A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They didn't say she was wrong, just that her attitude was due to noticing. Just as the rising anti-"asylum seeker" sentiment is largely driven by people hearing about all of the child raping (and the police/government covering for them and looking the other way). If people just didn't know about all of this then they wouldn't be upset, hence the pressing need to deal with the "mal-information" spreading around.

Never forget why this is happening and who is to blame.
On a completely unrelated note... I hope everyone has a fun, and safe, Guy Fawkes this year. A lot of people are unnecessarily injured every year due to carelessness, drunkenness, or simply not showing the proper level of respect towards fire and/or explosives.

I consider it a possibility that there was an inside job with people trying to get him out, and this operation somehow stayed under the radar to the higher-ups until it happened.

I think it is a genuine error because they all look alike, amirite, pro-migration, anti-racists?

We used to put criminals on giant ex-war ships. Massive Galleons that would hold 700+ people that either floated around the British seas (while accidently losing some overboard and to illness) until their sentence was done and they returned to blighty, or the ship dropped anchor in australia and off you fucked.

Not violent crimes either, petty theft and fraud in the 1700 and 1800 hundreds and you were ship bound.

Maybe we should make a floating island by celotaping the channel dingys together, and house criminals and illegals there.

I was reading the EBT thread while I was catching up on this thread and as far as criminals go, Null's quote comes to mind:

"I do not want to pay for you to live. If you can't pay for yourself to live, you should die. I do not want to pay a single dollar for anyone in this world to continue existing who can't finance their continued existence. If you can't afford to live, you don't deserve to live. This is how life should work. Either contribute something somebody wants to pay for, or die."

Either work for your fucking meals in prison or starve to death. I don't care if it's shoplifting a kitkat or digging up Damilola Taylor to stab him again. Prison shouldn't be a holiday camp to detox, it should fucking BREAK you.

They all are. Save for a very few brave individuals from all parties, parliament seems to be riddled with nonce-lovers.

What this signals is the significant discontent amongst the party with Starmer's leadership, so we're going to see some fireworks shortly.

This is the Britbong thread on a website that you can't/aren't supposed to access without a VPN run by a yank who constantly seethes about the Eternal Anglo, I think the thread pace can be forgiven.
