A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

More bad news for Labour as Starmer aide Jonathan Powell accused of interfering into the investigation of Chinese spying.

Zero days since the last Labour cock-up.

If Fry is a nonce, and I don't believe he is, he will be a 'legal' 'safe' nonce like when Glitter went to thai land to bang legal kids. Still a nonce, without the punishment.

The nonces left at the BBC (Benders Bumming Children corporation) will be cashcow nonces like Norton.

I will eat all the mockery when proven wrong but honestly I think Norton doesn't come across as a nonce. He seems the sort of man who's only ever aroused if his sexual partner can bench press him.

Whether or not that kink should be shamed (and is absolutely not limited to homosexual men) I don't think he's a kidddy fucker.

Fry is absolutely a pederast. He writes books and plays about grown men fucking boys, his artistic heroes are all grown men who fucked boys, he likes to make jokes about fucking boys, his "husband" is 30 years younger than him...

Fry definitely has 'wrong un' vibes.

Norton... hmm, either too obvious or he's a bit like Epstein - a trap (not like that..) to out famous people who've done wrong.

Alan Carr is possibly a weirdo too, there's definitely creepy vibes around him.

Fry is absolutely a pedo, as is Carr; Norton not so much. I can tell with Fry because I have never heard positive things about people who have worked with him. If no one has anything nice to say, then it's probably because they are bad.

As for Starmer declaring new things about Digital ID in fucking India because he is too much of a pussy bitch to declare it here, he knows his day is coming very soon; these are the actions of someone running scared and incapable of facing the cabinet and the press.

The Powell scandal is quite literally treason, to the point that evidence from MI5 was obfuscated. The Digital ID stuff is there to goad the media to take away from the issues of Powell and Reeves mutiny.

Oh god, I hope Rob Bryden is not a molester or Larry Lamb.
I doubt it's either of them, I think it's a producer or a behind the scenes person.

Brydon and Lamb are alright - met the former once and he was great fun, very down to earth.

Greg Davies, when I encountered him however, definitely left me cold.

There's also a strong rumour that Romesh Unpronounceablelastname raped Daisy May Cooper (the blonde fat girl from This Country).

Justin Fletcher wouldn't be a surprise to me. Skeeves me out in a similar way to how Saville did. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being unfair to the man, but trusting my gut has been pretty accurate before now.
