A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

GMP is what happened, even by britpig standards they're notoriously shit by each and every metric, Michael Todd doing a flip while in office as CC is the least of it.
It’s something I’ve bitched about in this thread but GMP are corrupt as fuck and REALLY have a problem with women who complain about them.

If a woman complains about them the harassment is off the chart. Part of this was them strip searching them for a laugh.

Rather than an enquiry into this harassment of women who complain about the police, that cunt Burnham turned it into a weird thing about the ethics of strip searches.

I hate Andy Burnham. He fools so many Norf FC people and I feel like I’m losing my mind explaining what a cunt he is.

At the time innocent people were being labelled pedos by the press and houses burned down. The press did need insulting of this issue.
It's not much of a stretch to think the entire thing was whipped up to distract from the existence of actual elite paedophile rings, knowledge of which had just started to emerge into the public consciousness around that time. Everything, from the hysteria, to the reports about the hysteria, to the eventual satire of those reports, all came together to paint any claims of abuse by powerful media figures and politicians as the ravings of swivel-eyed lunatics.

He's so obviously an embryonic wannabe Ethnarch of the Northern Tribe it's not even funny, the twat doesn't have a sincere bone in his body (except the ones up his arse). Works great for local politics as we can see, downside to this approach of his is that the soufs will never ever let him get anywhere close to where he actually wants to be, which sadly means we're gonna be stuck with him for a while I reckon.
Trying to expleeeen this shit to people is pointless so don't feel too mad it's wholly out of your control anyway, they either see it or they've got the wool over their eyes/are never gonna be capable of opening them anyway.

Elite pedophile rings are well known and discussed in the open as long as I can remember and long before that. Every 5-10 years there's some scandal that makes it media worthy then it dies down again.

I'm usually pretty intelligible in person (unless people are just humouring me). The only confusion I've run into is that people down south don't seem to know what a "ginnel" is (it's the narrow passageway that runs down the back of a row of houses).
It is Northern speak for what is correctly termed a "twitten"

I think you'll find twitten is a much more obscure word, most commonly used in hoveactually (as well as a place called Cuckfield, apparently). Some places call a gennel a lonnin or a snicket, but only the flattest of flat-capped yorkshiremen come from those places.

Weird scenes in Falkirk when a local Reform politician has some sort of breakdown because she accidentally used the seemingly innocuous phrase "born and bred" to differentiate herself from immigrants. She gets a telling off from the interviewer for wrongthink.

What is the point of Reform if they're as afraid of stating the obvious as any other party? Between this and the pro-trans messaging of a few weeks back it's difficult to see what they offer.

Or a ginnel. Twitten is a very Sussex word, origins lie in the description of the passage going betwixt and between the houses.

Not to be confused with a snicket.
I’m told a ginnel is the big one that goes between the houses, and a snicket the smaller ones that run along the back of houses. Or it could be the other way round.

We call them all alleys where I’m from. I just reside in Norf FC territory now and have to translate.

Edit: wtf do they call the Midlands, apart from ‘that doghole we have to drive through to get to the souf’?
