A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

There’s more than enough laws in place. All she has to do is say people pointing out she did a shit job raising her kid caused her fear and alarm and the police will use all their resources to track them down and imprison the,.

I didn’t know a single person who had a hard time under Osborne and Cameron, even dole filth did well for themselves.

In the meantime, I’m earning the most I’ve ever earned in my life and can hardly afford to go out any more.

Surely something has to break soon?
Same boat as me, mush. Earning loads more but not seeing much of a difference. I'm not struggling by any means, but the increase in wages vs 10 years ago has not translated into the lifestyle I would have had 10 years ago on these wages.

Nothing will break. Nothing. Look at the shit that has happened in the past 10 years. How many straws did we see which should have broken the camels back? Instead the camel is been held up by third-worlders acting as leg callipers and a population of evil numb cheering on more straw.

COVID and it's consequences followed by a Coup'd PM - which was cheered on, should have been a reality-delivered bitch-slap to knock the fake optimism-induced malaise right out of most people's minds.

But nahh, let's not forget to clap for rNHS, watch out for 13 year old stabby white boys, free, free palestine and accept inflation isn't profiteering and falsified.

Has she tried...not going on the internet?

Not one single law should be in place and no real world consequences should happen for anyone posting anything online, considering the people who don't like what they read have to make a concious effort to connect to the fucking internet.

It's those old biddies that would phone in to POV to complain that the Blue Peter dog had a boner. Just change the channel you miserable cunt.

I am fairly sure I remember an interview with thatcher when she stated that she considered Blair one of her successes ‘because we’d changed the opposition.’
In such a light, I think we have nobody at all to vote for. The tories made everything worse and were in for 14 years, they were crap. The current Labour lot are so much worse it’s beyond belief, but let’s not pretend the previous tories were great either because they weren’t. There’s nobody to vote for right now who is going to make things better.
I think the point of Neoconservatism and Neoliberalism was, in effect, a means to kill partisanship in politics and create a truly unified government. Labour are the Conservatives, the Conservatives are Labour, people can vote for whoever whenever and be assured that the government will act in their best interests. But so much stuff is rooted in some utopian ideal, disregarding pride and competition and the fact a little thing called opinions exist, meaning we can see the same thing exact thing but perceive it differently. It's like all the main parties are trying to mould into one brown mass, identical to the ideal population of the powers that be. Utterly indistinguishable, utterly alike in mindset, a perfect and compliant society. Given the spiralling decline we've seen these past 40/50 years, and the fact such a thing is at odds with human beings, such a thing will never come to pass. It won't stop them trying though.

God damn the current Reddit segment Null is doing is fucking brutal.
Literally getting kicked out of their homes from muslim and jeet invaders.
>Oi, is dis legul?

TV soaps are just capeshit for Iceland mums. 2 hours of brainrot every fucking night that is packed to the brim with insane filler and government push factors. Like a bizarre Big Brother type machine to let everyone go that immigration is great because everyone on Emmerdale Farm is a nigger and yes lots of them commit crime but they're good honest people and sometimes you should just forgive someone for killing your brother even though they didn't go to prison for it.
Emmerdale is my favourite, despite having like 5 houses it still manages to tick every diversity box and have several murders every year. At least Coronation street and Eastenders are somewhat grounded in reality because they are set in hell cities.

I think my favourite thing about soaps is when their 'villain' character gains so much popularity that you can't really kill them off which results in a really weird thing where in 5 years time you have to memory wipe that he strangled those kids in the woods as they're one of the regulars now.

Although ironically, the idea that you can simply get away with things 90% of the time due to police cutbacks is probably makes it a more realistic show than any historical drama over the past 50 years.

I've watched episodes of Emmerdale before, and I don't remember a thing about them because I was bored out of my mind. Except for the few moments in the show where someone dramatically died on Camera.

That made me laugh so hard. Look at his retarded hammy face, you can tell he's trying his best to look like a statesman.

Hahaha I wish he had seriously hurt himself.

Seriously though, look at how he's holding his arms as he walks, especially front on. I know people say he's autistic but that's an autistic walk right there.

Brilliant. No wonder he's a complete spaz. Law is his special interest and that's why he's so useless. How the hell did Labour think that was the best they could do?
