyond wanting to fed post. I hope the fucking police are taking note they're the victim of this shit too.

Probably the most soy filled terrorists I've ever seen, even green peace would cringe at this.

They seriously rushed into a place which had a VERY realistic chance of having armed guards in it with nothing but sledge hammers which they could barely even swing. Decided to just walk around the place after very loudly breaking in with flares and harassing the 1 security guard (armed with his trusty umbrella) and very poorly swinging the hammer at him. All this until other guards show up and very quickly lay them out with very little resistance and what was their last master plan? Say it's illegal as I presume they were getting tased.

Actual retard behaviour from people who've got 0 life experience and likely will never accumulate more because they are 100% getting slammed with terrorism charges among other things like gross bodily harm if that comment on Reddit is to be believed so the sentence they'll get will likely be pretty severe. It makes you wonder why they even brought sledge hammers if the idea was not to kill someone since they clearly were using them as weapons. Did they think it would be like a cartoon and a *dung* sound effect would appear and the guard would fall over much like Daffy duck?

All I'm saying is I demand a better quality of terrorist.

Fucking liars. Yanks are a pox on our game. This is exactly the sort of shit they’d try to pull, merging two bitter city rivals for fun and profit*. Arseholes.

* If you call having to reimburse the police and half of the city’s businesses for the weeks of rioting such a merger would cause ‘profit’.

I've definitely lost it today, what with the Budget, the Red Boiler Suit Brigade, I think I've got my dates wrong and it's April 1st. Except it's fucking Groundhog Day and every day is 1st April.
 
Some budget thoughts:

The ppm tax for EVs is pure schadenfreude but it shows how much labour or the blob or whatever are prepared to fuck over their core voters once they feel they have power. First against the wall. Kek. They will probably agree with it because mih climate hahaha.

The entire leakery and obr drop is very sus and looks like market manipulation to me. They can run normie media saying markets are up on the budget, not because its good, its just less bad than the leaked drafts etc.

Not happy about the min wage rises, they are wage compression further squeezing those who earn about enough, I doubt in April normie pay will reflect the change of scale when min is arbitrarily raised. Also super bad for the yoof, nobody is going to hire a teen anymore. This is once again commies proving they fuck over their closest allies ASAP.

The 2 child cap is another issue, just the elite trying to genocide us with bomalians. I think more people are aware now than ever though , mood is sour tbh.

The sort of pocket knife that a boyscout might have carried back in the day typically has a non-locking blade just short of three inches, taking those away would have caused too much upset. This is the only reason for those particular restrictions. It's the same as the "farmers shotgun" not technically being a "firearm" and falling under different (and less restrictive) rules.
 
I feel like Rachel Reeves isn't called out for her Jewish heritage enough. You can hear it when she speaks which is why I struggle to listen to her for more than a minute.
